@@rodmunch9141 That is totally true and also kinda obvious... I can see nothing wrong with making mistakes, as long as we learn from them. What? The thing i don´t understand is that you took the time to write that, but didn´t take the three seconds to correct your mistake. Confusing, to be honest.
Whether it is the raspy sound of a Merlin, the distinctive sound of a big radial, or the silky whine of the DB, I love to hear them all. Major thanks to all of those who keep them flying.

To anyone thinking about making an airplane video, please use this as a template. No voice overs or music. Gets right to the point of the video. Plenty of blue in the sky, not overcast. Close images of low flight. And LOUD sounds of the bird. This one gets 5 out of 5 stars.
Nah, I've gotta admit that even being the biggest Spit fanboy on earth I'd still take this ugly beast over a Spitfire for shear historical clout. It's an astonishing bird!
Emperor Sudo The canopy is brutally ugly. Really bad. It makes no sense. They kept that break frame mess throughout the war. Looks like Buba made it in his tin shed. No, it looks like Buba’s tin shed.
@@RAF71chingachgook But it was for pilot protection and survivability. Durability especially. If you shoot a bubble canopy, half the dome shatters and it has a larger profile. I wouldn't want a shell going off right by my face with nothing to stop it before it hits the front of the cockpit and damages instruments if not turning the pilot into tomato paste. Not to mention disruption of aerodynamics and the freezing temperatures.
@@RAF71chingachgook If a round of any sort, explosive or not hits a 109 canopy, which is quite a task within itself, there is steel and whole blocks of bulletproof glass to eat them up and protect the cockpit. And if regular glass gets shot somewhere in a 109, only a small portion of the small portion of canopy glass will shatter
@@jazzyb4656 Besides the 109 can initiate or even break a fight has in addition the 109 can perform G negative compare to the spitfire which allows the 109 to flee or even to take advantage on the spitfire
During engine start, what I assume to be father and son is a priceless moment. The boy's eyes never break from the formidable craft. This moment will leave a lifelong impression on the boy thanks to a father that knows what a little man needs to see! Bravo!
Amen to that! Me in the 1st grade...my best pal's dad was a US Navy fighter pilot back from Viet Nam in home port Va. Beach, VA USA...took all we little boys and girls to his carrier to see and sit in the cockpit of his F8 Crusader...it was a class field trip... circa 1968...a day I could never forget! Now am a retired AMT/A&P mech...FINALLY got MY wings in 2016! :-)
What a genius Willy Messerschmitt was...! These 109s are some 90 years old, yet they look so awesome, impressive and fearsome,,,not to mention the sound of those DB engines ! I watched this G-14 taxi down the landing strip at the end with my mouth half-opened in awe....what a beautiful bird !
@@johnholt9399 the Spit is smexy but imo the P-51 and 109 take the cake. I love the blocky look of the older 109 canopies. And the early Mustangs without the teardrop canopy got curves in all the right places.
The Battle of Arnhem has some first hand accounts of 109's strafing soldiers on the ground and how even one crashed into a church steeple when distracted.
Dmitry Dolgikh the leadership of Nazi Germany are the nazis, not the (most)designers and the soldiers. you should treat the soldiers of all sides the war with respect they deserve because they died for their families not because of the corrupt leadership. So don’t mix it up.
@@dmitrydolgikh8854 I respect the engineering and pilots that went into these planes, not the regime they were used for. Stalin was no better than Hitler but people respect what came from Russia during his time so why is it so bad for anyone to respect a plane that is known as one of the best of the time period?
@@dmitrydolgikh8854 Who are you to judge them all as murderers? Forgive me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty damn sure the U.S has killed countless civilians by bombing in WWII. There's been other times that U.S forces have targeted civilians too, try looking up My Lai for example where they murdered the people they were fighting for. No one is innocent in war, If you truly believe that there is only ever a good side and a bad side in war you're delusional...
