I am a BMW owner, but I must admit that Mercedes Benz's interior looks so much better than BMW's.

It's not a real MB sedan unless it has an actual star ornament! They're just great for continuing the tradition. Understated elements of old luxury on modern luxury is what makes a vehicle like the W213 so great. Such a nice and thorough review.

This car is absolutely amazing, the interior has Yacht vibes, especially with the open pore wood trim, it’s amazing and I’d love to own an exclusive line w213 sometime in life. Amazing review as always :)

Hi Thomas, I've been following your channel for a while. I think what make your review unique is your ability to communicate and connect with the viewers in such a way that they almost feel that they were sitting alongside you in the vehicle during the review session, including the fact that you always point out all pros and cons. I do have one comment though, it is difficult to watch the vdo from beginning to the end without interruption due to the length of each one. It might be better if you can edit and limit the length to some 30-50 minutes at most. Not sure someone else has pointed this out before. Just my opinion though..keep up the good work!!

The Interior Design Manager at Mercedes benz is Michele Jauch-Paganetti, he is Italian. He designed the new C classes interior and probably the E classes interior was designed under his guidance.

Excellent review Thomas! As many others, I feel they could have done a bit more to distinguish this model from the S en C class. But still, I like the look of the car, I think it's a worthy new E class design. For some reason I feel it deserves to have the old fashioned grill with the star on top! As for all the tech in the car, it's very very impressive. It's very nice to see this, and probably to test it once as well. But I don't really feel the desire to have it for myself. I quite content steering the car myself for example, especially because you can't rely on these new systems 100% anyway. I would just opt for the 'standard' ACC and leave it at that. Same thing goes for the (almost excessive) screens in the dashboard. I bet I would choose a setup I like after a while, and never fiddle with all of those options anymore after that. And given the high cost of such options, I don't think it's really worth it. What you're then left with is what seems to be an extremely comfortable car for relaxed traveling. Exactly what an E class should be, in my view. I think Mercedes did extremely well here, very impressive!

Great video Thomas ! I ordered my car and it will be delivered in 4 months time. I chose the technology edition and I have been waiting for this for 40 years. Finally I am able to efford it. A big thing for me is that I chose to order it WITHOUT LEATHER, I never thought about it until your comments about the misery of animals that have to die so I can sit on leather. I think I will be able to enjoy it even more now :-) Best wishes and keep making those great vid's

I really liked the moving your car out of or in to tight parking spaces with your phone. Very practical. As for autonoumous driving, I don't see this system much better than that of my Seat Leon with adaptive cruise control and lane assist. If you have to touch the steering wheel as a dead man's switch, it's not very practical. I understand this is more of a legal issue than technological.

I just found your channel as I was looking for reviews on the E-Class and was considering starting my own review channel because many other reviewers are not covering the cars in such a comprehensive and insightful way. Your reviews really stand out and I am happy to have found this. It even made me consider to ask to work with you on reviews! :o) I like a lot of things about the E-Class, but top 5: 1) The air suspension Air Body Control which makes the ride extremely comfortable. In combination with the dynamic selection feature, I think this is optimal for someone like me, who wants an elegant car with a sporty character. 2) The Park Pilot with the app is great, because how many times have you found yourself in a tight parking spot and barely been able to open the door, and then squeeze yourself into the car like a squirrel? So nice to just move the car out a little bit, open the door and enter with ease. 3) The interior; it is fantastic. It almost makes you want to live in the car. :o) I love the Designo interior, but I feel just like you about the leather...why not offer leatherette for the high-end offers? 4) Acoustic comfort package - I don't know if the car you were driving at 100 km/h (62 mph) that produced 70 dB of noise had it, but either way, it is very nice. 5) The big screen on the right! It is wonderful for navigation on long trips, because I feel my eyes get tired faster if I don't get good image resolution and a big map overview. I do prefer analog combi instruments (speedometer/RPM-gauge, etc.) on the left, though. One thing I miss in many (all?) cars, is protective shielding on the bottom part of the doors. People often hit their feet and leave marks there when they get in and out. It shouldn't be difficult to accomplish - no heavy materials are needed. Or maybe even make the doors open the other way? Or sliding doors like on a van (but with a bit more finesse, of course)? Ah, one more thing that I noticed is that the indicator sound is much more soft than in previous model, which I like. Hi, I tried this car just last week and it is by far the best car I've ever driven. I am in doubt though, I also love the "older" BMW 520d. Also a were nice drive, but which would you go for? And thank you, Thomas, for all your great reviews 👍😊

Anyways, thought I would tell you that during the drive pilot part at 33 mins, you have to occasionally either touch the steering wheel, or use your fingers and touch the steering wheel touch control pad, and it will continue to drive. This is so that MB knows you are sleeping. If you dont do either, it will begin to brake and flash the warning hazards

There is no car in the price range that says class, style and good taste as Mercedes-Benz E-class with the iconic three pointed star on the bonnet. The Germans are masters at car design.

I love the auto driving on auto bond I agree you should only use it on the motorway the auto steering and auto lane change should not be used in the country. Personally I like a little more torque in my diesel so I would go with the V6 diesel. I love that when you are taking the car out of the parking spot using the app that you have to turn your figure to make the car move and if you let go the car will break itself.

I've got the E class (220) and in comfort mode it always feels it's always in a gear lower than it should be. I always use the sport mode. Wish there was a way to change the default mode.

