Giants and Mets fan here....Harry K I always LOVED! Merrill another one as a south jersey product I also am happy for to FINALLY win! Half my family are eagles fans and as much as I hate viscerally the team and organization, I love.the PEOPLE, the FANS
Matty O and I assume you've been to home games of eagles an phillies..and I assume you get the usual razzle but after the Vikings crew have CRIED and BITCHED and WHINED about eagles fans...I have nothing but more respect for giants, cowboys and skins fans now.
Lol YES and we Raz you when you come up to the meadowlands. It's all in FUN and PASSION! I have a heart that always has had an opening for the passion you guys have in Philadelphia. You're not ALL(80-90% or more like any fan base) some awful, mean, spitting, angry people. Your love of sports, especially "the birds" i alwaysssss RESPECTED! Again, half my family are from Philly, including my father, and 75% of my friends and co workers/customers are Philly fans. I grew up on Harry and Merrill and am so HAPPY for you guys! And yes, spread the word, Giants fans are good people. Blue collar, hard worjinf, passionate fan base like you guys. Congrats and thanks for the comment man. Merrill can now RIP(hope he lives another 10-15 years) like Harry! Enjoy your parade bro! They're special!
Hearing Merrill Reese say, "The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions" brought a tear to my eye. I've been listening to this man broadcast Eagles games my whole life. My dad listened to his broadcasts for all of his life as well. And finally, after so many decades, he got to announce to Philadelphia that the Eagles were Super Bowl champions. What an incredible moment.
George Mason living in Philadelphia for my 28 years rite by cottman an frankford...it was just like Harry calling the phillies world series. For these type of people I get so happy when the city does good. And for the birds to finally get one for Mer and every one in Philly it's beautiful
Hearing Merrill Reese say the Eagles are Super Bowl Champions made me cry just as much as hearing Harry Kalas say the Phillies were World Champions back in '08.
hamhockbeans I kinda feel for Quick. Because as great as a receiver as he was, he never had the opportunity to play in the big one. Hate seeing great player never getting the chance. Especially, great Eagles. But, he got to call the first one the Birds brought home. Had to be somewhat redeeming for him. #flyeaglesfly
TheSecDef Yeah. He was excited for the birds going to the Bowl back in 2005. I am glad he and Dawkins finally got rewarded for all they put in with the Eagles through their time with the birds. Now I feel bad that Chip Kelly let McCoy go he should be getting one. Fly Champs Fly!!
TheSecDef Damn it is going on week two from that day our dreams came true and for me it still feels like a dream. I bet in the home opener what the birds did is gonna hit us like a sludge hammer when all three banners are hung. Especially that Super Bowl one I am gonna get emotional again even before the players get their ring.
hamhockbeans Someobe needs to ring Chip’s neck. Felt bad for Jordan Matthews getting traded this past preseason, too. Sucks for them, but that’s football. I think they’re only raising 1 Banner. Or two...the division champs and super bowl. I’m guessing anyway. But, need to have Dallas in the home opener to troll them. And troll them at the draft, too. HAHAHAHA
This... this is the moment that makes it all worth it... To hear Merrill Reese announce that the Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl Champions is what makes being a fan of this squad worth it for all these years!
I love Cris Collinsworth. He is a great analyst. (He) Has a great voice. There was nothing partial toward the Patriots in his commentary during that Super Bowl. He was giving analyses predicated on the "catch rules" at that time. Rules, as an avid NFL fan I am happy to say, have been discarded.
@@televisionman3093 what a great analyst collinsworth is down right terrible im pretty sure he is drunk half the time and knows nothing about the rules. You brought the catch rule up 2017 collinsworth was wrong almost everytime he was a big reason the "catch rule" was blown out of proportion it was not difficult to figure out cheis just kept making terrible calls.
Another fumble from early in Reese’s career (1978; the one Herman Edwards picked up and returned for a TD when Piscarik tried to hand off instead of taking a knee) is how I first heard of him. Never heard the Giants announcers version of that play..
You know what i love about Reese calling the games? He doesn’t call them like an announcer, he calls them like a fan. He knows the players like his own kids. When we’re up, he’s up. When we’re down, he’s down. Reese is the guy i want to sit next to at a bar watching an Eagles game, hand down.
