I would take a hundred Tammy Wynette's over a Carrie Underwood or any other so called country artist today...the molds have been broken with the passing of Loretta Lynn and Tammy, may they RIP.

The stage lights up when Tammy appears! She was like a comet blazing across the cosmos, leaving a trail of light behind her, which still shines to this day.
Merle Haggard, Tammy Wynette, Conway, Loretta, Johnny Cash, Grandpa Jones , Stingbean, Roy Clark , The Carter Family, I could spend all night remembering my favorites
Now I know why this was George Jones favourite song because his favourite male singer Merle and the love if his life Tammy sang it together . 3 legends of real country are up in heaven making more duets together RIP legends
Truly a classic...it just doesn't get any better than this! This is when country was really country and country artists were genuine! Not 1 hit wonders.........Merle and Tammy your are a god send!
I've lived a long hard life...and when i hear this song..all those years melt away...and i'm a kid in the kitchen singing this song with my mama..I cannot express my thanks enough to you for posting this song...thank you.
This is a lovely song....it would be a good song for two people, falling in love all over again....after a long time apart....the guitar plaing is so intense...makes me melt inside...thanks,nice one!!!
The real deal! No fancy voice enhancers or echo machines, just plain old fashioned good and pure singing from two real singing stars, showing the world how it's done. great show and great post many thanks
Tammy Wynette what a voice! Not only a very strong voice but, always in control and on her sad songs she literally has a tear in her voice, it can't be duplicated.
She was asked about that catch in her throat when she sang. She said it just happens, and she has no control over it. She could, however, control the rest of her singing. Funny that the part that really set her apart was something that just happens.
@john9944 Merle and Tammy 2 of music best ever both legends perfect example of real country music at its best. thanks for sharing ! Awsome John Awsome.

Country music was so very good back in those days. What a team Tammy and Merle were great together. Not many topped these two. To have met Tammy in person was indeed a great honor for me even if it was long ago. I love you still Tammy - you were easy to love.
When I first heard Tammy singing Apt #9 back in 65 (?), I instantly fell in love with her voice. She was/is/always will be my favorite female country singer. As for Merle, he could sing to me every day and I'd never tire of hearing his smooth voice. What a duet partner each of them made and what a gift each of them are to fans and good old country music, the way it was meant to be.

Agreed... I've voiced similar opinions in various forums and some have agreed while others championed current 'stars' like Chesney and somewhat 'in-betweens' like Alan Jackson. I find them all to be posers and mediocre pop star wannabees that picked country as a commercial venue. Mr. Jackson for instance has a bit of twang in his voice but no discernible song writing ability and seems to capitalize on world tragedies in order to tug on people's heartstrings (and wallets). I find him to be a poser on the highest order. If you want to realize how people can fake it like him... listen to Kevin Bacon doing country on SNL (which btw, is a much more talented individual than many of these so-called country stars today).
One of the greatest duet singers, singing Merle's hit song! First heard this through my mom's ole 8-track player! Sad to see why people dislike sound like this. Merle Haggard is still George Jones favorite singer!
