Purchased the "inside the waistband " holster! It's the best way to carry a heavy revolver! "If" it has a 5" or less barrel! Have 3 revolves 5" barrel! 2 Ruger Blackhawks 1 Freedom arms. Works GREAT! QUALITY HOLSTER! best $135 I've ever spent!
I also bought a high performance rig from them this year. I really like it. I love how easy the guns come in and out of the holsters, but still maintain enough retention I don’t need to worry about the guns coming out when “running” (ok maybe running in my head but probably looks more like a fast walk lol). Went out to their annual match this year and picked them right up from the factory ;). Thought I would need to practice with them for a few weeks before using them at a match, but after just trying them for thirty minutes or so in my hotel room I realized I was already faster with the new rig than with my old one and decided to use them on the second day of the main match. I shoot a age based category and use a 2 handed grip so the transitions from one gun to the other is incredibly faster in this new rig. Anxious to hear your review on the shotgun belt. Planning on buying a little fancier rig from them next time and would like to know if I should get a matching shotgun belt with it. Thanks for all your work.
Great review of a great product, Jed. I've been very pleased with by HP rig and shotgun belt. I sure hope you do a review of the Gunfighter rig. When I got my HP rig several years ago, I shot traditional, but later switched to duelist and then double duelist. So a review of the Gunfighter rig, based on your gunfighter point of view will be of great interest.
Many thanks for the great review, Jed. I too, am a longtime user and fan of Mernickle leather. Also very impressed with the new 'High Performance' series holsters. Very well thought out design. Howlin' Wolf and his family are carrying on a great legacy with Mernickle leather products They make fine cowboy action rigs, and deserve all our support.
I have a bunch of single action 45s. I use Mernicle shoulder rig and have a PS6SA belt holster too. The shoulder rig I cut the middle 6 round loops off to make it easier to get shells out. Use it for cold weather carry and belt for summer wear. I use single actions for ccw everyday carry. I do have 9mm and 357 snubs but love those single actions.
Thanks for this rewiew! I just subscribed. I am also on the fence about wich cross draw rig to buy. Dad and i both have fastdraw rigs from Mernickle and are happy with them. Can the starter rig be adapted into a cross draw?
I believe they offer it with a Cross-Draw… but don’t quote me on that yet… I’m working on getting one for review in the near future so stay tuned for that and we’ll all get a closer look at it. -Jed 🤠
Oh, that’s a vintage (made in the 1920’s) Dobbs. You can see my current hat collection here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-av-FokgLQN8.htmlsi=GtUSnKt7OC0rv5GW
I bought a Mernickle rig based on this review and the one in one of the recent SASS cowboy cronicles. I am very happy about my purchase so far. The waiting time was a fair bit longer than stated when I placed the order (supply issues as far as I understand), but it was worth the wait.
Jed... I stumbled across you surely by accident, but am now a fan and subscriber Sir! I do have one Mernickle Holster (Cross Draw Paddle for a S&W Model 19 2.5 inch/LOVE It) Thanks, Mike...
I met these nice people at EOT 2021 and they helped me pick out some of their discounted holsters and belt and worked diligently to fit them all to my satisfaction. I would buy from them any time I need some gear. Great people and nice as can be.
100% agree with you. I had a fantastic experience with ‘em at CA State in 2019. So, when it came time to purchase a new holster rig I had them in mind for the job.
Thanks for posting this!!! I own one Mernickel holster and I am going to order a whole rig from them. Owner is a stand up guy!!! I plan on giving him my business until I die….lol
I like that you call them “BATMAN” style 😎 They were custom made for me by a local craftsman. I told him I wanted something reminiscent of “flames” (like I’m shootin’ so fast I’m on fire). 🤠
I am glad I came across this video, I have been wanting to get a holster for my Uberti 1875 Outlaw 7.5 inch and now I know I am probably gonna want a dropped holster....do you think I would be better with a 1" drop? or should I go for a more classic longer drop? I have long arms and long torso, but shorter legs... so I am a bit worried about the longer drop holsters sitting to low?
That’s a good question. Thanks did go with a longer drop for my 7.5” revolvers. Honestly… I don’t love drawing from the position. I’d rather have the grips up higher on my hips, even if I have to pull my elbow up to my ears to draw 😉 -Jed
Thank You, I Really appreciate the time and Detail You put into Your videos , You may just sway me to Become a Gunfighter Yet! I want to add that You Do have a Great Camera Image and Presence.
I went to check their website. They are very reasonably priced. I also noticed their sized go considerably beyond my own measurements, so they do cater to the girthy gunfighter. I've seen many who top out at like 46 inches. I stopped scrolling their sizes when I saw 70.
Hey Jedi! Love the channel and am using it heavily while I start in CAS. I’m looking to get some leather now. I’m between the starter rig and the high performance rig. I just don’t know if I absolutely need the HP. But also on the other side of the coin I don’t want to get the starter rig and find that I’m left wanting. I would appreciate your views on the starter rig now as I know how you feel about the HP. Thanks and may the force be with you!
