I feel like there might either be a spin-off that focuses on a new hospital and a new group or if the series continues beyond; it’s a new show with a new “chapter” with the same characters and a few new “leads”. Kind of like the closer and major crimes on tnt.

It feels real like it’s Ellen talking through Meredith cause everyone knows she wants to leave but she also knows that the minute she leaves a lot of people would lose their jobs
It feels like they are about to seriously start setting everyone up to finish their stories, and the show, next season and I'm truly excited to see that. It's been a long time coming, Ellen is tired. She's earned her right to leave, like Meredith said. It's honestly not fair that they put this on her in the first place and told everyone that the show goes on as long as she wants. Ellen shouldn't have that pressure on her. She loves her cast and crew and shouldn't have to feel like everyone getting the axe when she leaves is her fault. ABC should have done better by her.
Honestly and the show has been falling off for a while anyway. The right thing to do would have been to just pull the plug a while ago but instead they decided to keep going because it’s their cash cow
@@goosebabyj I think they will do spin off in season 19 Mer coming back when Zola is joining the program they will do it as Ellis but Mer doesn't have Alhzimers.
honestly if anyone holds a grudge against Ellen for wanting the show to end, that's weird. This show has been running for a LONGGG time it's not like it's the 2nd season of it and Ellen is causing everyone to lose their jobs... like no it's going on it's 19th season, it's time to end for the sake of the story and characters. It shouldve ended years ago.
Poor Mer, she wants to go. But everyone wants her to stay. This was as much aimed at the studio and fans as at Nick. I just wish she could have done this at Richard and Bailey too. The bit where she says all the rest of her class got to leave really got to me. Not only did they leave but they all got to be happy. Even George is happy, which we know from the beach scene. And that applies to the fictional characters and the real life actors. No amount of money is going to compensate for that. Also pleased that Nick is still willing to take it slow and get to know Meredith's kids and do the whole dating thing. He's not saying he's up ending his life and jobs permanently for her (yet). He's taking holiday and working locum. It's not a "marry me" moment.
Yes, it's very realistic and at the same time refreshing how slowly they're taking this relationship. Perhaps long distance has helped, but he's being introduced in her life one step at a time and he's being very respectful of her boundaries.
This scene just felt so raw and real. I can see that the end is near . When i first saw this scene i was upset but now seeing it more . It feels like its so right . Love Mer and I can't wait to see where her story ends.
This scene has EVERYTHING. It’s so so good. The way they treat each other, MerDer COULD NEVER talk like that. I absolutely love how they start to draw out the perfect ending here. I am so excited for how this turns out.
What she needs... with the person that I wanted her to end-up together since Nick first show up 😍 [Ellen and Scott are friends in real life and she wanted him back for some time now, but he was already committed to other projects when she asked, timing was never ideal]. He's going to help her to save the program, make peace with Richard, let them understand that they don't "own" her and Nick has her back. She can go and be wherever she wants to be. He could be the guy who says: "OK, let's go" but instead he wants her to leave with and in peace with her "family" from Grey-Sloan, tells her that she would feel bad to leave if the place gets ruined and offers to work there to help saving the program and then she could do anything she wants. PLUS, about their relationship he wants to "do the things in the right way", by wanting to really meet her kids and have dates with her so they can "really-really" date and know even more about each other. What better guy can he be?
@@bloopersseriesvostfrbyemsb6131, I liked them together and I still would like to see them together but at this point and I mean this all season, Link is always in a bad mood, saying to Jo that he decided that everything that goes wrong is Amelia's fault, being mean to Amelia even when she is trying to talk about their son and now he is jealous of Jo and Todd. Link became an entire different person and not in a good way.

But if Amelia in the end married Kai and considering having more kids with him, I will be so mad at her for assuming link was delusional to wanted to married her in the first place. So she better stay on what she said to Link . Otherwise I really appreciate Nick Meredith it's refreshing and the take it slow and gently
derek ditched the president...thats not a dream, thats the dream. why would you even want a person to give up dreams? i feel like ,,power couples'' need to understand that their lifestyle sometimes will require long distance (but the money of 2 incomes should make visiting more possible)
That's not really fair, is it? Derek abandonned Boston because Meredith didn't want to move. He lost his dream of curing Alzeihmer (something she never regretted) AND nearly lost his newly adopted daughter because of Meredith and still found it within himself to forgive her. He took a step back to allow her to focus on her research and got approached by the President. He didn't ask for it, they came to him. That was another once in a lifetime opportunity that he was willing to give up for Meredith but she was so afraid he would end up resenting her for it that she pushed him into accepting the offer. And then he came back anyway. Derek had a lot of flaws character wise, but no one can say that he wasn't willing to sacrifice his dreams for Meredith.

