Thanks for this. I've found it very helpful. I've always stayed away from the slant razors because they look like they would give me the kind of shave that you've been having with them. You've just confirmed that for me. I've also stayed away from the Futur because I've heard that they were quite aggressive and I'm not fond of the look of them. I LOVE my Rockwell 6C and totally agree that it is one of the best razors out there. Another great razor is the Karve Overlander. I have it in brass and it is just "butter." Karve claims you can go against the grain on the first pass and I've done that without issues. I also have the Karve Christopher Bradley with an open comb "C" plate but the Overlander is the best by far. A great adjustable razor is the Pearl Flexi. I've had nothing but great shaves with it but it does weigh quite a bit if you don't like heavy razors. I'm a recent subscriber and I'm really enjoying your content. Thanks so much!!!!
Hi there. I've never used the Futur but I have the knock off Qshave. Wasn't willing to spend the money on a razor that looked like it was going to tear me skin to shreds. I have to say the Qshave on setting 3.5 has given me the closest irritation free shave I have ever had with any razor. For 20 buck on Amazon maybe give it a try. It sure surprised me.
@@OhioShaves the first shave was kinda rough !!! I cut myself using a Gillette Silver blade and had a lot of irritation on my neck!!! I went to a cold water shave on my face and head using the proraso sensitive skin products! Zero irritation and bbs shave on both every time !!!! 💈🪒😁
Respect for shaving your neck like a boss. Everytime I try to shave my neck with a safety razor I always cut myself. That’s why I use a straight razor on my neck instead.
That razor is like shaving with too many IPAs. They call it the guillotine razor for a reason! Have you had the luxury of trying out the REX razors? Its adjustable so you can dial down the slant if its too agressive but its a luxury razor with a hefty price.
No I haven’t. Matt contacted me a several months ago, but he’s so busy. Maybe one of these day’s. I really would love to start working with him. He has a ton of in house products that shavers are really starting to talk about.
Just picked up the Razorock slant razor today because I wanted to try a slant razor as I've heard they are good for sensitive skin. Like you I am a big fan of the 6C. Thanks for the video 👍
@@OhioShaves Well I tried the slant. Seems to be more of a gimmick. Now that's based on one razor and one shave. Give me a good adjustable any day. The slant was just okay. Not the closest shave and it gave minor irritation on my neck. Got a better shave from the $30 King C Gillette I grabbed off the shelf at Walmart IMHO.
For a 37C shaver, let me tell you: you finished off way too good. Also it was making so much razor noise! Mine is muted, maybe I should unlock the top cap a little bit, it got me jealous.
Oh wow! The sound is created with a mic that is intended to amplify sound. A lot of the feedback or Noise you hear from the razor is due to the editing process I go through and creating content on RU-vid. Glad you're enjoying it see you in the next video

This is so asmr. Yay Ohio. Lots of cool and popular youtubers are based in Ohio. Fancy razors are nice to collect. I have this cute one from Portugal called Masamune. I love it. Very safe feeling.
@@OhioShaves glad you took my advice and reached out to them, I’ve got the normal leaf with pivoting head for head shave and love it, got the thorn and too aggressive for me, I got the 6c and had my first shave with it yesterday and had a lovely shave with it
What is felt and what is seen are often different. I had some shaves earlier from which I saw red marks on my face but the skin there felt just fine; and eventually the red marks went away.
When I run my Alan block over my skin I can tell where I got a little too close with the razor meaning it could've been too much pressure wrong angle etc. For me after about a half hour when I can tell how good of a shave I received from razor and blade combination.
I'm not sold on the fact that slant razors are made for people with sensitive skin. I have the same problem when I use a slant and generally get a nic or two.
Usually mild razor like 37c (even though they don't cut you) tend to irritate the skin. I gave away the 39c (long handle version of 37c) and took a B1 slant bar (and a X3 slant too).
Used the 37 c murkur slant first time Saturday wow great shave real smooth WTG ATG touch ups really impressed no irritation etc paired with Gillette Wilkinson sword made in India blade, might try a bic chrome platinum blade in it tommro
merkur 37c is great, but zou have to get used to it at least for a month. A technique with a slant has to be different too. Use it similarly to a shavette with longer strokes and no pressure. Also what helps alot is to angel the razor head in a 45 degree angle agaшnst the grain. Slants are great, but very unforgiving for sure. Get the muehle blades, they are awesome once zou get used to its blade feel (it almost does not exist, but the edge is as sharp as feathers)
Yeah I truly believe that the Merkur Futur adjustable safety razor is the cause of my irritation on my neck. I'm gonna have to not shave for a few days to let it heal correctly. Thanks for your feedback
Sir, after having experienced the 37C, your WTG sends shivers down my spine. I can only go across with it. I got ingrown hair when J-hooking since I "assumed" it wasn't aggressive shaving due to not feeling the blade. Lesson learned.
I have the Razor Rocket version of this the 37 German Slant It’s the best razor I have but getting the Rockwell 6c in a few weeks, so I would see how it goes
You could use familiarity with the details of this razor to decide why it gave you the discomfort that it did. Good guess is something about the either blade gap, blade angle, blade exposure or something in there makes the reason. (Or maybe your choice of blade for this shave - but I missed seeing what you chose, maybe rushed through the video and skipped too many parts).
I'm switching back to the Rockwell 6c as my every day shave because over the past two weeks using the foutur and now the 37C my skin is irritated and it's not looking as clean as it normally does
Dude, I've bought and sold two Futurs thinking that I could get used to it with my increase in skill level. Not going to happen. After 5 years I can shave daily with any razor EXCEPT the Futur.
You mentioned a lot about how the Futur messed up your face, how would you recommend recovering your face? Like I’m not a great shaver, I was thinking of just stopping for awhile
Please an advice mate,,,,,,,,, ,,,,,,because of you have the ''mild razor culture with good blade'',,,,,,,forget all the aggressive razors and keep going with 6c and Merkur 34 as capital. Please find your only one good blade for you and make everythink with this. Gillette Nacet is my blade of choise. Dont use many diferent blades. Give it some volume and a little extra water to your lather. For your style and skin type if you want to go more away,,,this is no necessary,,,go for a gentle mid aggressive general all around razor at the term of mid power. The excellent Parker 97r,,,and maybe a Merkur Progress 500 are your final approach. Don't spend extra money being carried away by the consumer frenzy of the season and marketing. If you really want to expand for your own reasons, try some cheap European boar brushes and Chinese Yaqi synthetics. Many wishes from Greece for health and creativity. You have a really lively and human-centered channel and a good character! ******* One last thing,,,,you can also adjust the Merkur futur to your data if you use two passes, even without go against the grain, with light contact without pressure and haste. Set 1.5-2 as max setting and don't hear anybody. Merkur Futur,,,is not a Rockwell! And a 458 win magnum is not an AR 15 223 rem! It's just a different approach to the subject. If you want other routes, you have to research them first. And they will never be the same. It's one thing to drive a family car and another to drive a M1 Abrams battle tank. ****** The biggest mistake we make is to aim for the ultimate BBS. We want to shave,,,not to feminize our skin. Let there be a little male shadow after a healthy shave,,,it's not bad at all!😊