I’m workin’ on getting a Starter Rig from Mernickle for review, since I haven’t had my hands on one. I would expect that it is the same quality and wouldn’t disappoint but I won’t necessarily go “on record” with that until I have one to review personally. Stay tuned for that. -Jed 🤠
Well all I can say is I’ve always enjoyed your reviews of several products. Related to cowboy action shooting. Because if previous reviews. I have purchased Yorks gun wax. Which I think there’s a wonderful job Making My guns look great. My first person view shooting glasses. By #Aimcam. I so appreciate all of your Unboxing videos. But I have to share this one on your new gun belt and Holsters was the best.I really enjoyed it. Thanks Jedi TV. Aloha from Maui Marshalls
Really Nice Holsters and Craftsmanship I Didn’t See This Video In My Feed Again Jed RU-vid Is At it Again😑😐 Either Way Glad I Found It When I Was Searching Your Channel For More 1911 Wild Bunch Videos 😀😊👍🏼 Those New Holsters are Awesome 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
My new carry holster is coming in soon from mernickle can't wait for it is the owb concealed carry holster that I'm going to use around the house and woods mainly because the black bears in my area aren't scared at all and act close to brown or grizzly bears. Still waiting for my 10mm auto I ordered to come in so I'm not wearing it the bluing and hard case on my 44mag ruger
Any chance you could mention some of the variety of the leather workers you were speaking of? As a noob, this is literally the first cowboy leather place I've heard of.
I custom made mine to where the drop is adjustable. 3 buttons you can go from 1 inch to 3 inches of drop with the same holster. I may make another set though cause i like how your pistols sit above the holster instead of in it
I don't like you! And what I mean to say is, maybe I don't want to like you, or maybe I get to feeling we might not get along IRL, but you have fantastic content, good production value, and get the feeling you are sincere and genuine! You have earned my subscription, good sir!
Just getting into cowboy action shooting, but have followed your a couple of years and really appreciate what you do. Have never commented before, so thanks for the great content. Love this review and have probably seen it twenty times. Would really love if you could do a comparison review between this rig and the gunfighter rig.
In the video you say that you prefer the features of the HP to those of the gunfighter. But which features exactly is not clear to me. Can you possibly elaborate further?
I don’t make the holsters, Mernickle Custom Leather ( www.mernickleholsters.com/shop?aff=3 ) does. And, as you can see by the link I provided they make all sorts of different holsters from modern day, to authentic western to b-western, etc… Hope that info helps.
Thanks. I’m very impressed with both their work and work ethic. I did some filming with that Shotgun Belt this weekend so I should have something edited within the next few weeks. -Jed 🤠
@@JEDiTV Next few weeks ?? Maybe it's time to think about rigging a computer platform onto that riding mower, so you can edit and hay the back yard simultaneously?
Back in the day they probably never reholstered, drop the empty and draw the other loaded pistol. They had time to recover their pistol after the fight.
I certainly couldn’t find any historical documentation to confirm this (nor, necessarily, to deny it). I’d say it is a lot more likely that they didn’t carry 2 revolvers and, instead, found cover while they reloaded the one revolver they had. IF the shootout even lasted that long.
Excellent! When you do I hope you will consider using our affiliate link: www.mernickleholsters.com/shop/High-Performance-Series-Dual-Strong-Side-W-One-Reload-Slide-p311965875?aff=3 Thanks! ~Jed 🤠
@@JEDiTV anything that saves me more money and anything that helps small business are both great with me but I go to as one question I want to use my personal carry revolver in these competitions but it's a Kirst konverted with only five shots is that a legal competitive pistol
From the Rule Book: “Five-shot revolvers may load five rounds, but the hammer must rest on a dummy chamber or safety slot/pin in the cylinder to avoid the hammer resting on a live round/cap”.
@@JEDiTV thanks that's what I needed to know hopefully I get to compete against you soon would love to meet a fellow black powder shootist I got into them a couple years ago and now I have a small group of six that get together and shoot man you should see the clouds we create
@@JEDiTV I also normally carry one in a cross draw shoulder holster and t other on my left is the legal in competition ones real gator and the other fake not sure if material is regulated on not but there's a little extra info
I don’t remember exactly… I’d guess 3-4 weeks…. Based on a conversation I had with the owner a few weeks back it’s taking a bit longer now because they’ve experienced a big uptick in sales but haven’t yet been able to staff up to manage it.
How are you doing today jetTV Jedi you are doing today I would like to have one of those holsters and a set of those pistols can you send me the information on the and the phone number where I can reach them I’m sure they’re out of Chicago or wherever they may be
@@JEDiTV what do you use to clean the brass on the 66 I’m new to all this really just been at about a year I posted some of me shooting lol the name is Catyco Claybo I was at Kentucky state scared to death
