Indeed not easy to pull off those vocals when you get older with the same tone and timbre shows how much control he has amazing he should have a masterclass on how to scream
i really don't understand why everything has to be imitation, at this point don't listen to 90% of death metal, it's an imitation of reign in blood by slayer
Once the absolute fringe of metal, now the primal elder gods of a genre they created. I like that they've stuck to their guns with their sound, not forcibly changing their it as djent mutates around them.
Yeah, they definitely don't change their sound in a profound way, what they do is add elements to it and refashion those elements to fit into their own framework. Like the tremolo picking and note selection in this track sounds kinda black metal-ish to me, but then they reshape it with their signature bends and unconventional patterns so that it just sounds like Meshuggah. They're fucking incredible. The most original and innovative band in metal bar none, imo. Hard to believe these dudes are all in their 50s (apart from Lövgren anyway). Old enough to have grandkids, and they are wiping the floor with bands half their age. Long live Meshuggah.
Well damn. Honestly was expecting them to take it a lil easy, Tomas said that they're old and don't wanna overdo themselves, but... this is definitely not something to take easy! Fucking awesome, really looking for the new album
we have to sacrifice justin bieber, harry styles, billie eilish, ariana grande, lil pump, BTS and machine gun kelly. in order to keep the meshuggah personnel young!!
Imagine being so unrelenting as a band, for 30 years, having seen trends in metal music come, go, come back again, go again, and all the while you're still just putting out smashers one after another. These guys are a genre of their own.
The monotone vox were a deliberate choice they made around Chaosphere era. Jens used to use a wider range but decided that a monotonous bark would suit the music. Essentially his voice is just another rhythm instrument. Plus he now has more time to work on his faces.
at first the monotone vocal really turned me off for actually years, but now I like it. I think the tone actually gets better as he gets older. it's more smooth, has a lower pitch, and more distortion
It's funny that Haake was actually late with joining the band. The band had already written some songs when their drummer quit and Haake stepped in. He said that he at first was very confused with the rhythms they were doing, but he practiced and went on to create even more insane grooves. Amazing drummer.
@@Mr_jz_12 KoRn, Slipknot, Zeal And Ardor, Avenged Sevenfold (Hopefully), Revocation, and definitely all the bands you two have mentioned as well!! Can't wait to see how this year turns out. I've been a metalhead for 12 years.. each year always has special albums from bands that I love.
Cattle Decapitation are starting recording for their new album in April as well. After two years can’t wait to see what they’re gonna give us this year!
First time they’ve tuned the bass an octave below the guitars. Everything released before this had guitars and bass in the same octave. There’s some super gnarly low end in this mix and it sounds absolutely ridiculous (I mean that as a compliment lmao)
@@MarshTheDarsh hell yeah, only taken them nine albums. Might’ve been a shitpost but there’s an image of Dick using a bass with a .320 gauge string (it was definitely 300+) on it, meaning there might be a few songs on this record where “low” is an understatement lmfao
@@Yttiwgnihtemos I have unfortunately never seen them in live, but the concerts I have watched Jens sounds just as good (slightly different, but good) throughout the whole set.
How to dance to Meshuggah videos are probably going to come back lol. Meshuggah is finally back, 2022!! Been listening to them since Rational Gaze.. Koloss is my favorite album, and I can't wait for this album to come out, this one will be great, I just know it.
what more really can we ask for? it’s Mesh, and i feel like they managed to experiment with their sound which seemed impossible. great track super hyped for the record
I have a huge love-hate relationship with the dude. He makes it impossible to headbang because of those polyrhythms and polymeters. But at the same time, the amount I can nerd out about his shit?! MMMMM
You reignited my love for metal! Getting a nice seven string this week to finally play these drop tunings without having to mess with my 6 string FR. Between you and the new Ice Nine Kills album, one of my favorite all times, I can’t wait to get back into shredding. Would love to see you cover any song off the Silver Scream Two, that album is top tier all around. Farewell II Flesh might be my favorite but they’re all amazing front to back. Keep killing it Nik
Meshshuggah bridge section be like: Count this. Nik: 👁️👄👁️🤷 For real though, they created a genre 20 years ago and most modern bands haven't come close. They are absolutely on top of the pyramid.
Absolutely insane brutal at you from the beginning in your face song. For me this is immediately one of my favorites by them along with Future Breed Machine, I Am Colossus, Qualms of Reality, and New Millennium Cyanide Christ.
it took me a couple of listens, but I really liked this track. the ending stretch is just badass. and the sound is great this time! really disliked the mixing on the 2016 album.
What? The mixing was absolutely excellent on the 2016 album. It was one of the best mixed low ends ive ever heard. The guitars especially sounded a lot heavier than they do here, comparing palm mutes is a easy way to tell. No idea what you're hearing...
Twenty or so years ago, I just couldn’t with these guys. Too much. Today. I just can’t stop with these guys. So much going on and it’s exhausting sometimes. Seeing them for the first time in a few weeks. Bucket list 👍🏽
Im not into this band but I really liked the intro in da song. The opera house thingy and that rhythmic layers in this track. I definitely don't know what's going in this track but sounds fun to downloading it. Thanks to nik for showing me. 😆 Gotta discover new bands! 3:30 Wow that Guitarist is bringin aliens to earth man. Also I think we will be getting a cover by tomorrow? Right nik? 😆
I have been bumping this song daily in anticipation for the new album… take it easy on this album they say??? I say the mightiest metal band of all time just making another masterpiece. Can’t wait to hear it!
Gosh darn it, the more I listen to it, the more I love it, as it goes with Meshuggah. I only wish I can get to be at their show one more time with all of this rona bullshit going on. ❤️
I love how the all guys in Meshuggah are old enough to be grandpas, and they're still able to pump out music brutal enough to rival or even surpass that of modern bands.
i actually never heard a band that does that kind of djenty prog on the same level as meshuggah (maybe vildhjarta ok) they're fucking kings of this style
Still brutally kicking ass in their fifties is so bad ass! It is like Obzen and Catch 33 had a child. One of the best bands of all time are back and probably with AOTY...
Solid Jens face in the thumbnail. I've listened to this song about 12 times already but I clicked this video anyway to reward you for upholding the proudest of traditions.
I always wanted to listen to meshuggah but I wanted to hear someone's opinion and when I found this video I finally listened to my first meshuggah song. I like watching nik nocturnal because he is funny and a pretty cool person
