The problem was found! The reason the injection pump would not purge its airlock is because the fuel tank return line was blocked solid, so the pump was basically fighting against a dead blockage and never supplying the injection pump sufficiently. Annoyingly, that fuel tank was professionally cleaned and treated at a cost of $750! Imbeciles....
My Merc, w126 which had sat for 14 years in a shed, wouldn't start, previous owner spent $1500 at a mechanic, who just about replaced the whole fuel system, pump, filter, lines, cleaned tank etc. Still wouldn't start. Well apart from the fuel pump one way valve being installed back to front. The problem was a blocked fuel tank return line !!!
Just looking at the careless paintjob after tank restoration gave me already a clue about the level of professionalism of that workshop.... Nevertheless, good that you found the culprit.
This feels like Tim's wedding day! ->(This comment was made at the start of the video, not intended to be offensive in any way) Even though it runs on propane it sounded really good to me. Reminds me of my experience with my w124: My car has Lpg along with gasoline. In order to run at lpg, it needs to start with gasoline and run for a while in order to switch to lpg. After that information, one day i went to a mall, when i came back to my car, it didn't start, i quickly discovered that fuel pump wasn't working. I went back to the mall, bought a can of brake cleaner, found someone there, started the car on brake cleaner until it switches to lpg then drove off. After going home, i found out it was a chewed up cable for fuel pump that fails the pump.
He has messed around with wiring at the rear of the engine and removed some relay some electrician had installed in the past. There is no power ever going to the giant solenoid at the rear of the injection pump that moves the internal rack back and forth. I’ve not read up on its functionality yet but it must be related. It absolutely wont run or start unless i manually push the rack forward, i suspect the pump is also still full of air to some injectors. Its not even mentioned in the service manual to purge the air out, ibut im sure some experts would know for sure
Is that black hose for the power steering oil and why is it going all the way around the engine bay and then to the pump? Just curious about it and if it could be made shorter :)
@@marcox4358 probably wouldn’t want to run a diesel high pressure pump on a common rail too long dry, or any pump realy. The 6.3 fuel pump ended up seizing after continuous air locks
