This is a detailed video, showing how the rechargeable battery in the glovebox torch on the early Mercedes R107 and early BMWs, can be replaced using conductive glue instead of solder.
The video shows how to remove the torch without damaging the glove box and also how to remove a seized torch from its holder.
At the end of the video, we show you where to get everything you need, including the battery, the LED bulb and the ingredients for the conductive glue.

Great video, I have not seen the use of graphite powder and liquid tape mixed to a conductive glue, great idea.

Hi - do you mean the big rubber bit that connects the intake manifold to the airfilter shown as part number 117 in the diagram below: mb-teilekatalog.info/view_SubGroupAction.php?lang=e&mode=BM&class=1&aggtyp=M&catalog=032&model=110990&group=09&subgrp=001 If so, let me know what country you are in. I came across this video when researching soldering. And my engine temp sensor in my 74’ 450SL has broken from the connector at the back of the engine. The wires came apart from the connector piece and it just won’t solder for me. I see where you made some conductive glue with those things. Do they make something already as a conductive glue so I don’t have to mix anything. Anyway. Will that work on the connector piece or is there a part number for that connector with the wire still connected? Or can I take it apart to fix it? I can send you another email of what I’m talking about

Hi - send me a picture. I have not come across anyone selling conductive glue (yet). Where are you based. m_scott65@hotmail.com

Thanks for the email and video. I reckon my conductive glue recipe would probably fix that but.......let me have a look at my parts car tomorrow to see if I have one of those plugs. If so, it would be an easy matter to spice the two wires together. Mike

@@MikesMercsandothercars great! Thank you! My dad and I tried looking at the connector to see how it comes apart. The top part spins and looks like it has clips on the top inside that clip it into onto the lead.

Hi Mike! I am desperately trying to separate the torch from holder without breaking it. I cannot get it to move at all. It is soaked in WD40. Did the hot water make any difference or what made the trick for you 🤬

Hi - yes, they can be a real struggle to separate. Run under boiling water and then try wedging a flexible kitchen knife (with a round tip eg not sharp) between the side that say ACCULUX and the holder. Then tap the end of the knife with a hammer. Wiggle from side to side (not up and down) Worst damage you can do is split plastic holder along the seam which is easily glued. Hot water will make it less brittle. Good luck. Mike

Well after some struggle I decided to drill out the rivets holding the socket together. I have now got one of the pins out but the other is still stuck. What a nightmare. It seems that WD40 doesn’t really bite on corroded brass parts. And the slider is broken. Should have purchased a new one in time…

What country do you live in? I will be selling one of the plug fittings at some stage...and I reckon I could the slider could be scanned and 3D printed. If you break things, its only a tragedy if its someone else car....everything else is just experience. Mike@@thomasditlev1973

Ohh yes. Live in Denmark. Saw your video and decided to take a look at the torch in mine as well. I love challenges but this has become a nightmare. The light has never worked in my car. Perhaps I should have left it alone… Well, all the bits are now finally separated. Now I need to get hold of batteries and the glue you are using. Sooo happy that I have gorilla glue… also for the broken slider
