As someone who has both quests since the beginning but haven't built much of a library I like it. I used htc's subscription service for a while and enjoyed it. Will definitely sign up for this.
@@mr.grumps3544 F*ck that. I only bought the Quest 2 in May & Quest 3 has nothing going for it at the minute, if it ever does it will be a LONG time from now.
@@Stuart267You sure about that? I have the quest 3 and used to have the quest 2 before selling it, and it's better in every way. It also automatically raises the resolution of every game in the store regardless whether or not the devs update their game for the quest 3. And to build on my last sentence, many devs are updating their games with improved graphics to take advantage of the new chip. And to build on that even more, the games I've played that were updated, look amazing. The lenses on the quest 3 are a vast improvement over the quest 2 and the eye fatigue is way less with the higher resolution. Lower resolution will cause more eye fatigue
Just picked up a Quest 3 -- got 6 months of Quest+ free as well as free Asgard's Wrath 2 pre-order. I'm more stoked about AW2 since I got a decent library already.
The problem with this is if meta pick the 2 games we won't know if the yearly package is worth it. It's fine if meta add great games....but most who have vr or this subscription likely buy "great games" when they launch. So what's the point offering saints and sinners, beat saber etc etc if we own them. Definitely going monthly but that is problematic if a bad few months and can't play the good ones we redeemed Like you say a pool of games....like 4 or 5 games a month and we pick 2 is way better long term and for yearly subscriptions
Many people prefer to download free games instead of buying them, especially non-experienced users. However, this service offers significant discounts on games and allows users to try out games they may not have otherwise seen. As the service evolves, more perks will be added for both new and experienced users.
This is a way for a studio to bail out sales numbers, bring life to older titles, and market for indie ones. Gamepass would suck without day 1 games and those are almost always first party titles. Meta barely has any of those in general nevermind developing new "bangers". This is a $400+ Billion dollar industry that is almost solely driven by ROI and the only people considered are stakeholders.
I really like owning my games. I think that's my only hesitation in going full blown monthly subs for gaming. ESPECIALLY with VR because I like to make sure what I'm investing in is worth it and I'd like to be able to play it whenever even if I'm broke.
I had this exact mindset for my entire life, but it began to drop when I got into my early 20s (29 now) and realized I had this enormous collection of physical+digital games across console/PC and... I could count the number of games I played more than once on just one hand. Short of a true apocalypse that results in all new media coming to an end, I now feel like I will forever be too busy with new content to ever go back and replay something I've already experienced - perhaps with the exception of a really good remaster or remake of a game I haven't played in at least a full decade. Many of my favorite games of the 7th gen consoles were during my renting phase (blockbuster gamepass!) and as a result don't own a personal copy of them - yet I honestly don't regret it one bit looking back now. The best games that gen were eventually remastered, remade, or at a minimum re-released in a backwards compatible fashion. Still love the idea and vibe of "must own everything" but in reality it was just costing me far more money with virtually no real world advantage.
$90 a year in Aus and the first two games come to a value of $75ish which honestly already looks like it will be good value, I got it, I would never of bought pixel ripped and I love it, I’m excited to see what else I can play which I never would think to buy, also I just see this as investing into vr, bringing more money to the platform for older titles and more money to make it more profitable for more companies to develop games
I really like this idea! When I owned a ps4 the plus subscription really helped build my library and enabled me to try a bunch of games I otherwise wouldn’t have parted with my money for. That said I also already own 3 of the first 4 games and mother gunship forge never really peaked my interest. I will definitely be holding off to see what games August brings
I hear what Meta Quest+ is, but why couldn't they do it in a way that you can pick the two games, like for instance you can choose one game that is priced $10 or less and one game that is $20 and over type of thing. That way, you can pick games or apps you don't have. At least they keep you honest that way. I don't see the sense in this as it's being described unless you are a new Quest owner. Even then, it just feels too limiting. Still love the content Matt, thanks for letting me know about this. Maybe they can add different tiers at some point, and one tier of pricing could let me choose the games. Thanks again.
7:14 i have to disagree here i don't want any exclusive dlc or similar to that because i think that will hurt more then help but still the idea that you can't choose which game not so great but we'll see
THIS SOUNDS perfect for me at least for august as someone who only own one game on quest 2 and has bought mostly steam vr games this is a good option to build library especially with the speed increase which was immediately noticeable in the home.
