Nice video. I haven’t seen yet my 2000 SL500 Designo AMG package model in Poland. I think am the only one with it. It’s a slate blue metallic colour. Very unique, just over 500 made world wide. I will always keep this car

It’s amazing how many of those cars are US exports.

Great video! Thank you for sharing! I have a 92 500sl w/OZ Wheels, signal red with brown palomino interior. Wish we had an r129 meet like that in north Texas. It’s awesome seeing so many SLs in one place!!! And what a beautiful town square!

Bro Fr I recommend avoiding the 600’s, go with a 500. The power difference is negligible, but the service costs are astronomically cheaper with a 500 than a 600, even more so with a 300/320 I’ve owned a 97 SL320, that was still expensive to service but nothing horrible, Totaled that and now I’m looking into a 94 SL500, but I would never in a million years buy a 600. I once went to the mechanic who works on my mercs and he had a 600 on the rack, he told me to guess how much the service costs were gonna be and I guessed $5,000USD, however I was wayyyyyy short, it was actually going to be a $12,000 service bill. No thank you.

How much longer can we keep these wonderful cars on the road? I'm finding it impossible to source replacement parts for my '91 300SL. Anybody have a spare EGR valve?

I also have a SL600 :) 1994 . Love this car; unfortunately ASR and SRS lights came on a couple years ago :( . Decreased power almost embarrassingly. However I have faith it is something simple. Just haven't found it yet. Am fortunate to have another, same year, exact car that runs excellent, side by side to interchange parts with, hoping to find the failing link ! I've swapped parts, one by one, then running it after changing each part. Both MAF sensors, Throttle actuators, installed 4 new MB temperature sending units, etc. Long before ASR and SRS lights came on, it would run perfectly until temp reached 80, then a miss would come. So that's why replaced sending units. At this time, I took it to a Mercedes-Benz Dealership on West end of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada for diagnosis. I was very disappointed in a high end car model Dealership to be all about business, and so Clueless about their product. Their feedback was: Our equipment couldn't communicate with your car. Therefore, because it's old, we'd suggest changing the 2 Throttle Bodies, and the engine wire harness, and then "we'll see". Lol Well, those 3 parts alone without labor were between $14,000-$15,000. I have that copy. So that's when I acquired the 2nd car. Since swapping parts. The wire harnesses for the Throttle Bodies look perfectly fine after cutting the protective coating on them about 12 " back. Thought, well it must be the engine harness? However, the wires under the center front to back cover above the engine; wires also look perfectly fine. So am stumped as for what to do. Love the car and would like it to be 100% again :) BTW, it has 85,000 miles on it. Purchased it in 2012 from Houston, Texas with 68,000 miles. Thanks for reading. Sure would LOVE a solution! I know there are many brilliant minds out there ! Great video, as yes, Im a true fan of these cars!

Does the throttle not respond until you depress it very far? Recheck the wiring for the throttle body. Sometimes what you think might be wires is just rubber coated metal wires that keep the harness in shape, and you need to look under them. If the date code for the throttle bodies is in the 93-95 range. It probably has bad wiring.

Replace the brake light switch, it is not expensive. Also scan for wheel sensor failure.

An S600 owner was able to resolve their ASR/ABS light issue by removing and cleaning the modules in the CAN. The light has not come back on since. The CAN is the controller area network (CAN) communication computer module system located under the hood on the passenger side of the S600. It has a black cover. When removed it will reveal several computer modules. They removed each module and cleaned off any corrosion and used dielectric grease on all contact points. This fixed the problem, which had been diagnosed by the Mercedes dealer as a bad speed sensor. This cleared the lights.

One owner states: !!!!!!!!Fix!!!!!!!!! After about 2 months, ABS and ASR light come off. The problem was in "switch" between ABS/ASR unit and connector. This switch turn on this light when you get out ASR/ABS unit. It was deformed...

@@Ready72000 I did check the modules in that aluminum box on passenger side. Meaning I removed them hoping cleaning connections would make a change. They looked like new. But I sprawed elec contact cleaner on them anyway, plugged them back in; no change. I also did replace brake SW, but still no change. My next thoughts are to hopefully find a New engine wiring harness to try, as others have had problems with the original wire harness.?? I'd like to think its a simple issue, but unknown at this time. I also did break down and take it to a shop that specializes in Mercedes-Benz. They did some testing for a while, they said off and on over 3 days. Concluded that there is power to the modules, buy no further, so they couldn't get readings. They also said the Throttle Bodies are working mechanically, but not electronically ? Basically drove it out exactly the same as I drove it in. Therefore I feel, I just wasted $1000. I feel it must be something simple? And yes the Throttle bodies
