We had a 2 stroke 150 yamaha on our 18 whaler for 8 years. It’s Achilles heel was the tiny oil filter in the boat mounted oil tank. The tank and the filter needed to be removed and cleaned out yearly.
i just purchased a 1990 ebbtide catalina 190 and its got the same merc 150 4 stroke (2015) its been three times already since getting the boat ill be docked up or anchored up, ill start it up and when i start to pull away someone will say theres no way you cranked over/ started it up- i didnt even hear it! beautiful sound when opened up and the wake is pretty good im excited for next season to get the tube in tow
