This is another Dual Review with Dave. Check Out his Take on the blue version: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OGBmHN7pTNM.htmlsi=yNDnDoNy3C7-FbqV
If that hour hand extends a little bit into the hour sector area it would be perfect. Just a bump to disturb the sector area to draw attention when reading time. I got the salmon colored one. Love it.
I love this watch. I wish more companies would do more dress / gada / sport style GMT’s. Thanks for the great and honest review. Off to Dave’s Channel. Don’t tell him I watched yours first.
Beautiful watch. I don't have a Vario watch, just their straps which are great. By the time i decided which style on some of their earlier Empire watches they were sold out as you say.
Totally agree with you Dave. No sense in only 50m water resistance, and that hour hand! Geez, I found myself misleading the time in every close-up because your brain just wants to connect the hour hand with the GMT chapter ring. It's hard to believe the designer didn't notice this themselves. I mean all they had to do was show it to a friend to understand that that hour hand wasn't going to work.
That's an absolutely beautiful watch Shane. However, I do feel that a date complication is probably more important for a GMT than for any other watch because as well as crossing time zones, in my case, I'm sometimes crossing the date line and a GMT should make you aware of that fact and a GMT with a date will make you more aware that your entering a different zone. Personally I wouldn't buy a GMT without a date, however if one doesn't travel for work as I do, it's probably not important. I can see why they did it with this design, but it's a functionality that I would look for.
Interesting- the hands are fine for me because I look at the position of the hand (angle). I don’t read what it is pointing at to know what hour or minute it is. Therefore for me, the differentiation in size is more important. Very nice watch.
Great review of a beautiful watch 👍. I did find myself reading the 24 ring when looking at the normal hour hand so you are correct. I have to say it looked great on the straps, but I didn't like it on the bracelet at all.
I think the hour hand is fine. If you make the tip protrude beyond the GMT ring it will be too close in length to the minute hand. Besides, you only need to know the hour to the nearest hour, and the main body of the hand does that. I hope they continue this dial design in white and black versions that aren't a limited run.
I have a couple of Vario watches Dave, including the Reverso & Trench watch. Beautiful watches & well finished. Ivan is great to deal with! I really like this GMT & tend to agree regarding the hour hand. But definitely not a dealbreaker for me!😎👍🏼
I think that is a beautiful watch but I will agree that the hour hand needs to be a little longer with the curve coming up close to the 24 hour markers and the tip extending beyond I am not a fan of the butterfly clasp tho the bracelet looks nice that is personal preference though
I think butterfly clasps should be outlawed. I’ve never had one fit correctly no matter how small the links were. This is a GMT, meant to be worn. And I won’t wear something that doesn’t fit correctly.
Be it 50 or 100 metres of water resistance, it's irrelevant as recreational divers rarely exceed 40 metres, and no diver would wear a watch like that when diving anyway. So, 0 metres of resistance is fine for a dress-type watch.
Not entirely sure what you're talking about. "Drinking Flask" could refer to a few things... None of which I think are overly impressive. Are you referring to my tumbler of ice water that it's my hand from time to time? Or something that's in the watch shots? Like my relative time blue mug or steel tumbler?
I have a Versa and a D12 (well, I gave the D12 to my nephew as I found it too small for me. I'm not too infatuated with this one... The hour hand looks like a SIM tray ejector tool to me 🤔 and once that thought popped in my mind, I could not unsee that 🫣
Great review Shane. I love art deco styled watches and this GMT is another hit from Vario. Their early 20th century styling is spot on. If you’d like to do a collaborative review, let me know. Tim Johnson @realidealgear
