Sam and Tom pull out the distinctions being made in episode 4 of season 2 of The Chosen, from the diversity of the Jewish people, to the differences between the written law and the oral law. They join Jesus and his disciples in their tabernacle and discuss how we unify as God’s family.

Doesn't matter what day it is, Jesus is there for me. 24/7 365. What you brought out is that Jesus didn't touch the man at the pool. Jesus doesn't have to knock on your door.. He's there to knock on your heart that you really don't see... Very beautiful!

A a fairly new Messianic follower of Yeshua, I have begun to keep the feasts and Shabbat. I love how you have both bring out so many of the things I am learning. I often get hit square in the face with things like being seated with our "enemies" and what it means to have a heart change in that area. It is all fine and good in the abstract. However, living that out if something else again. Yes, something has to change...i.e. our heart of stone has to be made into a heart of flesh. Thank you both for your commentary. It truly enriches The Chosen for me.

This was lovely! I loved the dialogue between Jesus and the man at the pool. It felt very personal to me. All I that need IS Him and in Him, not anything or anyone else, to trust that He IS with me in and through everything. My help comes from Him. What a beautiful reminder :). Thank you for sharing this reaction video with us. I really needed it. God bless you, your families and this ministry. Warmest regards from Botswana Louise

Always love your observations on The Chosen! I've watched a number of people reviewing this episode and scene and no one seems to comment on a powerful display of affection at 10:04 where Jesus takes hold of Jesse's filthy head and places a soft, caring kiss and hand upon his cheek before leaving. He loves and redeems us despite the stench and filth that life has placed upon us.

Thank you for sharing this discussion. Two things that came to my mind was when you discussing pieces of this episode: One of those was when you brought up the fact that there are many different kinds of people, even within a culture, especially in regards to other places like Russia and Ethiopia. When you mentioned this, it made total sense! Since about 10 out of the 12 tribes were scattered, it makes sense that there would be a variety of people hailing from the Jerusalem area. This also helps fulfill the promise and Covenant of Abraham when God promises that, "All the Nations shall be blessed." Another thought I had was when you bought up the subject of knowing the difference between the oral laws and the Law of Moses. Like you mentioned, Christ is continually preparing us to be ready for His Kingdom and Eternal Life with Him and God the Father, with the help of the Holy Ghost. As a Gentile, I want to be worthy to sit down with the other Saints who choose to be with God.

Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the evil in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans . The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us into His image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. We cannot purify ourselves, but Christ lived that perfect sinless, pure life and then allotted it to our "account". That's where our righteousness comes from. Not from any good, works that you or I could do. It is not based on the amount of good works we do. God starts the changes, He carries it on, and He completes it in those who let Him. It's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him, again, through His power and instruction). He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if YOU had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, forgiveness, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through His power and abiding (staying) with Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and let Him lead in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way. NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER If you have any questions let me know xx I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] John 16:33 - Amplified Bible

I would like to make a distinction between God sanctifying and making holy the seventh day of the week. The fact that it was convenient for the world to change that day to Sunday does not not sit right with me. I get that sabbath was made for man as a day to rest, to do no work, and to ultimately rest in Jesus as the one who did all for us. Why do we say it is Ok to change this day to Sunday? It would be like man saying it is no longer important to celebrate Passover in Nisan, we can celebrate it in Tishri instead. Does time not matter to anyone? Does Gos not have a purpose for the times he set aside for us to observe? I’m just picking y’all’s brain here. I regularly try to find sabbath rest weekly, to understand its true meaning and you guys did a great job with the video.
@Grafted
@Grafted 2 года назад
We are not saying that GOD changed the seventh day Sabbath to Sunday. We are saying that the essence of the Sabbath is about having a relationship with GOD. GOD rested on the Sabbath to enjoy His creation (He wasn’t tired)-of which humanity was the pinnacle. While Adam and Noah are shown to have a relationship with GOD, there is actually no mention of seventh day Sabbath observance by humanity until the Jewish people come out of Egypt. Biblical history showed us that humanity did not want a relationship with the Creator-GOD (think flood, tower of Babel, etc.). Then GOD chose covenantally chose Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and the children of Israel as a sign people to show the nations that the Creator-GOD wants a relationship with them. The difference between Israel and the pagan nations was that the Creator-GOD's presence was with Israel (Tabernacle/Temple). But, GOD the Father wanted a family from every tribe, tongue, people, and nation-not only Israel and the Jewish people. He wanted and still wants a big, diverse family. GOD demonstrated this covenantally by changing Abram's name to Abraham-father of many nations. The seventh day Sabbath remains as a commandment for Israel and the Jewish people because of their unique covenantal calling as this sign people (the sign of the Mosaic covenant is the Sabbath-Exod 31:12-18). What many people don’t realize is that the commandment to observe and remember the seventh day Sabbath is covenantally given to Israel and the Jewish people. Gentile Christians (Messianic Gentiles) are never covenantally commanded to observe the seventh day Sabbath to become children of Abraham by faith. The New Testament demonstrates throughout that the distinctions of Jew and Gentile remain in Messiah. The Jerusalem council makes this clear in Acts 15. Paul also speaks of these distinctions throughout his letters as he continues to address Jews and Gentiles. He even has a governing “rule in all the churches” of Jewish and/or Gentile people remaining whatever GOD created them to be (1 Cor 7). Therefore, the Messianic Jews are still commanded to observe the seventh-day Sabbath, but in relationship with and guidance of the Master of the Sabbath, Yeshua and His New Covenant order. Ultimately, for Jews and Gentiles, the goal is not Sabbath observance but relationship with GOD (Romans 10:4). GOD is very gracious and seventh day Sabbath observance for Gentiles would have been nearly impossible throughout most of human history. I have no doubt that today some people observe the seventh day Sabbath but do not even have a relationship with GOD. Having said all of that, I help lead a Messianic congregation of Jews and Gentiles and therefore, we observe the seventh day Sabbath because we are a community committed to helping Jewish people maintain their GOD-given identity and calling. The Messianic Gentiles in the congregation (like myself) choose to observe the seventh day Sabbath as part of their membership or communal identity in the community. The Gentile Christian church - despite their sins - has been blessed by GOD for prioritizing a relationship with Him on Sunday-a day to rest and worship Him. Even modern history has demonstrated that GOD blesses Gentile Christians for Sunday observance (Chick-Fila is a good example). The reason for this is that the Sabbath is ultimately about relationship between the Creator-GOD and His creation. Having a knowing relationship with GOD is a weightier matter of the law and the goal from the beginning.

I do not agree that it's "okay" to keep the Sabbath on Sunday. Scripture is clear, Sabbath is the last day of the week, not the first. We are to keep the Biblical Sabbath.

It is a very interesting topic. So interesting, I wrote my doctoral dissertation about it. Here is more of our perspective. We are not saying that GOD changed the seventh day Sabbath to Sunday. GOD rested on the Sabbath to enjoy His creation (He wasn’t tired)-of which humanity was the pinnacle.