I tear up when I hear the call of Brandon Graham's forced fumble. It's at that point that I was convinced that the Eagles were destined to win this one. Someone up above was definitely smiling down at us at that point.
As a Cowboy fan, I've always wondered what this guy looks like. Greatness! Thank you so much for posting this. Congratulations, guys. You've now made the NFC East the only all-champ division in football. Way to go! BEAUTIFUL!!! :D
Merrill Reese is a treasure here in the Philadelphia region. Thank you for your decency towards us sir. Nfc is down right now but still the greatest division in the NFL bar none
@@natep9997 I'm looking forward to our next trip to the playoffs, Nate - hopefully, that will be soon, and I'm hoping and praying for the Lombardi Trophy to come to our Eagles again!
That’s like the line about another Philly institution-John Facenda of NFL Films and Channel 10. Steve Sabol said of Facenda “he could make a laundry list sound dramatic”. Re: Reese, never dull..you can always tell how the Eagles are doing by his voice.
Giants and Mets fan here....Harry K I always LOVED! Merrill another one as a south jersey product I also am happy for to FINALLY win! Half my family are eagles fans and as much as I hate viscerally the team and organization, I love.the PEOPLE, the FANS
It's been three weeks since the big win. I've watched this video about ten times. It never gets old. I know for a fact that I'll be watching this for years to come.
It is like a dream. I will say this seeing my father raise his hands in the air and say thank you Lord for allowing me to see this is the most memorable moment of the entire superbowl. I will never forget this. Fly Eagles Fly we waited so long for this.
I hope with all my heart that Merrill Reese is given a Super Bowl ring. He has been a Philadelphia favorite forever . If anyone deserves one it is this man the best announcer ever and his heart is every bit as green as anyone's. Fly Merril Fly !!
JOSHUA LOVEHALL. Ditto. I did not mean Mike should not get one I just ment at the very least Merrill should get one. But sure Mike Quick was not only a long time announcer he was a fabulous player. Rings for both. Fly Eagles Fly Let me add this, a ring for Mike Quick would make up for the absolutely disgraceful treatment that he was given by Norman Braman. That cheap sob presented Mike Quick on his celebration night with an empty golf bag. No Clubs just an empty bag from a cheap-ass multi millionaire scumbag. So absolutely Mike Quick should with out a doubt have a Superbowl ring. . I'm not on Facebook or Twitter or any of that but I hope someone out there starts a movement to get these guys Super Bowl rings.
I’m 32 years old, my entire family and myself are huge eagles fans like a lot of you. My dad always had Merrill and mike on aloe with the game, and I hated it as a young guy. Around 14 years old, I fell in love with Merrill Reese calling the eagles games, and one of the worst times I can remember is his call after the last Super Bowl loss. Since then, Sunday’s are my day of religious radio dial tuning to these men. I can’t tell you how hard I cried when I saw the clock expire and Merrill Reese came through that radio and says “the Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions.” Congrats to the team and fans everywhere. #flyeaglesfly
I love listening to Merrill cover the EAGLES and have for most of my life and to hear him say those LONG awaited words "The PHILADELPHIA EAGLES ARE SUPERBOWL CHAMPIONS"!!! 😁😂😭😵😆😁 was one of the GREATEST moments in my life
From a pats fan congrats eagle nation..y’all deserve it..y’all took it to us and I’m happy for the city...my uncle played with mike quick in the 80’s...he played from 80-88..the silent storm roynell young
Friend, I've always enjoyed the play of Roynell Young - and I've known of his nickname, "The Silent Storm". Roynell is one of the best in the long and storied history of our Eagles - One of the best ever. Thank you.
I missed this broadcast because I was at a party watching it on TV. But I could imagine Mike and Merrill calling this game, and they didn't disappoint. Great job all around!!
For the last few moment of the game, though on delay, I listened to the broadcast on satellite radio, 2000 miles away from home.I knew I HAD to hear these words from Merrill. It reminds me of so many Sunday afternoons back home, sitting with my dad, or taking family drives through Bucks County, listening to games. So glad to see this!
I've been waiting for this shot. I wish it were longer. I could watch the entire game of just him announcing this one bobbing back and forth in anticipation. Love you Merrill.
