Ah it depends if you have an E-Class with COMAND or MBUX (previous shape vs the later one) COMAND - Go to Media and hover over the next track button with the middle wheel and hold down on the enter button the wheel to fast forward MBUX - Go to Media and hold on the touchscreen the next track button to fast forward I’m hoping to cover some of this topic soon!

Hi Nick, this video is truly a life saver. You explain everything so well and so professionally. and I am very thankful to you for that. I have had Mercedes Benz for a good number of years. Gave myself my first Mercedes for my 50th birthday and after driving a Mercedes, I could never have driven any other car. My second Mercedes was a cute Kompressor, and last year I bought a black CLA Coupe, (as my Bday present). The moment I saw it, I fell in love with it... but I live in Japan, and the car instructions booklet is written in Japanese. I somehow manage speaking the language, but reading it, is a totally different thing. The Mercedes people are extremely helpful, especially the guy who sold me the car. But I can't be running to the dealer every time I have a question. I only wish I could have "found" your videos before. Thank you so much. Yes, you are a life saver!!! August 20, 2023

Hey Nick, thanks again for a great video. If I may, I’d like to make a suggestion for a future video. I drive an A200 sedan. It has the optional runflat tires. This option deletes the standard tirefit. I was shocked to see that there were no tyre changing tools in the boot at all. I thought Mercedes would at least leave a tool that I can use to take off the tire in case of an emergency. I know that’s what SOS is for, but I live far from the nearest town, so not very practical. The only tool present is the one that you screw into the bumper to tow the car. Would be great if you could do a video on the different spare wheel options/runflat options/tirefit options and if possible the tools that each option include. Thanks Nick!

Thanks Johan! Glad you enjoyed the video! Ah that’a because Mercedes have a very unique feature in the UK. Basically you get up to 30 years breakdown cover for free but there is a catch. It does need to be serviced by Mercedes each year for that to be in effect. If you did need them, make you don’t press SOS as that is the equivalent of a 999 call. They’ll be a “Me button” next to it, so you’d use that instead. I have considered a TYREFIX repair kit video so might do one in the future!

Thanks Nick. Not sure what LIM is. Speed limiter??? Perhaps an EU exclusive as I've never seen it on any US Mercedes? My car's cruise control buttons are slightly different than either of the arrangements you shared. The top [Back, Touchpad, Home] buttons are the same but the lower buttons, from left to right, are Top = RES, Bottom = CNCL > Top = SET +, Bottom = SET - > Top = ON, Bottom = OFF.

Ah okay that sounds like it’s just another example of spec varying so much round the world. So that sounds like it’s just cruise control (without the Limiter). Maybe it’s an option at factory or something…

Hey Sergio, it depends on the specification of your car. Have a look at your light on the outside of the car and see if it has any text written like Intelligent Light System, MULTIBEAM LED, or DIGITAL LIGHT. Those are automatic full beam, if it doesn’t say anything or if it says LED High Performance Headlights, these are a manual full beam.

Another awesome video!!! I find it frustrating that when I have the mercedes navigation on I cannot for the life of me see the direction I am heading .. Nowhere to be found. That is when I put an address in to go to. But when I do not use it, It shows me. Do you know how I can fix this? I always want to know what way I am heading.. I have the 2021 gls 450 matic, Oh also I tried to get the lighted star and I cannot get it for mine because of the distronic package.. I was bummed about that also....🤣🤣🤣

Hey Delores, thank you! Sorry a little confused, when you put a destination in on the Sat Nav, it’ll always show you the map and the route etc of where to go. Is it oriented the wrong way or something like facing north instead of the way you are travelling?

hey Nick , thanks you for making video that help us a lot, i have just one question . If i copy my cd to usb like "your precedent video" and i have dashcam also in my car , i think that the dashcam will save on the usb that had the music and when it will be full it may erase my music? (loop recording the mode that i want to use so i dont have to erase everytime). Do i need two usb one for dashcam and the other with the music?can this be possible? Thanks for your help.

