The only time that I watched Let's shows was when his dahlink Eva Gabor was on there. They were joking and laughing and kidding around. He even jokingly mocked her Hungarian accent! They were very close friends long before they started dating. In fact, Eva's relationship with Merv was the longest one that she ever had with a man that she wasn't married to.
I can tell that Eva's relationship with Merv was very serious. They were always smiling, holding hands, and he even had his arm around her. I even have a picture of them kissing each other. I can tell that they were very much in love and they were so happy together.
Although Merv Griffin will always be remembered as a talk show host, game show host, creator, and producer; a band singer, and a hotel and casino owner, I will always remember him for his relationship with Eva Gabor and that's it. Here on my cellphone, I have an album loaded with pictures of both Eva and Merv together out on their dates. They were always smiling, holding hands, and he even had his arm around her. I also have one of them from 1989 kissing each other. I can tell that they were very much in love and that it was a serious relationship. I know they first started dating while his talk show was still on the air. I think they started dating steadily in 1985. Even after his talk show ended in 1986, they were still going out with each other. They went out together for the rest of the 80's and on into the 90's. This may sound crazy, but I look at these pictures while listening to my cassette tapes of these weekend oldies shows that I taped off of the Philadelphia radio stations during the time that they were both dating each other. Just like 30 years ago, looking at the pictures of my two favorite celebrity lovebirds of the 80's and 90's while listening to the music of my 60's childhood just makes me feel good all over. It's my favorite form of entertainment. I also collected pictures of them in the newspapers, magazines, and tabloids from back then as well. I renewed my interest in both Eva's and Merv's relationship three years ago. I was going to Los Angeles for 11 days. Before I left, I once again started listening to some of my cassette tapes from that same period. I took some of them with me to Los Angeles and I listened to them right there in my hotel room. In the spring, I am taking these same tapes with me to Miami, San Francisco, Honolulu, and of course, to Los Angeles. I don't leave Philly without that Philly sound. But anyway, that's how I remember Merv Griffin, and that's how I'll always remember him. And that's it.
@@tbec3011 Nothing like that. Two people who became close friends and enjoyed the company of one another. We should all be so lucky. Both lovely people too. And they shared in common lives of success. But I'm biased. Merv was my favorite of all I knew and worked with.