I am so happy for Merrill. As a child I remember hearing his voice on highlights. I wasn't a huge Eagles fan. But I felt for this man. I am so happy that he got to announce a SUPER Bowl title. He is a great announcer
My son loves this call and can perform it from memory. He makes me do Mike's words and used to paint a mustache on me. It was a bold look. Also, I have to appreciate the 4 guys in the background who manage to relay information and celebrate without making a sound. That is some skill!
Not even from philly and I know how Iconic these two are for this city and the Eagles fans. Never been to this city but I've been a fan of this team since 2004, my first year exposed to football. 2017 was a special year man... I was working at a bar the night. I was the Barman. My boss allowed me to work with my Kelce Eagles Jersey... The whole bar was cheering for the patriots. I cried behing the counter when we officialy won the game. What an amazing feeling ahahah Fly eagles fly
Finally We get to hear Merrill Reese call the Eagles World Champs. Hard to believe Merrill had to wait 40 yrs out where as HK had to wait 28 yrs, Hearing this makes me smile and I almost had tears in my eyes.
Harry had two rings with the Phillies (1980 & 2008), yet he was denied calling the '80 WS, which caused Phillies fans to petition MLB to allow local broadcasters like Kallas to call WS games on the radio. MLB granted this and Harry got to finally call that final out live in '08.
That season, I listened to Merrill & Mike on the radio in my kitchen & I listened to them call the Superbowl game on the radio in my kitchen. I fell to the floor in tears! Still one of the greatest days of my life. Go Birds 💚🦅🏈
@Melissa Ann Nevin I Always Hear Merrill Reese and Mike Quick Every Year and The Last Call is Amazing "The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl Champions Eagles Fans Everywhere This is For You Let The Celebration Begin"!
I watch the game. I listen to Collingsworth and Michaels call it. I get happy that we won. I listen to Merrill Reese a couple years later and I cry from happiness every time. There just lightyears of a difference in emotion.
"The Philadelphia Eagles are Superbowl champions, Eagles fans everywhere, this is for you, let the celebration begin!!!!". I bet he was waiting to say that for decades. This will never leave my head for as long as I live.
It was very cool to see Merrill looking for people to celebrate with after and during each call... such genuine love for the team. Also, I guess he was standing the entire 2nd half????!
I love you Merill Reese Cried listening to you call the final moments. We need audio of merrill talking after the game and during the celebrations. He said some amazing things. 2018 NFL Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles!!!!
Living local legend, just like Harry, Zink, and Gene Hart. Heck, even the late Bill Campbell calling Wilt Chamberlain's 100-point game in Hershey is considered legendary (even to the point that Kobe Bryant, whose father played for the Sixers in the 1970s, could have easily surpassed Chamberlain's record, but benched himself out of respect for the record, as Wilt didn't have a 3-point arc in his playing days).
Dude Merrill Is my favorite sports announcer. The excitement in his voice. His physical excitement in the box. Dude has just an amazing announcer voice. My brother and I had a bonding moment during the win. Just he and I in the garage as my dad and friends watch the game on the big screen making noise. We stayed in the garage glued to every play. We hugged and literally screamed. I was so happy. My brother with his 3rd down dance where he covers his ears and goes "la la la la la" because he doesn't want to see it screw up.
Fins fan here too but I live near Philly. I've heard him calling games my entire life. He is second to none. I'm so happy for him, Quick, and all the fans really. We know the agony of defeat as Dolphins fans obviously. But it's cool to see the Eagles finally win one.
Best video EVER.....seeing it happen was amazing but hearing Merrill and Mike call it really drives it home. Just like Harry in 08....oh the feels. YO PHILLY.....WE DID IT!!!
I am so very very happy Mr Reese got to call a Super bowl win, he most of all in the Eagles deserves a Ring, i know that sounded stupid but he has been here for at least 40 years
Am Steelers fan and it hit me just like you see lifelong Eagles fans. I cried and it didn’t hurt that Tom Brady got beat in another Super Bowl either. Congrats Eagles fans everywhere.
Philly sports fans have truly been blessed with two of the best announce teams of all time, Merrill Reese and Mike Quick for the Eagles, and Harry Kalas and Ritchie Ashburn for the Phillies.
