Love that this video is still on RU-vid. Almost December 2023, and it’s coming in real handy! Not only is your video extremely informational and instructive, but simultaneously thoroughly entertaining. Great work👏🏼😎
A masterful demonstration of how to replace a door lock actuator. You are a great teacher. At times I was getting dizzy with the camera movements and then realized the camera man was a young helper who did the best he could under the circumstances. More power to both of you and best wishes. Glen
Car D. Ologist is my man! - Figuratively speaking of course! I have a 1999 W140 and was fortunate to have it come with $22000 of maintenance receipts to include wheels etc but also and more importantly 3 tranny flushes. That said, I am not as financially prepared to continue having MB do the work and when I discovered your video showing how one can do the job oneself I was so grateful. Now I see you are doing more. I am eternally grateful. " Mr. Camera man"is an added benefit! Thank You Dr.!
Cameraman did an excellent job for what his age, his motor skills and his experience would allow. He needs all the appreciation and encouragement for what he did. Please keep making more videos, in a short time you will be a pro. Thanks to both father and son team. Excellent work.
Thanks for video. All i need was just to replace spring in actuator and its working great. Putting the actuator back in the door was terrible. It took me 4 hours in total, while watching your tutorial.
Thank you so much. I just bought the oem part from "a company" as well, and am going to install it this weekend. - Very thorough - very orderly - Nice clear images Thanks Mr. Camera Man!!
I love the newer Mercedes Benz quality. I got two doors with this problem. After watching your video I might get some new doors or a diffrent car. Thank you
The cameraman did an excellent job and if you don't agree, just try to do it yourself! The technical aspects of getting the right amount of zooming in for close-ups and being zoomed out for wide angle shots takes a great deal of forethought and practice. I was so impressed that this team did not waste anytime with talking about inconsequential bullxxxx and got right to the work of showing us exactly what we needed to know. The video was done extremely well. I was elated to find this. It was so helpful!!
You are an Awesome Person! Thank you for the video and the detailed bits you add along the way. I got my W211 all the way the the point of window bracket rivets and said, "this is impossible" I think we have to drill rivets! Moving forward!
Great account of this job with the world's youngest cameraman. Two comments: plastic tools are inexpensive and save you from scratches even at the wire anchors, and I wonder if the manufacturer would recommend installing new rivets or provide screws and nuts. I subscribed, I'm a fan.
This was an OUTSTANDING video, I mean it. excellent detail. excellent camera work little guy! I only hope this is similar on the 2003 C320... it SURE looks like it.
I was looking for on-line DIYs for this issue. Thank you for posting the video, it is most helpful. I am going to attempt to repair mine even if it is not a spring issue. My belief is that there is additional friction some where. We will see ... thanks again
Hello I have been agonising for. The. The last time three month by my faulty mercedes Benz 211. E240 door lock. Actuator. Which was faulty and was firing like a machine gun I was riveted by your instructions and Followed every step by watching your video taken by Your cute Camera man. While I was dismantling my door panel. To replace my faulty. Actuator. And. Was. Successfull in Installing my. Actuator. George Tannous. From. Australia
A BIG THANK YOU, this is what really happening on my c200, same door, this video definitely encourage me to....... make an appointment with the MB's technical service and let them do it for the roughly $500 they said it would cost. ;)
Thanks for the video. I took my pc out in the driveway and walked through the process. Very detailed. The only bit I need to tell you is that the extra cable you came across was the only problem I had. My change out was for the driver side and that cable is used. The connector is way up in the top left hand corner of the door and very hard to disconnect. I wound up cutting the cable and splicing in the new one. Thanks for taking he time to post Lou
The video was very helpful and I thank you very much for that...the job is coming my way.... I realise the camera was operated by your young son... however it was a little troubleome to watch at times. Just a few techniques to think about... Keep these vids coming....very helpful.
Hello My. Apology. Because my. Comment was cut short by hitting the wrong button on my. Computer. Thank. You again you have. Helped lots of. People by your video George Tannous from Australua.
I'm only half way through but you got the TV personality LOL.... plus I NEED to fix my ex's 2003 C320 'machine gun' so this is EXACTLY the type of video I would make as well....
