Everyone watch 'Death Becomes Her' AND, what wasn't shown here and has been largely forgotten, 'She-Devil'. You'll get not just Streep awesome-ness but Roseanne Barr (I know, I know. If only she'd come back around).
"Meryl Streep could play Batman and be the right choice; she is perfection. Whether she’s divorcing Kramer, whether she’s wearing Prada, don’t even get me started on 'Sophie’s Choice''"
She makes very good choices in what roles to do and what I admire most is that she's not afraid to do a silly movie along with the heavy dramatic ones. Great range. She really is the best actress in the world today. Can't think of one movie of hers I did not like
"Best actress in the world"? Let's not say that unless we have seen most movies from other parts of the world. But yeah, she is among the best in the US.
It can be assumed that he's referring to actors and actresses mainly in Hollywood or at least a part of the big film studios in the industry. There are millions of actors and actresses. Some who've done one film. Some who've done hundreds. Some well known and some you've never heard of. What an obnoxious comment.
Have you seen her resume on awards she has won or been nominated for? It reminds me of the back of a high school annual book that lists all the accomplishments of the last four years. Some kids have one thing to their credit and others go on and on
Always been fascinated by her gift. But when she played an old Jewish rabbi in "Angels in America" & it took me several beats to recognize it was actually Meryl Streep, that was the moment I saw her GREATNESS!
I've been mesmerized by her ever since I was a teenager, watching her in films like The Deer Hunter, Manhattan, The French Lieutenant's Woman, Sophies Choice, etc. I think she is just so talented and beautiful, and still making it happen. I remember, with each film, she even topped the last one, and the last one was great too. And, I had the biggest crush on her. I recall thinking, is she real? She's this off the charts talented and versatile And is this gorgeous!! I'm still bowled over by Meryl. Always shall be. 😍
Gosh! I know she's a beautiful actress. But seeing her here in her "younger" years -- she was flawless!!! It's like she has a perfect face...radiant even!!! Nice compilation showing her natural humor :D
Except Bridges of Madison County. That was unbearable, and excruciating to watch her talent wasted on that dreck. One of the very few movies I've walked out of.
@@plucas9324 And yet it grossed 600 million dollars on a 52 million dollar budget. And the goodwill of that movie was so potent that its sequel, despite greatly decreasing at the box office, still managed to be a summer hit. The original Mamma Mia! was a gigantic crowd pleasing smash that audiences loved; obviously you are in the minority.
There are actually a lot of actors as good as her but she has always been given advantages they haven't and the pick of the parts. She was a white blonde girl from a good background, you do the math.
She is funny as heck, very cool. And smart. She has a master's degree. She had to learn the violin. I would've said NO. Thank you, Eric, for making this. I'm a subscriber now.
She is, and by far, the greatest living film actress in the world, and has been so for a generation. Only a couple of, now long departed, acting legends can possibly compare in terms of talent, screen presence, versatility and body of work (Bette Davis, Katharine Hepburn, Ingrid Bergman, Vivien Leigh).
yes will always b a true screen legend as long as i shall live. bette davis paved the way 4 amazing talented people like meryl. i hope meryl will always b rememberd by her true talent & charisma.
+The Darci 13 She is a wonderful actress, but she quickly sorted out what roles don't suit her voice and range. What you don't see her in are all the traditional theatre roles of the great actors: Shakespeare, Ibsen, Chekhov, O'Neill. She is a very good actor, but not I think one of the greats.
Ruma Pengal Well, firstly, let me say there are many others in the theatre and acting world whose judgement I would look to for assessing greatness; but since you ask me, the actors I've seen on the stage I consider great include Judi Dench, Glenda Jackson and Cate Blanchett.
I adore her. She is so talented. And she is a real actress, meaning she is willing to give herself up and really slip into a role, whether it's an ugly one, or a beautiful one. She is fabulous!!!!
Meryl is NEVER overrated! Never. This woman does everything to the pinnacle of excellence, including cussing like a sailor! I appreciate her so much more, for not being too perfect and having such a delightful way of self deprecation! Beautiful, enchanting, intelligent and hilarious … she is a goddess.
What a delightful compilation! Thanks for putting this together. The interview clips were all new to me and I liked how you combined the interviews with scenes from her movies. She is truly a brilliant actress who can play anyone!
Thank you! I've edited 8 segments about her so far so obviously quite a fan! You'd probably enjoy this other amusing piece I made in her honor: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Q3MU5HwWcPY.html
I just watched it! I love your editing: showing Carrie Fischer talking about Streep's attack of insects in the yard and then going to a documentary where she kills a mosquito was brilliant! And I was fascinated to learn how they made her head go backwards in "Death Becomes Her". Seeing her over the span of her career (so far) reminded me of just how unique she looks in each film. Amazing. To end: thank you!!
Meryl rules! She just is a friggin goddess. The more brilliant performances she adds to her amazing body of work, the more enslaved I am. As a perforning artist myself it is so great to be able to feel such unbridled admiration for a truly wonderful star.
I adore this woman. Meryl makes one feel like you are her good friend. One of my favorite movies of hers is "One True Thing" with Rene Zellewger. Also Marvin's Room. I hope she lives forever and keeps acting. Meryl is a wonderful role model for women.
While I realize I’m replying to a 5 year old post I simply had to share that One True Thing and Marvins Room are my second and third favorite of her films. The “love the things you have “ monologue with Zellweger is very powerful and moves me to tears each time. Number one is Sophies Choice. When Sophie has to make her choice Streep literally rubs your nose in her despair and helplessness. The result is heartbreaking.
When she first came on the scene in movies like The Deerhunter, Kramer vs. Kramer, Silkwood and Sophie’s Choice, I had no idea she could be so funny. I just love every movie she's in.
Meryl Streep is awesome. She can do anything! She is so fearless. My favourite films with her is The Devil Wears Prada, Death Becomes Her, She-devil and Julie & Julia. She only keeps on getting better. :)
This lovely lady is the best. My absolute favorite actress...she aces every role. I would love to meet her. Her latest...Ricki and the Flash...love it. Judy in Baltimore.
I wasn't a Meryl Streep fan. Have never found her completely believeable in any role. But this video encourages me to take a much closer look! Well done.
Kirk Barkley I also meant "she" lol I am a lifetime insomniac and sometimes post while half-asleep lol. I am also losing my vision and can't see the keyboard at night lol.
One of my favorite funny lines she ever delivered was in the movie Heartburn. She's separated from her husband in the film, and she receives flowers. She is so excited because she thinks they're from him. Instead they're from a friend that she lied to about a death in her family to get out of a commitment. Crestfallen, she hilariously delivers the line, "Shit, now I have to send her a thank you note."
I hate actors that are over-exposed, but Meryl? I could watch all day. She is undoubtedly one of the best actors ever. She embodies every character she plays.
