Great video, very helpful. I have a question about fuel pump. My 2003 vito w638 doesn't have electric pump in fuel pump assembly. Is that normal, does vito 2003 come with Electric fuel pump in fuel tank. Thanks

Thank you for the video. compared to others I have watched your focus is much better and clearer. I have just replaced the diesel filter on mine becuase my mechanic was worried he might break the clip on the hose you replaced. I used diesel from old filter to fill up new filter but due to slight spillages it did not fill to the top. Therefore I am guessing I now have air in the system and wondering how to bleed it. Cannot find a lift pump anywhere. Any quick ways to bleed it? Looks like there is a bleeding screw on the top of the filter, I have tried removing it and cranking the engine hoping to see diesel pump out but no luck with that so far. Not sure which of the hoses is the best one to release for bleeding. The one most left seems the obvious one as it will be the easiest and is probably also the highest point for air to escape. Any advice will be appreciated.

Hi, I need a bit more info: what is the van currently doing? Is it not starting?
@terryjoker7655
@terryjoker7655 7 лет назад
The van was running fine. I just removed the diesel filter and replaced it, but realise in hindsight I should have properly filled the diesel filter. After replacement, it started normally, then cut out about two seconds later. I continued cranking but no luck starting (yet). Dont want to over crank it Today I filled the filter to the top on the left side hose (the one that is like a metal a pipe extending out of the filter if there is nothing connected to the filter. Anyhow the battery has now started running flat so I need to put it on charge but cannot find my chargert anywhere. I have a jump box I have put on charge and will use instead until I find my chargert. So in short, yet is it not starting at the moment.

Was not starting, but after a bit more effort managed to get it running. Ran the battery flat and struggled to find my battery charger. Just when I found it and wanted to connect it up, I cranked it one more time giving full throttle and hey presto!! it started.

Hi Many Thanks for watching. Unfortunately, I don't have a clue, Ive seen ones that go into limp mode and wont rev over 3000rpm. Diagnostics might be the way to go. Thanks again.

They won't rev over 3000 if the clutch is depressed or the clutch switch faulty. Had me panic one day.

Hi great video. Just a question would you be able just to change to plastic clip that goes into filter. Will bit of heat release clip and allow new one to ne fitted.
@BoxsCarFix
@BoxsCarFix 6 лет назад
Hi, No I dont think that you can, and I wouldnt do that. The lines are sold by merc altogether. And I would not be using heat on a fuel line. Thanks for watching.

Never mind.. i think it was just the engine mount settle in place The van still have some air after changing the feed line and the other 4 orings on the fuel lines, regulator orings, just missing the oring on the pressure sensor but someone told me this one would be leaking fuel if the seal was bad.. any suggestion? thanks!

Hi. Yes I would expect to see a leak , but, if something is not in good order, needs replacing, is missing, is due for service or you see it as not fit for purpose, then it needs changing. Thanks for watching.

Hi, I don't remember using a manual for this job, it was a while ago. There are some manuals available on eBay. Sorry, not to be much help. Thanks for watching.

@@BoxsCarFix how did you get the part number for the fuel line? I need the number for the other line that goes into the fuel pump. the one to the right and above the one you remove.

@@jonesPossibly Hi I got the part number from the Merc Commercials Dealer, get them to send you a diagram of the fuel lines, they are normally very help full.

hi, appreciate your video! what was the reason for changing the feed line? was it because the clip on the fuel filter was broken or did you have a problem starting the car? asking because my fuel filter clip is also broken thinking it may be the reason its hard to start its also quite loose on the fuel pump maybe air gets in the line?
@BoxsCarFix
@BoxsCarFix 7 лет назад
Hi It was replaced just because the clip was broken. The vehicle had no starting problems. I would not think that is your issue as I would expect a leak to be present. But with all vehicles you have to methodically diagnose what is wrong, not just swap parts. Starting issues - could be a number of things electrical, fuel, air, egr. Good luck finding issue, thanks for watching.

Hi there thanks for the Vid. What's the reason for changing this other than it was broken? Was the performance any different due to it breaking? Only asking as I've just purchased a Vito and mine a few times the engine has just dropped when I came to a halt at a junction. Turned back over after a couple attempts. Thinking Fuel Filter from research?
@BoxsCarFix
@BoxsCarFix 7 лет назад
Hi only reason was that it was broken. Yes it could be fuel, but also a number of other things; EGR for instance. Only way is to methodically diagnose it, but if you are gonna try a quick parts swap; fuel filters are cheap and wont hurt. But if it doesn't work, start diagnosing. Thanks very much for watching and good luck.
