This W222 S Class is 10 years old, but still looks like it could have came out in 2023~~ such a timeless, classy design that can't be replicated by the current S Class even.
@@kirilyordanov8074 I HAVE a W221, nearly cracking 200,000KM, v12 - and its a solid as car. W221's are great examples if you look after them properly. Most the stuff i've done on mine has been preventative.
Same. Rode in the back of a hired one on my wedding day. Nearly got the whole event cancelled because I didn't want to get out 😂. Nothing I hear on RU-vid does it justice, that V12 sounds like luxury.
We need a review of a facelifted coupe S65. Those are super rare and non opf I believe. The sweet spot of a modern Mercedes, still is very up to date and looks better than everything else they sell now.
There’s a pretty good video of one from February 2020 I’ve watched a few times. There’s no commentary but it’s a good POV for those that like to hear them.
@@ceycey26482019 would be the pinnacle. Because as stated, the V12 facelift is rare af especially in coupe form, not to mention as a Brabus. 900hp rwd madness
@@memorimusic420 Hybrid crap, no V12 anymore, tesla-like screens everywhere. Its a luxury car indeed with the best materials but the design feels copy-pasted from the same language adopted by half the automotive industry nowadays. The w222 had in 2019 a "final edition" S65, which was the farewell to the proper thing. If im not mistaken, the w223 gen line doesn't even have an S65 anymore, the fastest is the "S 63 E Performance" which has their 4.0l V8 and some eletrification. Its over.
@@memorimusic420 Well, at least i think he meant the choices of following crowd trends, doing what everyone else is doing in spite of your own thing. Anyways, I don't think they are a case of bad quality, the materials and engineering is excelent and the interior materials are probably the finest in the automotive industry, for a car such as E, S classes or 7 Series etc. But regardless of how well they put all of it together, its just a nice execution of the same trendy interiors everyone else is doing. Every new BMW, Tesla, Cadillac, every other startup EV companies from China etc. Here in my country we are being flooded with these BYD, GWM, Haval, Cherry whatever cars that are all the same. Very little buttons, all screens everywhere. And for the general public and reviwers, the larger, the more impressive. Thats it. This is why brands like BMW, Mercedes, Lexus, Cadillac, Toyota, even the new Ford Mustang has a cheap tablet for instruments. Its just a lower quality execution of the same thing VW is already doing and VW's execution is just a lower quality execution of what the luxury brands are all doing. I wouldn't use "woke" to describe it but it kinda fits. Its just the same recycled generic crap everywhere.
In my humble opinion, those V12 starters are one of the best things you can ever hear from a car. Doesn't matter if its Benz, BMW or Audis diesel craziness, it always sounds amazing!
They made a final edition s65 AMG with bespoke wheels and colours at only about 10% extra price over the regular. Those will no doubt will be worth millions in the future
I have the only W220 S65 in Finland and this is from 2004. And it is outstanding. The engine and the car feels crazy. And the fact how long this M275 -> m279 was produced is really something. True something!
I live in canada and purchased a 2018 sedan from california and i adore it, have a tune, turbo-back exhaust, intake, bigger turbos, and tires. and it munches hellcats, m3's, m4's, doesnt quite munch a new m5 on a dig but it catches up, its great
1. You can listen to the starter non stop and not get bored. It's like starting a big militarny machinę not a limo. 2. The ease of doing aby autobahn speed is mindblowing. No matters how fast you're going the engine can always give you more. What a machine! p.s. I fully agree that 222 is so much more elegant and nice, especially inside, than 223.
I watched the video actually couple of times.... This car sits in a group of its own, there isn't anything like it. Yes, there might be Bentleys and AUDIs and RR, but this is something extravagant, yet simple, not giving any of its characteristics away, now yelling "LOOK AT MEEE, I AM AN AMG!" This is a car, that needs a special minded person, and I say it in a very good meaning. It's a very smooth and elegant murderer, that craves for more when you give it more. A masterpiece, trully
Wow, wow Max! There’s no need to call me an old men! 😂 I’m in my early 30’s and I have an S65AMG but also an S63AMG. I believe I’m still a young men 🤔😂 By the way, you described the S65 perfect. The part where it gets faster as it goes through the gears and also the way this car makes you feel. I also love my S63AMG but if I had to keep just one car, I’d keep the S65AMG. The V12 really is a special engine and something that we will never see again
The words that will describe this car will be three : monstrous, amazing and speechless.Monstrous because of the engine 680 hp/1000 nm torque 😲😲. Amazing and speechless because of the interior.
I believe the reason it feels faster in 4th & 5th etc is due to the full amount of torque being utiilzed, in lower gears i believe the ecu limits torque to help with traction and to no doubt help the gearbox longevity, owned a cl65 a long time ago and it was a brilliant do it all car, the wife used it for a daily for 12 months that's how easy it was to drive, the V12 is smooth and savage and the comfort is legendary, reliability for us was also good just two services in our two years of ownership
I think it's because of gear ratio, because my S500 also pulls harder in 4th and 5th. I have a vid of it. You can clearly see the speedometer moving quicker after 3rd
I love mercs , I am a fanboy tbh but really , I was looking and thinking the same ... almost 10% in less than 5 mins ... :( ... I think that is another price of a V12 ...
@12:02. I think you're right about the torque limit thing. Av few tuners have looked at this and it's why Mercs don't often seem as fast as the raw numbers might suggest. Why? Probably down to cost. As Pirelli say, "Power is nothing without controL".
I don't have the discipline to ever own something like this, but I dream of cruising down the road in a car like this, with no particular goal, other than just bliss.
