I'd beg to differ on that. All kinds of older MBs are better than these. Suspension is garbage. They also have lots of electrical issues. Read on the forums. Mine has been very problematic. I will say the paint is incredible, especially compared to the w210
MBZ lost a class-action suit and ended up reimbursing everyone who had to replace the SBC pump in their W211. Mine had been replaced by an independent Benz garage in 2017. They got the notice and immediately passed it on to me, along with a copy of their invoice. I took it to the local MBZ dealership, which processed it. I had my full reimbursement for parts & labor from MBZ in about 8 weeks. All good. This was in early 2019. Love my 2006 E350, currently with 183,375 miles on it.
I was considering a W211 myself. But an SBC pump issue would destroy me. Do you reckon they will still replace it if the car I buy didn't have its pump replaced?
@mrb2349 if u buy a used w211, and it fails, they will replace it free. Doesn't matter who owns the car, or when you bought it. 25 years from the year of production. My 2003 is covered until 2028. Unlimited mileage
@@maxxbenzz7842 geez that's such a relief, and it's great that they are honoring their word after so many years. Thank you so much, mind if I ask, are you happy with your car? Should I go for a W211?
Conclusion. The W211 E-Class is a beautiful car, with a generous power offering comfortable ride and fun to drive. If you are considering to buy an E320, E350, E500 you will not regret it. Make sure to do your research and inspect the car carefully
Yes they are very nice cars but you may regret it when multiple airmatic struts decide to do a poo in their diapers within a short time of each other! We're talking several thousands!
It's a great car. I've had issues with a parasitic battery drain that I traced to the passenger power seat module. This is a common problem. I replaced it, and all is good. Other than that just a fuel pump, and cam position sensor. It has 200k miles, and not a spec of rust. Great car for sure!
I had a straight 6 e320cdi cdi with the factory amg kit and wheels some years ago and I absolutely loved it. Missed it so much and always wanted another. Well on Thursday I'm finally getting another in the form of the brabus d6. Full styling and tuning package. I cannot wait I just hope its going to be as reliable as my last one.
@whomst7125 yes I've got it but unfortunately it won't drive 😂 had a new conductor plate and still nothing. I put it in any gear and it will only rev to 3k. Put it in park and it will rev all the way. Doesn't even try to move
In the USA atleast the SBC pump has a 25 year recall on all w211s. Dealership will replace the part for free and give u a courtesy car for the day as well
I’ve got a 2005 e500 amg trim appearance and sprtpkg pano roof and partronic massage seats heated and cooled ... vented backrest.. needless to say it’s a amg clone right out the factory and my buttons are a1 only thing I would say is cheaply made is the sliding armrest tray that displays the cup holders as the pieces fall off the glue strip over time
I like how in all of these videos only the petrol engines are mentioned...must be US thing. In Europe like 80% of these are diesels. Much less problems with diesel engines. Mine has 220 cdi engine and has been driven 354 000 km which i have been driven 80 000 km and not a single problem with the engine itself. Couple small problems that are not related to the engine itself.
I got the same car 2007 Mercedes e350 with 81K miles when I bought it and immediately have problems. First was the exhaust needed to replace, then the Secondary Air Pump went out then check engine light came on for the Cam Shaft Magnet and most recently the transmission went to limp mode. TCM and Valve Body needed to be replace. I could have buy a new car for all my expenses on the this W211 Mercedes.
Merc 320CDI V6 2006 : lovley car centre console switches a bit flimsy V6 diesel extremely smooth quiet & fast Roomy compfy interior Long distance cruiser Only reoccurring prob is limp mode which is turbo related Last of what an elegant Merc should look like Now is the time to buy!
Just letting you know that if you have a Mercedes Benz e w211 with the SBC unit faulty they increased the warranty so call Mercedes Benz and get it fix for free
@@Enzo-tg8uo I was talking about pre 2006 models. E550 is E500 for the European Market, engine is good but 7g tronik transmission is not so. But prefacelifted models come with 5g 722.6 transmission. Very reliable.
Purchased my 2009 E550 in 2012 from my local M-B dealer, CPO with 27k miles. Just over 80k now, still looks and runs great. By far the costliest repair was the air suspension (all four corners, replaced the rear units about 3 years ago and the front units within the last year). No mechanical issues, but the COMAND unit’s Bluetooth function no longer works correctly with my phone. So far, I’ve chosen to live with this rather than go through the hassle of installing a new unit, which I understand is the only way to deal with this particular issue. Otherwise, it has been an enjoyable car.
was same problem on my 2004 e270cdi but not air suspension but air suspension pump fixed it once was pretty expensive fix but was running for 2 years without problem
Front air struts and a new pump run $1,060 for parts. Rears are close to $500 for the pair for parts. If you do the labor yourself, it’s much cheaper. Just follow the Mercedes’ technical manuals down to the letter.
Had an e270 put 300k + kms on it without any major problems until i crashed it on a snowy night last winter .. i think e270 is most reliable trim . God i miss it so much !
