the keyword to this gentlemans phenomenal results is "gentle". the more force the more damage you cause, this goes for everything, even the pressure of air, water, detergent aggressivity, every kind of friction causing actions, on and on. i recommend not watching just the car surface beading in his videos, just take a look at his machinehandling, angles, distance, bottom to top foaming order, appliance of techniques, cleaning order in general, which is the real value because it is in fact the secret which he liberally shares. Additionally he also explains everything to such detail that some professional detailers may not be very happy with ;).

It does not take much to clean, polish, or even Ceramic Coat a vehicle. But it takes true passion, a love for craftsmanship and a certain ethos in order to not only produce such amazing results, but to entice thousands upon thousands of people to watch you do it. I like that you called it gentle, since that is really what a career in true detailing requires.

Gosh, Sandro, I can't tell you how much I enjoy these extended "how do" detail videos of yours. Every single one of them is like a Master's level class in detailing -- not just the specific steps and products, but the "why" behind the "what." Couple that with the production value with the music and videography you bring, and it's just a genuine pleasure to watch. I know I've said it so many times in the comment section before, but "Thank you!" for what you do!

Hi Sandro, great video as always. Regarding the paint thickness, I have the same situation on my E Class (sadly not a 63s!). It was a bit of a shock when I measured the paint thickness, but realised the panels with the thinner paint are all aluminium. I assumed they do not need the first coat of zinc phosphate used for corrosion protection on the steel panels. Hopefully the clear coat is the same on all panels (approx 40 micron for Mercedes I believe), as I’ve now corrected the paint! 🤣

@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 3 года назад
I would actually say that some of the best quality control and delivered cars have been Lexus/Toyota and Honda - but not always! Ive definitely had some issues with Lexus car rims in the past having done really sensitive paint and metal finishes and the car paint itself is almost always quite soft but can vary a bit in how sensitive or difficult it is to correct.
@adblf
@adblf 3 года назад
The master at it again, I have one of these in next week so a very timely video series! On the subject of 'additional detailing stages/steps' Gyeon recommend that after paint correction and pre-coating you should again wash the car with dish soap before your final IPA wipe. I know this isn't a step you do, so I'd be really interested to know your thoughts on stripping polishing oils, whether a couple of passes with NV Clarity is sufficient or if you've ever been tempted to consider a body-shop grade solvent wipe or a dish soap wash to ensure a better bond for coatings? Residue removal is such an important but under scrutinised part of detailing and would love to get your experiences on it.
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 3 года назад
I think it comes down to what’s needed in the moment or in your particular situation. As you mentioned I personally don’t tend to wash vehicles after correction because I work extremely clean and do IPA wipe downs before, during and after correction and I know what truely clean bare paint looks and feels like. But if you’re in a situation where perhaps you’re not working out of a clean studio/workshop or you’re perhaps using compounds that are leaving hard to remove residue or creating a dust storm during correction then I would recommend a wash - though I’m not sure that dish soap on its own is the safest product to avoid marring, I’d tend to say at least mix it with a pure car wash soap to help give it some better lubrication and easier to rinse down residue as dish soap can aggressive by comparison. I use to use wax and grease remover/prepsol and other solvent based cleaners all the time as a panel wipe, but once I got into more high end detailing I found that it made certain softer and sensitive paints even more sensitive during correction and protection work making it harder to finish well and more prone to swirls and marring during coating application, so I guess those are my thoughts and experiences with that.

Hi Sandro, another great video!!! Just on what you said about only using car wash detergent on the carbon ceramic brakes system, would that also apply to aftermarket ceramic pads? I am looking to get ceramic brake pads in my car with the standard disc rotors! Thanks
@CarCraftAutoDetailing
@CarCraftAutoDetailing 3 года назад
I’m honesty not sure about that. But I’ll also say that I’m not 100% convinced that a wheel cleaner is going to deteriorate ceramic brakes in general, it just seems that this is the general consensus but when I’ve tried to investigate it I’ve only heard stories and not real proof that this is the case so I’m on the fence about it. It may be true, it may not be or it may be a certain older ceramic break setups that had these issues. But like I said the wheels don’t get all that break dust so you generally don’t need stronger cleaners to get them clean.

Try and have a look at the “50/50 Mazda 6 video” as well, but the key is really all about finding the least aggressive method that works to produce a great result and that can take a bit of testing! Generally it’s normal to expect lower readings on Mazda’s but anything below 80-90 microns always has to be approached with caution. I’ll look for it in the mail lol!

Merc and BMW paint ain't as good as it was. Bit more orange peel in the finish and no more polishing inside the boot lid or under the bonnet as they finish in matt. Suprised see the wash damage after you dried. Can tell your on good price how slow your wiping the front grill. Doesn't matter if it's a mini or a Bentley continental GT W12.

That paint condition certainly doesn't look good considering that's the way it looked upon delivery.