Hey Momo, thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos! So multimedia systems like MBUX can only read one USB stick at a time so you’ll only be able to use Dashcam or play music on USB. A workaround is to put the music on a phone and play it via Bluetooth 🙏

Hi Nick - another great video, thanks. If I could just come back to the Dash Cam app which I’ve just fitted, it only seems to work (ie, record) when I’m navigating to a specific destination and not when I’m travelling normally without navigation on - can you advice whether this is correct as it seems to me it should record all the time the vehicle is moving ? @@npoleary Hi Nick - I have the augmented reality one, exactly the same as you detailed in your video 'Upgrade your Mercedes with a DASHCAM' about a year ago. I've resolved a couple of issues since I messaged you earlier but I still have two queries - 1/ my dash cam video seems to record in 30 second files rather than one continuous recording so playback is a nightmare having to continually open & close new files - this can't be right, what's the solution please ? 2/ what's the best & quickest method of converting the files for playback ? Thanks as always in anticipation. Roger.

Hey Roger ah all Dashcams do this with multiple recordings. Even my GoPro’s when recording on the road do it as well. It is annoying as when I’m editing I have to stitch them all together but there is a very good reason why. And it’s purely because when recording video continuously, the chance of something going wrong on the USB drive are far higher. So if there are multiple files, you’ll only loose the one you’re currently writing to and not the whole thing. It’s a more precautionary measure. With converting files I have details on how to do it Pinned to the comments section and are in the RU-vid Description too 👍🏼 To enable playback on your computer, you may need to convert the file format from .mp4 to .mov. I did this for the footage captured in the video. I used cloudconvert.com/mp4-to-mov for the conversion which only took a couple of minutes.

@@npoleary Hey Nick - thanks for all the info. above, I've been able to convert a few video files and playback successfully but will look for a 'Free' converter as most seem to be chargeable. You mentioned about 'stitching' together your files when editing - is it possible to stitch together several or more recorded files (45sec. each) before converting them to mov. format for playback or can it only be done afterwards, just though it would save a lot of time in the conversion process. Thanks again.

If your editing program can stitch them together then yes but it depends what you’re using. I had converted mine first and then stitched it together

Ah if you just change dynamic select, this will adjust the steering weight too. Comfort will be normal and Sport will be slightly heavier 😎

In petrol and diesel cars, they control the paddles 🤓 In Electric cars it controls the brake recuperation 👍🏼

I have downloaded the dash cam app onto my 2021 CLA which is good, however I appear to no longer be able to listen to music downloads on a different USB memory stick whilst recording through the dash cam. Is this correct?

Ah thanks Harrod, that’s right Multimedia systems can only use one USB-C port Mercedes at a time. So the only workaround is to transfer music onto something that can play music over Bluetooth (iPhone or iPod or even an MP3 player). I believe this would also be a limitation of the computing power of a multimedia system too to write MB’s of data every second for the dashcam and also read MB’s of data for music playback at the same time.

I have a 2022 mercedes with a different wheel set up to what you show. Previously I had a 2017 merc and was so happy with it that i asked for the exact same again when i was changing my car. The 2022 car is identical (E class) but the new steering controls are truly DREADFUL. The controls are touch sensitive and are supposed to be activated by flicking your thumbs over the buttons (not by pressing them). They don't work! either nothing happens or they move too far. This is further complicated by the fact that the dials (speedo etc) are digital and can be changed by the same buttons. Bottom line is that I never touch the buttons any more because the results are too unpredictable. Far far below the quality standards that I would expect from mercedes.

Hey Paul, I’ve kind of covered the steering wheels most commonly found in Mercedes-Benz at the moment. I know the one you mean with the twin spokes coming out, I’ve only seen it on a couple of models at the moment. I’m sure it’ll make an appearance soon!
