illwills i feel your pain. That's really annoying that the belt snapped and did the damage that it did. Keep me posted as to what the mechanic says, finds. I've been there too where i hear a noise, ignore it and then boom! Major damage.

@@iRepairAutos Hi Keith. My Mechanic showed me parts of the serpentine belt in my oil Pan, I noticed the large pulley, there is a rubber lip on top, That was totally gone. So, my belt slide directly off the pulley. Once my old alternator was out. I saw the serpentine belt was fully wrapped over the pulley. It was a mess. OH EVERYONE Should check their Tran mission Pan. I have to change mine, and it is severely rusted. Living in the northeast. We should pay attention to this as well. We have snow and then salt from the ground can cause this.

@@illwills yes. The guide pulley doesn't have sealed bearings and will freeze at around 100k causing the belt to fly off when the plastic pulley melts result is catastrophic damage. Anything and everything. The belt was new in my case. Total loss 2003 e500

1776 man you good! I have a 2008 s550 Mercedes and l broth it it had that static in thr radio and done change all the speakers and put another radio in and l still have that static! So my question to you what can l do to ratify this problem! Thanks in advance!

I want everyone to know their options at a minimum. Know what's involved in repairs and if possible do certain things themselves. I often wonder how much money has been saved because of the channel.

​@@iRepairAutos Hi Keith, I've invested in a pair of drive-up ramps and a trolley jack, multimeter and a substantial toolkit that I've built up over the years. Add to this the Haynes manual series and I have saved thousands. I would set about the equation as follows; To start Labour costs, here in London, UK, a "cheap" local garage charges £70.00 ($89.94 US) per hour for labour, so even if you were to tag/rate each video with an estimated duration to complete time, e.g. 30, 60, 90 120 (minutes) that would show roughly how much labour charges are saved. Secondly, the cost of diagnosing a fault as we know is both time-consuming and frustrating as well potentially costly. You can add a minimum of 30 minutes minimum automatically, per each video. (which garage won't add a "finders fee" not to mention charging for work that wasn't even done.) Thirdly, your clear and methodical step by step instructions in the videos will save huge amounts of time when people actually go to work on the car, as they know what to expect before they even get there. Then you can put a total hourly rate cost to each video and multiply it by $89.94 haha! that would give you an approximate total saving you are giving per video. Are the horizontal lines always on the screen? When in navigation mode, am/fm mode, or only sometimes?

@@iRepairAutos This only happened a couple times in winter, but when this happens the screen is completely unreadable in any mode including the back-view camera. The problem did go away after restarting the car several times, but I've heard this is a widespread problem with MB Command monitors and usually gets worse with time until a Command unit replacement becomes necessary!

Me too ! It just started after driving parking shopping and then came back and it made this sound. Going nuts 🫣

@@iRepairAutos I got this old MB a couple months ago. The antenna tip was exposed to the elements and I put a new plastic shark fin cover on it, but it still only plays well on 1-2 strong stations. Thanks for your knowledge sharing.

Biggest suspect is your stereo amp. They are prone to burning out from water damage

Before that we got to make sure the amp is truly dead. I would pull the fuse and see if it's good. Then put the fuse back in after 5 minutes. With that said, it's probably easier to find a used one online at the famous auction sites.

Lots of static in the audio

1776 I'm having the same problem with 2008 Mercedes s550 l have a lots of static in my radio. I when to someone that do audio shop they end up playing me out of 500.00 dollars because they told me that l needed to change the big long speaker in the back window. But that didn't solve the problem because l still have the same problem plus l have lost 500.00 dollars.

Sometimes the convo get staticky and the person you’re talking to can hear you. I have switch to the phone 📲 to continue the convo
