Jens: What did we do different? Tomas: It's other songs... It's not the same songs, we didn't record the same songs over again, so that's a new thing. They're all like later additions, than the ones that ended up on previous albums, because this is a new one. So that's changed... Even the lyrics are different on this one, they're not the same lyrics even, as on previous albums... they're new ones. Jens: They are!? Tomas: Yeah....

thomaas makes such a good point when talking about the djent scene...even though a lot of bands take influence from meshuggah and may sound similar, meshuggah took influences from other bands and sounds similar to them. it's true of any musical artist.

Sort of had my hopes up for a while there. I thought I had a good question (guitar related), but then it's only Tomas & Jens in the interview, so, no dice.......It said on FB 'have a question for a member of meshuggah?' so I'm willing to bet alot of people like me where hoping to have a guitar or songwriting question answered. Sort of not cool there. But hey, two guys from the band made a long vid, and that's prob more than most of us deserve, so overall, thanks guys. Can't wait for Koloss :)

Saw you guys for the first time in ATL headlining for Animals as Leaders. Never even heard of you guys being a Nashville guy. Awesome performance, even while your singer was sick. I was blown away. @Obedience he definitely said that. Going by their lyrics and artwork psychedelics seem to be a large influence, they even have a song called 'Ayahuasca Experience', so I think they've made it clear enough without addressing it directly. Listening to or seeing Meshuggah under the influence of any entheogen is an unforgettable experience.

They are Existentialists. I'm sure Heidegger and Sartre and Magritte had the very same sarcastic expression! I actually appreciate their discreteness and non-narcissistic behaviour, i find it quite genuine; why should they crave for attention? their enthusiasm is in their music, and that's what matters, at least for me.
