Im currently 17, my grandpa has one but he decided to give it to me as my first car, been 2 weeks since I've started driving it and I couldn't be more happy, truly a incredible car!
Great review. Love these cars, that's why I bought one 😊. I've got the SLK 350, which is rediculously fast, but the 200 you have is ample performance and still great fun. Enjoy.
Hello for your information. The frame of the rear axle tends to rust through. This is replaced and repaired free of charge by mercedes on kullanz in Germany. with my slk r171 built in 2006 and 180,000 km even 2 weeks ago. it is a repair of about 2000 euro which was completely taken over by mercedes
Another detail I'm enjoying about the front is that it doesn't feature the "double branding" most other post 1995 Mercedes have. For example, the successor to the r171, the aptly named r172, does have the same big star integrated into the front cooler as well as that small, silly Mercedes plaque on the tip of the lid.
Nice car! I'm on my 4th SLK; a R171 SLK350. It's stunning but I have to admit, my favourite was my old 1999 SLK230 Kompressor. It'll have disolved into a pile of rust by now but the R170s were an absolute event to drive and own. Ahhh... nostalgia!
Nice car, nice home, nice video, good luck on the roads mate, enjoy the summer! I’m driving an slk 2014 white AMG, i even printed a picture which is above my bed so i can see it when it’s in the garage:)))
I'm on my first slk, there's nothing better than driving with the top down around Loch Lomand, Arrochar, Dunoon on a dry day. Not so good on a motorway. I used to look at guys like me (I'm 67) and think act ur age. Now I look at other slk drivers on a sunny day and want to shout at them to get the top down. They're letting us fellow slk owners down. 😂
Love the video and the car. I have just purchased this model 2nd hand and really adore it. One thing that puzzles me, which maybe you might know the answer to. The air vents on the Bonet. The drivers side has a sealed tray inside preventing the rain from entering the engine, however the passenger side has no tray apart from the battery cover tray. I have noticed that water collects inside under the battery. Is this correct ?
Nice review sir! Good notes on all the important points. I bought a 2009 model in July 2018, & have loved very moment of driving it since!! SLK R171 Rules!!!
ahhhhh bro this is such a cool clip as i’m buying one this week, especially that shroud in the boot area that you have to pull down for the conv roof to be down. epic!!!! 👍👍👍
Hi andre, hope your well. i know the videos a bit older now. but wanted to know you faired with your SLK, Im potentially looking at getting one for myself in the coming months, probably the 1.8 like yourself. did you have many problems with the car or has it been mostly okidokie :) great video!
Hi bud , 184 hp going to be like driving miss daisy, what nm torque are you getting? And how much is it going to get this ready for a stage 2 remapping? Nice motor my mum has one looks the bollocks but it’s not a drivers car 🤘🏻😎🤘🏻
@Jason Crook - Pissed on anyone else's parade lately? He's a young guy. The 184hp SLK200 is just perfect as a starting point, and remapped you get 210hp (I know, I had and remapped one). Have a SLK350 now but honestly, there's just no need to dampen a young guy's enthusiasm by telling him that his car's "slow" and "not a drivers car". A Hyundai i10 is slow, and not a driver's car!
You won't regret it Sapha. All the SLKs are great value especially the mk 2, SLK 350. It's surprisingly rapid with around 300bhp under the bonnet, and can keep up with some very quick cars. Great sound from that V6 motor too. Take one out for a test drive. You'll be surprised.
Yo my g. Just got one of these. Do you know if there is an aux input? Its not on the left hand side of the glove compartment. That's for satnav (which is poo)
A very nice example of a Slk 200 you have there. Can't wait to drive my once it's finished. I didn't buy one in as good condition as yours. So a have a rather large project ahead of me... 😅 But it will be very nice whit complete Carlsson styling, exhaust, and tune. Plus I have/am doing ekstra performance mods. So 230-240 ponys is the goal, let's hop I get there 👏
@@AndreiSmantana I'm so jealous of you having one in Cubanite as it seems. I'm stuck with Iridium for now - which is pretty lame. At least, I'd like some fancier Obsidian.
Fantastic car with the badge of honour like the colour as well. However what you need is the 55 v8 don't mess with the small ones, I previously owned a 996 and couldn't believe the instant power gain from the Porsche to the mercedes. Don't just take my word go test drive the 55. All the best mate.
I'm paying €8-€15 (per month) less compared to usual starter cars like VW Golf, Opel/Vauxhall Astra etc. Insurance for a car sure can be both less and more expensive than that, though.
Just wait till the hydraulic ram in the roof seals go and you spend 2000 bucks to install a new ram and it still doesn't work and no body knows why it won't work