This was such a great scene and in my opinion the best of the episode hands down (sorry, Addison). Meredith had been bottling up for way too long and she deserved a chance to explode. Nick, on the other hand, was once again ready to listen and understand. I absolutely loved that he didn't take offense in being misunderstood but let her vent and then cool off before he spoke again. These two are it for each other and I hope the show won't ruin them.
Nick’s idea to save the program and then leave is a good idea. It can end on a happy note. Maybe old cast members can return for the final episode or in a dream sequence where everyone is reunited. Meredith/Ellen has given everything to this show. If the rest of the cast and crew wants to stay on, maybe they can fast forward a decade to Zola starting her residency at Grey Sloan Memorial.
I love them so much... these two are so pure and so incredible together... i seriously want a relationship like theirs... i want a partner that understand me just as well as they get each other and is able to just know what i need... i love these two so much... they bring me so much joy...
I agree God how can they guilt trip I mean her kids took it better than they did and said they would be ok if they had to move because they want her to be happy like come on at the end of the day she has to make this decision for herself and her kids
I have been waiting for Meredith to say all this and while I’m sorry it’s Nick who had to listen instead of all the so-called friends and family (Maggie? Seriously?) who have spent the episode berating her, I don’t think her words were wasted because let’s be real, they were aimed at a large part of the audience as well.
I wish too but am hoping she comes in S19 with a combination of Medusa, the S12 where she speak her mind anyone crossing her, attitude and Badaad S16 during court hearing and combine with this I need her to bring Thunder to Richard, Bailey, Maggie, Catherine, Jackson in S19 I need her to bring it on like she did when Amelia pushed her to far she needs this thunder for them.
I can't say enough how glad I am that they brought someone back from a previous season. Their relationship was set up perfectly. Didn't know if I could ship her with another guy after Derek but I love her and Nick!
Nick and meredith its the endgame us fans need for to finish greys anatomy. This to are an amazing lovely mature couple . Writers have the story to how end meredith next season in the right way whith the right guy. They have to do it for us the fans .
Damn, that made me really emotional for some reason🥺 Both Meredith and Ellen have earned the right to leave. It's strange to think that something I grew up with will be over soon in a way, but it was a hell of a ride and I'll always treasure this show and it's characters❤
so do we look at a final season, meredith saves the programm and leaves and we than either see Zola return as a resident or meredith as the chief of surgery return in the final 5 minutes.
I feel like she's talking about leaving and ending the show. She's right! Its been over 17 years since the first episode and everyone has left. I feel bad for wanting more of it, more of her.
It's ridiculous how they're all treating her like a traitor because she wants to experience new things and move on with her career. Everyone else left, why wouldn't she? It's sad but that's life. She's not tied to Grey Sloan Memorial by a pact of blood, lol. One thing I find frustrating about this storyline is that it further shows how dumb the conflict between Meredith and Derek was in S11. The writers treated Derek like a villain because he wanted to move and, here Meredith is, ready to do the same thing. Only in her case she's "earned it" and in Derek's case he was an ass. Ironic.
i think there is a big difference between the two situations, people compare this to the Derek/Mer fight about leaving, back then Derek has already achieved so much, worked in different places, he had a practice in NY then "moved" to Seatle for a fresh start/challenge, then he achieved more things, while back then Mer was literally at step 1, just about to "start" her career, in a place she felt belonged, back then she had to stay at Seatle, first she had to prove herself as a good surgeon then she had to achieve something at this hospital, that connected to her own mother, somehow she felt she had to stand on her two feet and earn her name or continue her mother's path as a Grey, to be extraordinary on her own, but at the beginning she needed it at this hospital and with her people around her, other wise she wouldn't have found her footing or wouldn't even be free. the situation back then didn't necessary paint Derek as the bad guy, but since he was the one with so much accomplishments already, and pushing/forcing the moving on her to follow a new dream, it was selfish of him, esp while she hadn't achieve or accomplish anything AT ALL YET, ALSO like she said it, if she moved back then she would have always been dr/Derek's wife. now if she moved, it's her choice, since Derek is dead, it's her decision and hers only to leave or move, since it's normal, she only herself and her kids to think about. NO ONE else has any right to bully her or belittle her for that decision, or call her disloyal or selfish, sorry she gave enough for this hospital, and if they need her they at least could ask or convince her nicely with love! not by bullying and guilt her
Let's face it, moving wouldn't have changed anything for Meredith career wise. There was nothing she could do at Seattle that she couldn't do in Washington. But Derek *was* offered a position in Washington to do something he couldn't do at Seattle and, frankly, I think he was owed this chance after the whole Alzheimer trial disaster (but that's another debate) Throughout the show, Meredith's character was shown to have a deep atrachment to Seattle. Like she said, it's the place where she build her first family (MAGIC), met her soulmate (Christina), the love of her life (Derek), her sister (Lexie), the place where she met her daughter (Zola), yhe place where she became a kickass doctor just like her mother before her... Meredith was emotionally rooted in that city in a way no one else in her life was. And i get that. I think that alone was enough reason not to want to leave. Her position back then was totally valid, but so was Derek's and the writers totally made him out to be the bad guy who just wanted to outshine the sun or whatever. I just wish they had handled it differently, but at least Derek's ending will forever be better than Izzie's or Georges' lol.
Derek had actually promised to step _back_ from work. He agreed to be home with the kids and working part time. But he backed out from his promise. He was years ahead of her in his career and his job was always going to be more advanced and have more exciting opportunities. She would never catch up. So his career would always have won, and she would never have become who she could have. I think it was worth fighting to make their relationship better. If he hadn't died it would have really improved their relationship.
And just like that...memories like George deciding join the army, Izzie telling Mer she needs to start over, Cristina realizing in the shower there's no point anymore to be in Seattle and Alex writing a letter come up... it's really all coming to an end. I hope S19 (and eventually S20) to be the last.
Y'all Ellen gets paid 20 million a year. can we stop feeling bad for her having to stay on greys. I'm pretty sure no one is holding a gun to her head. She is very well compensated and with 20 million, she can go Greys and never have to work again but yea the show does need to end.