Maybe some one has already covered this but Mercedes wants you to keep both hands on the wheel at all times in autonomous mode. Taking your hands off the wheel will trigger the acoustic warning and the warning on the display after a certain amount of seconds. I thought I read that Tesla has embraced the same method in their latest software update. When roads get icy or snowy not having your hands on the wheel could not give you time to recover in a slide.

The interior is breathless. Pretty much the best interior i've ever seen in a car. But I must say the exterior really doesn't do the interior justice. I find the headlights very ugly and the overall proportions of the car look weird and old fashioned

Agree with comment, looks great from side & rear, and interior looks smart. Star on top (front view) is the only choice for me.

Autonomous driving scares the "car guy" in me, but I guess we should just embrace the change, cause it's coming wether we like it or not. But like you said, would be great when you drive for purpose and not for enjoyment. The E class is really beautiful, can't wait for the coupe version, it will look be amazing!

Honestly I am really suprised about this new E - Class. Years ago I was a total fan of the BMW 5 series but I think Mercedes steped the game up. The 220d seems to be a great fitting engine for this car. Altough I am looking forward to see the performance of the 350d. May this engine comes up in the offroad T-Model...? Great review as always! Personally I would go for the petrol engines or even the Plug-In Hybrid version of this car, but as it is a Fleetcar it has to be an Diesel engine. Maybe the Fleet chefs overthing they plans for the future and keep their fingers away from the Diesel engines. Lets hope for the best :)

Totally agree with you Thomas, the E-class interior made the S-class interior obsolete! What makes me love this car is that it looks like from a superior segment but much cheaper. Amazing review!

Nice review, keep it up. Autonomous driving is very interesting. However personaly im not convinced (yet) of its benefits because of the attention it needs and asks while driving.

Hate it how ppl say how tesla interiors r cheap and they don't even own one it not as nice as Mercedes but it's luxurious I've just took delivery of my tesla model x p90d and the interior is good it might not look good on picture or video but if u see it in real life it's nice and The seats r so much more comfortable than the older model s

thank you for this great review thomas. i have to agree, i would think that the s class is essentially obsolete after viewing this. perhaps with the next iteration of the s class i may change my view, but it would have a very high bar to jump with respect to how good this e class is. amazing car. historically the s class has been the pinnacle of the motoring world, dictating future technology in regular passenger cars that we see rolled out after its release usually 10 - 20 years later. remember radar guided cruise control? thats just being rolled out now in regular commuter type cars. it was introduced to the masses via the s class, w220 in 1999 lol. since then the s class has kept leading the way. it shows in this e class. well done mercedes.

Great reviews - I'm a fan! Other than fuel economy difference - did you find the GLE450 coupe any less practical than the new e-class as a family car? Would you have a clear winner in terms of better family auto? Our family has always felt like being a little higher in an SUV was safer - whether real or perceived.

Another great reviews Thomas, thank you. I have the previous e-class and the new one puts the old one tho "shame". It's brilliant and a big leap forward. I thinks Mercedes it's ahead of Audi and Bmw overall. I think Mercedes, Tesla and Volvo are the current leaders in this class of cars. With this e-class I really don't think it's taillight fits the car and gives it the overall exterior design language it's deserves. I like the taillights in the previous car better, or even the CLA. I would prefer the Avantgarde + night pack or AMG-line of the exterior. With the panorama sunroof combined with a fresh/untraditional color option to stick out a bit. I hope Mercedes are looking into the same software philosophy that Tesla. Giving drivers a "new car" with software updates just like Apple are doing with iOS on iPhone. It's too risky to buy into a car now that will have its software outdated in 2 years time. E350 plugin hybrid may be a bargain here in Norway, hope for a update-review

very good reviews I drive a lot at night but no one looks at the quality and spread etc of lights. I have ordered new eclass with adaptive lights but no one has tested them yet.

In my opinion it's a bit confusing how Daimler has made the C and now the E-Class also a kind of miniature S-Class. Personally I would prefer a clear departure in design on the more common model lines. Overall I think that the new Baureihe 213 is a great piece of engineering excellence. Hmmm. I wouldn't really say I'm a fan of the new E-Class exteriors since they seem to take too much off of the C and S-Class. However, the interiors of both these new non-AMG and AMG E-Classes look fabulous. I also don't really like the rear of this new E-Class; in my opinion it doesn't look as professional as it should be for a Mercedes of this type, considering that it's taken styling cues off of the C-Class and the S-Class. I personally prefer the design of the current E-Classes we see nowadays. However, they really have nailed the interior and key of this new E-Class. Marvellous review again Thomas!

E 43 AMG review please

I always rent a Mercedes when visiting Las Vegas, I got a kick out of the coffee cup symbol on the dash for fatigue driver. The wheel shakes if you get tired.

13:42 he forgot to mention the car has wireless charging in that storage. That's partially why it goes in so wide & deep. for big cell phones

Excellent review, I agree the tail lamps are a letdown and honestly the only reason to upgrade to this from the previous generation E - is the the excellent interior.

Again a awesome review best on the net,as for the new E Class l am not denying Mercedes Quality but there interior designs are just bit overpowering for my taste, especially with all the chrome highlights and of course the dashboard binnacle or the lack of one,Audi have nothing to worry about
