If you listen to James O'Brien & ride a bicycle, add another 2. How many do you have to subtract if you didn't think about it before, but do have to agree with Colin that giraffes are mightily fishy? It's like those x-tians with their large, almost always misspelled signs that everyone in those categories on the sign is going to hell. I'm counting in how many groups i fall & then thinking about if it might be worth it to turn lesbian to get one more done. The Pokémon effect so to speak.

@@ChrisPage68 As a vegan i of course prefer mine with margarine even with the butter mountain in place. But then i'm already part of the tofu eating wokerati. Should you wish to become part of that too, you could try tofu without becoming vegan by going to a *good* Chinese restaurant or eat at the home of a Chinese person. There are loads of dishes that have both meat & tofu in them. Or read the Guardian, that also works.

@johnpoile1451 I believe it has something to do with Urban Vernacular, my dear fellow. I did overhear one of the Under-Butlers saying such a thing whilst scolding the Chambermaid for incorrect usage of the internal water delivery system. Maybe a letter to the Times... 🧐

Simple: it's to do with our plumbing, and byelaws around safe drinking water. So, cold water would be from a safe external supplier, but hot water would be from a boiler/storage tank upstairs. This meant hot water was considered standing water, and therefore unsafe to drink. Therefore, having two taps stopped cross-contamination. Even today, our mixer taps don't actually mix the hot and the cold until they exit the tap, because byelaws still exist that prohibit drinking water being mixed with standing water for any length of time.

@@peterclarke7240 Thanks for this detailed explanation. The question that comes to mind is why the rest of Europe does it differently. I mean, I remember the changes in plumbing in the '80s. Plus, two taps are pretty inconvenient and unsustainable, don't you think?

I personally don't, but in my "paper" of choice people are having an aneurysm over cats off leads & what they are doing to wildlife. So you cannot please anyone. I know people that have lost their cats to cars etc. & do go for a walk with them on a lead. I'm not going to tell them to not do that. Live & let live.