Yes Ellen gets paid a lot, but that reflects how essential the studio and producers think she is to the show. And with that Ellen feels responsible for all the cast and crew that have jobs because of her/Grey's. Ellen will be fine. But that doesn't mean everyone else will be and maybe she doesn't want to feel responsible for all of them.
@@carriew5106 the show is going to end at some point. If could end today or in 5 years but at some point, it will end, and everyone else can get a job on some other show. That is the nature of hollywood and they all know exactly what they signed up for. If she was truly truly unhappy, she should move on. The cast and crew will understand that she has given the show her best and has looked out enough for them. Take for example when sarah drew was fired, she was devastated and you know what, she's been on like 4 shows since then. They are talented and they will all be just fine without greys. The execs are the people that will miss out of all the money greys makes them.
Meredith grew up so much. In the past she would have give up to the man who speaks in such confidence about her life, her choices, her needs, persuading her that he is right(ehm.. Derek..). But now she talks back, she knows who she is, what is her worth and that she is the only one who knows best about herself. I'm so glad she said all of that and that Nick really listened. The part that annoyed me most in his speech was when he said she shouldn't move *for him*, like she is that innocent intern that Bailey still thinks she is. She wants to move because she received this amazing opportunity to do ground breaking research and have her own lab and team and because she needs a fresh start from Seattle. Nick being there is only an added bonus, but definitely not the reason.

They don't know how to end the show, and to be honest, just like anything else, life goes on. I remember the series finale on ER and they ended it the same way they started it, an ambulance coming in with another patient, full circle
It feels right for her to leave. She told Cristina back in S9 that she wants to stay because the good memories outweight the bad. But after Derek died and Deluca and after Alex, Jackson, April and all the others left... I think it feels m Natural for Mer to leave the nest aswell. Not to mention the new storylines it would bring. I give the show 2 more seasons, so move her to Minissota and let her drop in from time to time at grey sloan.

