This song was written [68] years ago for a [1955] prison film titled, "Unchained." The music was composed by multi-Academy Award winning composer Alex North with Lyrics by Hy Zaret. Ten years later in [1965] on the 'Andy Williams Show.' Bobby Hatfield in front of a [live] television audience along with the great performance by the Andy Williams Orchestra. Delivered what many in the music industry considered as the greatest live performance in television history. The Orchestra's String Section was on point with the great vocal talent of the late great Bobby Hatfield. Cannot believe this was on live television [58] years ago. Brilliant!

Fun Fact about Bobby. He was a sports hero in school, and when he was in college he was being scouted for pro baseball, but he chose his music. His nickname was The Blond Bomber. Bobby was unique, one of a kind, a gorgeous man with a beautiful soul, and a voice from heaven. His solos, and there are many, are a win-win, never a waste of time to listen to him. He and Bill were a great team and made incredible music together, but for me, Bobby was the voice that made the Righteous Brothers. Listen to some of his other solo ballads, his songs are addictive, mesmerizing, magic. Was, is, and will always be my favorite singer.

One of the greatest performances of ALL TIME. This song came on the radio and stayed a huge hit, for years,. It also became one of the major songs of the Viet Nam era. Soldiers far from home..will she wait? Many did. This became a WEDDING SONG for many..he made it back and she was waiting! When Bobby sang this live, he was 25, and his mother was in the audience. It's really fun to see a new generation experience this voice, this song, this performance. Thank you for sharing!

No auto-tunes. Just a 25 year old young man with a microphone and God given talent. Bobby passed away in 2003. Bill Medley is still performing. The Righteous Brothers were referred to as blue-eyed soul. You need to listen to him sing Ebb Tide and The Brothers sing You've Lost That Loving Feeling and Soul and Inspiration. Many artists recorded this song but nobody can do it like Bobby.

“The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duet Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on an 73 key piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary. “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin’’ was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century "Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965 Andy Williams Show (with his mother sitting right behind him) Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby’s use of “Runs” is masterful. He created the style and set the table that all others have fed off of for decades. 7 notes just to say the word “I” is melodic brilliance. Their name came from doing a show near a marine base in So Calif and a black marine said to them…. You two guys are Righteous Brothers. In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin Feeling" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......

Totally better, Because it has that extra group of notes at the end. The Recording itself is also a masterpiece. Just perfection in beauty, range, breath control depth of emotion imparted. It was like he was making love to the whole audience. On the CD with that 1967 tour he also streams unchain melody with those extra notes at the end and it’s wonderful because I can hear it every day. This is a Bobby Hatfield’s song And always will be. He will never be forgotten. Rest in peace Bobby.

I was 23 when Bobby sang this live for a Valentine’s Day special. He stood and delivered. No gimmicks, auto tune, smoke machines, half naked dancers, crass lyrics. Just stood and sang his heart out. I can tell you every woman watching fell in love with Bobby Hatfield that night because we felt as if he was singing just to us. I am now 80 and I hunger for a return of this type of sincere, gentle, heart-melting music. 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

This is another one that you need to listen to Home Free's version. I actually think that their version is better than Percy Sledge or Michael Bolton's version. This is easily one of THE greatest live performances (by any artist) of all time. ABBA (live at Wembley 1979) singing “The Way Old Friends Do” is another outstanding live performance. As is Procol Harum (live in Denmark) singing “A Whiter Shade Of Pale”. Great reaction guys. ✌️ EDIT: I almost forgot The Bee Gees (live on the Ed Sullivan Show) circa 1969, singing “Words”. It’s probably second only to Unchained Melody.