One thing you should mention is that it is easier to remove the door handle when inserting the door lock actuator. By removing a little of the door seal, there is a T20 screw that holds the door handle. Once this is removed, the actuator fits into place easily and then just replace the door handle. Also, that white plastic that the actuator fits in front of is not for weatherproofing, it is actually there so that somebody cannot come and try and jimmy the door open from the outside..
Thank you so much! Your video is a great example of a well made"how to video"! Where was the power that you unplugged to reset the computer?.. inside the door?
Awesome helpful video ... you don't need to drill out the top rivet, and just really look at the white plastic that covers the actuator. that can be a bit of a challenge to get the actuator back up in position . I took my time so I didn't break anything and it only took me 45 minutes.
That was really great Mr. Car D. Ologist! I really enjoyed watching you. My car's problem is the lock got stuck. It locked as i drove off, and when I stopped, the door would not unlock. It is the driver's side. any advise what that could be?
thanks for informative video. i know these things take a while to make so good effort. disappointing to see MB made the lock integrated with the closing mechanism as they used to be separate on mercs up to the 90s, this meant a buggered lock didn't mean replacing the whole large unit like our 211s
I bought the repair kit as well replaced the spring and low and behold it didn't work, still had the machine gun problem. So I ordered an actuator to correct the problem. Mine came off of a 1999 ML 320 right rear door.
Great Job. Pls , how do I replace the external door handle on the rear right side of a 2001 c240.? I would be glad if you had some "tips" for me. Thank you.
Thank you for this video. I have one question. I put everything back together and when I lock my car the front interior dome lights stay on and the passenger front door panel courtesy stays on also. it was not doing that before. once I put the new passenger front door latch, that's when it started doing it. any idea,. I checked my connections and everything is plugged in properly. do i have to do like a relearn?
Thank you so much for the video. I have a Mercedes B 200 with exactly the same problem on the passenger side door, except it doesn't lock in the end after it bounces up and down several times... it just gets very annoying. Could you share with me where to find an inexpensive door actuator? thanks again for the video, really appreciate it!
Holy moly, I might have to pay for the repair. Don’t have that kind of a screwdriver and other stuff. I’m not sure. I’ll watch it again and see if I think I can do it. Probably not a repair for a novice. I don’t want to cost myself more by ruining something.
Hello I have e class 1999. The problem is that there is no sound in rear door speakers but just only in front. I have checked the plugs on player they mounted correctly. Do you have any idea what it can be? Thank you.
I have a seat that will not incline once reclined and I am curious if the problem is in the controls on the door. Do you have any experience with that?
What if the door neither opens or closes, but all the the other 3 doors work well. What could be the problem here, spring, plastic gear, which one or something else entirely?
Interestingly, wrapping some sticky tape around the stem that is easily unscrewed (part close to the window, looks like a golf ball tee) so as to provide some friction there) does indeed fix the machine gunning. Problem maybe that the locking/unlocking action overshoots the end position and the mechanism thinks that the lock/unlock failed and repeats it bangbangbang and so forth. A little friction (the sticky tape rubbing against the side of the hole) may be enough to stop the overshoot and signal that the lock/unlock succeeded, and everything works again (at least for the time being). Compared to replacing the mechanism which is complicated and painstakingly documented by Mr. Car.D.Ologist it is an EASY fix (how temporary, is unknown), so, replacing the works is still on the table. Thanks, all
Please, do I replace every actuator in all four doors of the car or just the driver's side? Is this a centralized thing or every door has one? Thank you, Sir.
I have the machine gun time to time on my right hand passenger door. How’s it treating you now? I also have the same exact Benz you have.. color and all!
My 2003 S600 has a couple of issues. One, the driver door will not soft close, it has to be closed tight manually. Second, the passenger door will not unlock with the key fob. All other doors operate. Local repair wants about $1,000.00 per door. WOW! Have any suggestions?? Car has 45k miles.
Good video but if you would have used a plastic wedge to remove clips you wouldn't have scratched your door so badly. I also saw you didn't remove the lock cylinder as it is explained in WIS.
I replaced the actuator. When I want to bring the window down to install the door panel, in about 3” down seems the it hits something and do not go any further down. What is causing that?
You need to hire a professional cameraman. I got nacious watching this with all that waving around lol. I have an 01 e320 and the left rear door lock does not work ecxept manually. I pulled the panel and it just has a little actuator since it is on the front end of the door.