@Albert Rieder "And hit The Merkel Plane" This is supposed to be scary. Dont make me dream. I think it would be poetic justice to see her plane gunnd down by a Fokker Dr.1. Pre-Nazi Germany
@@Psychedelic_TimeTraveller86 I don´t think that someone seriously thinks about doing this - it would force a huge amount of stress on the ancient and rare structure of this Plane.
@@bertsmith7013 I admire B17s even though they bombed my country down to the dirt back then. I think you can still appreciate machines of war while being from the opposing country.
I can't even begin to imagine how horrifying it must've been to see such beasts come roaring and screaming towards you in WW2, whether as a civilian or a soldier. I get chills and forget to breathe in pure awe just by watching warplane videos with the volume cranked up, 78 years later, from the comfort of my home. Thank you for not including any talking and keeping the action up. Listening to 2:50 onwards is both amazing and scary as hell at the same time.
My absolute favorite warbird from WW2. Used to be Spits but the beauty and the sound, the howl of the awesome Daimler- Benz V12 just is music to my ears. Wish I could have flown one. A true work of art and the hot rod of WW2 warbirds. Thanks for posting this video, Paddy. And thank you too all of the crew that keep Black 2 flying and in such awesome, beautiful shape. What a beauty! I absolutely love the Bf-109. From the "Emil" model to the "Gustav". Pure beauty. I love that DB-601.
I love the sound of that Daimler Benz engine, especially after the plane passes and Doppler effect slows the sound to where you can distinguish individual cylinders firing.
@@dmitrydolgikh8854 I lost a German great grandad & an English one, am I meant to cry about that? Is this the loss Olympics? You're winning, man I'll gracefully bow out.
Dmitry Dolgikh lol, imagine losing your monarchy and nation to bolshevik foreskin merchants, and then defending them. The russian revolution wasnt “russian” my naive friend. You were used by international finance, your greed and envy exploited by a fake dream of a utopia. Dumbass
Yes, amazing looking and sounding aircraft. I remember building a large Airfix example a very long time ago and the yellow engine cowling looked amazing. It had a 'working' prop from a double A battery which was a cool feature back in the day. It must have been frightening to be under attack from 20mm ordinance streaming from the mighty Messerschmitt
@@thatoneguy7451 iirc there are about 40 109's left in existance, and a fair few are still in flying condition. Other planes such as the Bf 110 and Me 410 models werent so lucky. Both of them only have 2 planes left, 3 of them are musuem exhibits and 1 Bf 110 is being frankensteined from 2 different models
Я спустя год восхищаюсь этим видео! Думал, что новое будет?! Но, какое оно красивое, полёт немецкого самолёта BF - 109 и ещё в наушниках! А посадка достойна уважения красивого звука двигателя!
Refreshing to see and hear the music of a 109 still flying with the power of a Daimler Benz engine. A retied predator that still looks and sounds the part. Great video!
Beautiful video, one of the best quality recordings of a DB605 engine in flight on YT~ And I love how the engine has a deep harmonic which comes in as the exhaust passes the viewer - for example at 2:18, 3:03 etc... along with the characteristic supercharger whine. I like that this is a late model Bf 109, with the Erla Haube canopy and cleaner engine cowl without the G6 bumps. Now if only there are K-4s flying...
Fantastic, such a beautiful sound. what a magnificent piece of engineering! Thanks for sharing! I have made a model of this particular aircraft so it is great to see and hear the bird fly so to speak!
spoke to Luftwaffe ace Heinz Knoke in Feb. 1993 , and he said his favorite was the 'G' model (Gustav) that he would elude Spitfires by corkscrewing straight up into the air after dispatching a less-skilled flyer 'cause the Supermarines did not have fuel injection and would stall out on pursuit !!! ... true story
Many british pilots lost their lives to being suckered into inverted maneuvers also' the spit would cough a few times and die and the FI 109 would whip around and blow the helpless british plane from the sky.
GÄNSEHAUT !!! Was für ein SOUND, WAHNSINN. Und das Flugbild ist einfach SUPER !!! Und dann noch ohne Musik und Gequatsche, einfach perfekt 👍😃 Danke an den Kameramann !!!