My 08 E550 is putting me in the poor house , replace cracked wheel 1200 , constant airmatic malfunctions , 2 new front control arms and under shrouding 900 dollars , broken sun roof , crackling speakers , wine from engine upon hard launches , 3 brand new engine and trans mounts 1000 bucks and on and on and on.......
Marty Key yeah my 2007 E550 had the camshaft issue. Check engine light would always come and go and there would be very very very slight shake at idle. Cost $3000 to fix. Luckily I bought the car with a warranty, so I didn’t have to pay anything out of my pocket to get it fixed.
Only if you don't change the PCV valve and case connector from time to time. That's how the oily soot gets deposited into the intake creating those issues over a few hundred thousand miles.
if you're unlucky enough to have the W211 with the 7-spd trans , expect it to fail around 80K miles ... a common problem ... M-B will not acknowledge design failure , but the dealership will happily replace and reprogram for approximately $7500 . note : only an M-B dealership or mechanic with the $$$$$ M-B Star computer system can reprogram , forcing return to the dealership and supplementing M-B's coffers ~ for a problem they created
Spend moolah on the best, most fixable luxo car now as the tech on newer luxo cars and the coming electro invasion is gonna price many of us plebs out of nice cars soon😂
Only the 2005 - 2007 E350 and E500 have the balance shaft drive cog wear issue. It is caused by the part manufacturer incorrectly tempering the balance shaft drive cog which slowly wears its teeth causing camshaft timing issues.
@@edwardandrade4390 Had to replace the entire intake manifold on my E350 when the plastic tumble flap had issues. The flap can be removed and replaced with a non-factory metal part--mine broke during the procedure, thus the entire manifold needed replacement.
@@Surfgypsy52 yeah the dealers just don’t want to deal with it. I wrote directly into Mercedes’ Benz australia direct. Claiming is was not lawful to cover it in another country and not here. Had the whole job and brand new unit replaced free of charge
The facelifts are better mechanically, but the gasoline engines are not as good as the diesels. I have a 08 220cdi 170hp myself and there are no problems at 200k kms so far
Please add to that list the electrical issues: parasitic drain, bcm, battery fuse relay, fuse junction box ( below passenger floorboard), the seat control modules, and the transmission issues: leaking trans connector, bad conductor plate, bad shift solenoids. I only know this because I have suffered every possible mercedes issue with the W211. I own an 03 E500 Sedan btw. It has otherwise a very reliable ENGINE, but the car??? Overall not so much... :(
I have a w211 3.5 from 2005 I need help sometimes when am driving I lose power so I pull over turn off the engine and back on and is ok the engine light is on what is it is it transmition problems???
@@freddysmalls187 Any good news about the car? Btw is it a petrol or diesel? Just about to get myself a 350 petrol with the 7g automatic gearbox...I'm a bit worried...
I don't know shit about Mercedes......but I have the opportunity to possibly purchase an 05 E320 4matic with only 38k. Car is my bosses Mom's car, she is elderly and the car wasn't driven much because her eyesight started to go. Her kids drive her basically everywhere now. They only took it to the dealership for service and have all the maintenance records. Too good to pass up? Or future 💰 pit?
@@whomst7125 that car was complete shit. Worst car I've ever owned, put 6k into fixing it in 3 years. Selling it was the best decision we coulda made. Bought a reliable GM with a 3800
Not affected by the balance shaft drive cog wear issue... however, all earlier W211s had the brake by wire SBC system. I love the features and feel of the SBC. In the US, MB warrants the SBC pump for 25 years (I believe).
Bought 2006 model and had SBC problem within the first year of use which is fucking expensive otherwise its a good car with balance to withstand rough terrains
Please don't recommend after-market body mods. If the buyer cannot appreciate the car they should run off to buy something they do like--they are only causing huge problems for future owners. Antique houses and vintage cars retain their premium values only without such vandalism.
I have 05 e280 CDI european inline 6 and my god it was nothing but trouble, stay away from this car. I have it for 4 years and it costs roughly 2000$ a year for repairs just to keep it on the road..
Buy a Lexus, more reliable and same great ride and quality. I had a 2002 E320, and every time I had a problem, it was $1500-$2000 shop bill. No thanks.
That's because you didn't work on it yourself lol. I have 04 e320 paid 6k for ot with 120k had it 1 year daily driver only problem I can't fix is a teleaid error which is nothing. I changes oil myself brakes spark plugs full audio upgrade 👌
Scotty is not a car guy, he onlu sees the car as means to go from A to B and its pointless when u can get cheaper cars and more reliable. But most people just want luxury or sport thats why they buy them 😊 because it gives them a feeling of joy when u go around the corner with bmw or smth else
I thought Mercedes Benz was "nothing but the best" according to them, too many issues for a car that costs that kind of money. Engineers at Mercedes should be castrated (assuming they a males) so they don't pass the genes.
Was made very well? W211 was one of the lowest quality cars ever came out of Stuttgart. The post facelift cars were hitting the industry average but pre facelift cars are endless money pits. No wonder they are dirt cheap.
