Ok. That's it. Im convinced. A few of the people who exist out there and can play this song front to back need to band together and play this live since Meshuggah won't Would be a show experience for the ages.
@@Sasquatch33 Why does nobody think the psychotically quasar collidingly heavy opening riff of Sum is just as worthy of a mention as Dehumanization. That whole chunk is insane. Personae Non Gratae rules too. But yes agreed.
@@Zyborggian I agree with that aswell. That drop in Personae is one of my favorite Meshuggah riffs of all time. My only problem with Sum is if it were in a live setting, after that awesome opening riff, it's pretty much the same clean riff repeated for 5 minutes.
Finally a cover I’m convinced of, you can actually hear your guitars unique tone. The other covers all you can hear is the backing track and a tone that sounds identical to the backing track.
You're one of very few people on this planet, who knows what it feels like to finally lock in at 10:33 - must've been nice but you definitely earned it too..!
big brained!!!! how can you remember everything in this song when its so random even the guys who created it said they cant play it live becuz its too hard to remember
If you have a little peak at my desk you’ll see a notebook. In case i forget anything, I can look back at the rhythmic structure of any given part (which happens to be a lot of them haha)
Fucking insane. I can play a few parts here and there but there is no way I have the endurance to play for a while, ESPECIALLY the riff at 5:40 and onward til the break. Awesome job, dude. By the way, what tabs did you follow? I am using the Ultimate Guitar pro tab. Also, what string gauge?
Thanks so much!! Honestly I learnt most of it by ear except some parts I used the songsterr tabs. And I use the Ernie ball skinny top heavy bottoms (9-80)
I don't know how you hold your pick like that and don't get carpal tunnel syndrome a minute into the song. It obviously works for you though. You and Marty Friedman. lol
Sick. How did you get better at alternate picking this song with the thick gauges? I’m having a lot of trouble. I probably just need to keep alternate picking sections really slow and then raise my speed up.
If you’re using thick picks that might be part of it. More effort to push a stiffer pick through a string. You can always get slightly lighter strings too. Just make sure they aren’t too thin and sound like garbage at that tuning. Also hydrate. My picking hand cramps up super quick when I’m dehydrated. Hydration is good for you.
@@13_cmi thanks. I use a 1mm tortex and am currently using custom .009 to .70 gauge. I feel like that’s way too light because I am accidentally bending the low F string and it doesn’t sound heavy enough. Do you think both of these combined may also play a factor in having a hard time alternate picking/missing strings?
Thanks so much for the kind words, I used an Ibanez rg8 (yes, with the stock pickups) and an 100 watt peavey vypyr amp, then I just plug that into a mixing desk to eq it