She has done so much for the hospital she deserves to move and not be guilt tripped by people like bailey who never has mer's back anyways- e.g. the fraud case. Ok so mer/ellen wants to leave...Have her leave and change the name of the show to surround the new main character (Jo, Levi, Richard, Baily, etc) You can keep the show without her, theres many characters we all love. Soft reboot it!
Meredith is to nice she should have just left as planned. Doctors come and go. That hospital needs to shape up. Bailey I like better as a surgeon. As chief not so much. Let Bailey explore other stuff. Let Owen take over as chief besides Richard he was good at it. Greys should have ended a while ago. Everything is drawn out and centers on Meredith leaves the hospital then the hospital is over. 🤦♀️🤦♀️ let that woman move like everyone else got to.
Listen Ellen gets paid 20 million dollars!Also she herself has said that she would not get this type of work or money anywhere else at this point in her life which means because Hollywood is a horrible place for older actress, this is the best place for her. She wants to be here there just as much because it benefits her. Yes, she will leave and it will eventually end. The point is Ellen has the power in this show and she is using it.
Put simply, burnout comes from a deep imbalance. Too much stress with too few rewards. You're exhausted, depleted. You no longer have patience, pleasure, or serotonin. This is the end, unless... You turn it into something else and find your path to recovery. Pick the pieces you want from your life and find a new way forward. 12 steps anyone? :)

It's conceivable that they do guilt trip Pompeo about how all the rest of them would lose money and careers if they stopped the show because she left. I'm not saying she's got an awful life and needs rescuing or something. But there might be complicated feelings and relationships involved beyond the money.
@@junbh2 There are ways to accomodate an actor's wish to leave or reduce their screen time, they did it with Patrick Dempsey a decade ago and at the time they thought he was more important than Meredith or Ellen Pompeo. Actually the Minnesota storyline itself would have served perfectly an actress who really wanted to be half out of the show. She however keeps signing contract as a regular and she's also executive producing, so while I'm sure she thinks of the crew at least a little bit, I also believe if she actually wanted to leave or be less involved she would find a way that wouldn't leave anyone jobless.
The women on this show always crush the men when they make a beautiful and thoughtful gesture. Men in the real world would be totally emasculated if the woman they love and cared for did this to them.
When Mer said.. its not fair.. everyone left and took better opportunities and now when I want to leave.. I am dis loyal?? looks like came from a personal note from Ellen's story.. I hope they end the show for good and next season is last one. :) I have loved this show with all my heart.. but good things need to come to an end. :)
I hope they end the show with Mer leaving. Like she said, she and Ellen both have earned that. Maybe they can continue with other characters in another spinoff, but the main show was always Meredith's story and it is time to finish it!
I'm so mad at Richard because meredith put her career, her marriage and her chance at adopting Zola at risk for his wife to get the treatment she needed. She was the one who talked him down when he was about to cut himself open..... and he repays her by calling her disloyal
I think what needs to happen is that they decide before a season that it's the last one and stick to it. That's the only way we're going to ever get an ending for this thing. Also the 18th season final makes 400 episodes so I'd say it's getting to be time to call it.
I mean we're getting a season 19, that's confirmed. But what we don't know yet it it will be the last or if Season 20 is a thing. I'd like to end on 20 seasons, nice round number...or on 20 years run-time that would be 21 seasons.
@@nicolassanchez3047 Either of those options would work nicely they could announce it as Grey's Anatomy renewed for 20th and final season so there's none of what we've gotten in season 17 and 18 seasons that were written as could go either way until the renewal ruined any small amount of suspense that they'd managed to create.

She's been in Seattle too long. It's time. It gets boring after a while and all the constant reminders of everyone who died or left. Now its her turn. She said it herself, no one has earned it more than her.
While I don't like how everyone is treating her decision to leave as a betrayal, I can understand it. Some people stayed for her. Some come back for her. She has been at that hospital since she was a child. The people there have seen her grow and been with her for her best and worst moments. She is the heart of the hospital. She kept the hospital going so it became Grey Sloan. She has been the centre that everybody had to hold on to. Just like how everyone lived at her house at some point. It isn't fair and it's not right, but its because she isn't just a colleague, but family. Everyone else that left, they did it quickly. Alex, Christina, Addison, Jackson, Arizona. Literally overnight or within a few days. Meredith's has been long, drawn out and just up in the air.
nick and meredith are meant to be, i’m gonna say something bold but i don’t think derek was her soulmate, Nick is. he undoubtedly supports her dreams in every way shape or form. he puts Meredith first every time unlike Derek
But I still think MerDer was way more iconic as a TV Show couple, elevator scene, post it marriage and then they got married again (legally) to adopt Zola, and the one time he danced for her like Cristina used to do for Mer.
@@newyorkcity6454 It's true her soulmate used to be Cristina, but it's been years since she left and Sandra Oh isn't coming back. There's little indication that they're even speaking much anymore and I really believe that with Nick the show has given Meredith a soulmate that can be there for her.
