Mercury Verado engines capable of 300-400 hp stock depending on variant You think that’s nifty they added one with 600 hp that the engine can’t swivel, only lower unit does. Super cool 😎 Loaded down they sound a lot more quiet. There’s a mode where it passes more exhaust gas underwater to go “stealth” vs “sport” lets some out from some kind of bypass Science rules
to be honest those engines dont have to be running at their highest rpm to be effective, i think the propelly would spin too fast most of the time if it were to be true 1:1 ratio
@@mahuba2553a reduction gear i used to reduce crankshaft rpm down to several hundred propellor rpm. Too high of propellor speed = cavitation which will destroy it in short order.
Os motores de alta rotação têm a configuração super quadrada ou seja, o curso é bem menor que o diâmetro do pistão. Dessa forma a velocidade dos pistões durante o giro dos motores é mais amena.
And would be useless on the street as it's torque curve is built specifically for a steady throttle. Not designed for constant variation like a street engine. Two completely different designs.
@@dalemaloney5803transmission is the combination of gears, joints and axles that transfer power to the propeller. A gearbox is part of that combination and makes it possible for the engine to be mounted that way
@@typicalleep1143my guy it’s literally a v8. There is another cylinder a little lower than the grouped 3. Also they literally said it’s a V8 on the short description
Will it turn the rpms and provide torque or HP up high in the rpm range like a 2stroke and will the rod bearings last as long as a two stroke needle bearings on the rods
Damn. I'm old enuff to remember back "in the day" when a 35-HP Evinrude two-cylinder outboard was the ultimate powerhouse! BTW Merc also makes a V-12, but way beyond the means of us peasants.
It’s 300,000 I believe! I have a buddy who is a Mercury tech and has been for for 30 years ! They sold a V12 last summer and he sent me a video of him setting it up and the price tag that went with it .. I could be off but not by much
Man that thing runs SMOOTH! So smooth it reminds me of the first time i started my Husqvarna mower with the Honda motor. I was using a Craftsman with a Briggs on it and that damn thing sounded/felt so rough. I bought my Husqvarna and man I'm telling you, i pulled that rope and it was just on. I actually questioned whether it was running or not. Just as smooth as it mows over whatever. Holds rpm no matter what. This boat purrs!
Damn 😳 sounds like a hellcat. Edit: I'm so sorry for wasting everyones time, I was wrong. I just thought it sounded slightly like a hemi at idle, but most V8 engines sound like that anyway. I was wrong, I will admit that.
Can not wait to hear the new Formula 7 - 5 rotor....been v8 guy for all my moons, but....that sound...his old 4 rotor along w/Dahms....make Angel's openly WEEP!!
This reminds me of when I was a kid and my family was testing the aircraft engines we would build. My dad and grandfather would be outside the shop with system similar setup to this except it was much larger trailer. I can still remember the feeling of the wind whipping around me and rumble from engine.
That sounds awesome, I never thought families would build aircraft engines. Always seemed too complicated. If you don’t mind me asking, how that came to be?
@@stuartd9741how you know it’s cold? Could’ve been brought to proper temps prior to the filming. But, you rather feel righteous. So enjoy that sweet feeling of a rare win even if it’s in only your head.
Wow, never seen a vertical v8 so compact. I see the commets about oiling which is understandable and the first thing I wondered about, I used to aircraft engines where some have oil systems for any orientation so not that unusual, but they work best the right way up whereas this will obviously always be on its end. Lets hope its a really great crankshaft seal otherwise the water behind you will have awesome rainbow patterns in it.
Merc tech here... and I can say if I saw this type of shenanigans going on I would void your warranty. This is the absolute stupidest thing u can do to a brand new motor! Sucks to be that customer 😕
I can't get enough of the sound. from the starter motor, the idle, the revs, ohh music to my ears. (listened through BT power amp & beyer dynamics iem)
A V8 is still a V8 !!I have a V6 Volvo on mine and doesnt sound like that ,still sounds good ,good power for a lake is more than enough, boats are insane and the jetskys (amg) ,waverunners ( new ones, seadoos) love am all.
One of my buddies in Santa Barbara is a commercial fisherman and he came across and abandoned drug running panga boat with three massive outboard engines. The police tried to seize it but he had already utilized maritime law and spray-painted his information on the side of the boat. The police did in fact take it for evidence but they gave it back to him by law. I think he made about $40,000 off of the engines! It's a great story. I don't really understand the maritime law but it works if you do it correctly.
@@jakobfromthefence that's funny! The cops were pissed and said that the boat was evidence and they arrested him at the harbor and then let him go five minutes later with no charges. About 45 days later they released the boat to him. Apparently the fisherman knew the maritime law better than the cops!
Hahaha. I am visiting in Santa Barbara right now! Care to explain the maritime law even though I do not own my own boat? Maybe I can help someone with it some day …
@@bycycle2358 copied from google: "The legal entitlement to a salvage reward arises when a person, acting as a volunteer (that is, without any pre-existing contractual or other legal duty so to act), preserves or contributes so to preserving at sea any vessel, cargo, freight, or other recognized subject of salvage from danger".
@@nobux717 Why? Those things are so comfortable! I get my license early 2024. I am going to buy a beautiful Lincoln Continental! Since they are now so old, they are very affordable! They glide over bumps like no modern car can. In fact, modern cars would likely break over those holes. For $1000, I can get a Lincoln Continental Mark V! That is only one week pay! The one I am wanting to buy has 88,000 miles on the odometer! It was used as an airport limousine shuttle but was forgotten. It is mine!
I just looked up on something online. That engine probably is about 300 horsepower just the way it looks. That's cool looking. Good luck with it. Thank you.
It looks like they have a purpose-built set up so I'm sure that hose has plenty enough pressure, I mean it's not like the lake has pressure, the impeller is literally sucking it into the engine from the lake so you don't have to have much pressure just make sure you have enough gpm
@@farley4633 wrong. Lake water and speed underway is what these engines need to maintain water pressure. 6000 rpm on a garden hose is enough to boil water inside an impeller housing.
As some who last had a Mercury 9.8 hp almost 50 years ago this is not only an awesome piece of engineering but an awesome piece of art too . Guessing a price tag upwards of a Vangogh too. 😂