I just got my quest 2 last week. I've purchased two games so far Pistol whip and walkabout mini golf. So I don't think I'll be subscribing to this service for awhile
Saw commercial for this subscription service just today, so this video was timely for me. Not sold on it, but not ruling it out once I know I don't already own the monthly game offering.
Great starter kit for people coming in not sure what they want and what they might like . Huge issue to retention is buying games they don’t like and cannot find a version of VR they like . Reviews stupid hard
You are so much better at presenting information . This comes across well to get people to agree it for starter kit purpose ….. I am a bit more blunt in my approach to presenting information and working on .. softening approach . Watching you helpful honestly lol my patience level very low
Just like you predicted, I got 6 months included with the quest 3. And I don't like it. I already didn't like psplus. VR games in general are cheaper than playstation games. Not that sony is gracious enough to give AAA games on psplus regularly, but the possibility was there. With quest+ you're getting a game that's $20-$40 value at most. The best case scenario would have been like the humble choice bundles. A large selection and you get to keep the games even if you unsubscribe. But it wouldn't make meta as much money.
I'm interested. I don't have a ton of titles that I play on my quest. I use it mainly for PCVR. For the money, it might get me to use the headset natively more frequently but I would love to see META treat your license to the game the same on either platform Quest native or PCVR.
xbox live did it right where you got 2 free games and got to keep them...personally I don't think I'll be getting the subscription because if I really want a game I'll just buy it but paying to escentially "borrow" random games and being allowed to use them as long as you keep paying doesn't sound all too intriguing to me
I don’t know from the way you say it is it’s not like some games are free with the meta quest plus and not free with out it it’s like they give you the games for a month and then they just take it away I’m I correct
I can't for the life of me see who would want this, but I guess I can get it from the other comments. Subscribe for a curated selection of games that others have chosen. Sure you get a larger and larger game selection "available to you", but it also locks you more and more into the subscription. Oh well as long as I don't have to pay to play multiplayer, then be my guest.
It should have a large pool of games to start if they are going to go away once you stop paying for the subscription. I have too many games already, and I can play them right now without hoping I get the game I want some time this year. This just won't help us save money if we end up not having the games we want. I would not suggest this subscription to anyone.
I hopped on the train with the original Quest and already own all the critically acclaimed games, I'm not paying $89.95 AUD a year for a drip feed of the left overs and the chance that I don't already own the monthly games which is the case with the first two months of the service already.
Do I have to pay $50 per month to register? The subscription price is fine, but that other fee is too high. I just bought this for my grandson. I don't want to disappoint him, but $50 a month is too much.
i was hoping it was like geforce now to be able to stream it from another computer and not need to install the games id pay more for that type of service but not sure how well it would be to cloud stream VR really think cloud gaming is the way to go with wireless VR if its possible now because it offloads the hardware usage so it gives more battery run time and hard drive space of course
And with the entry of Meta Quest + I think meta is doing a smart thing and they are gonna keep Supporting the Quest 2 probably when the Quest 3 starts to drop in price in the future
I didn't realize game fly was still around! I also just found out about meta plus I haven't been able to game as much as I wanted and plan on picking up a quest3 so this is perfect I'll probably subscribe since I've been wanting to add walkabout
I like that you don't get to choose the games. It gives you a surprise to look forward to. It reminds me of when you "got what you got" with entertainment. When you didn't have it all at the tips of your fingers it was so exciting for your favorite show to come on. I'm excited :)
So here's my personal opinion l it does feel like a bit of a lackluster but understandable since to justify at least the cause and really you're here for games and that's it
How does App Sharing work? At the moment, most of the games I purchase are shared with my Daughter. Is App Sharing also extended to these Subscription Games?
walkabout has a ton of DLC now. how will they handle that for plus subscribers, since you lose the game if you opt out. i think it's simpler to exclude DLC, but then that devalues the game. i think this quest plus thing feels more like a "trial" initiative than a long term rental.
I don’t think the Quest 2 will end support in the future with the ongoing updates happening for the Quest 2 i suggest that the headset won’t loose support
I dont have the first 4 so I'm thinking of getting the yearly subscription so that when I get a quest 3 I'll have games to play. I had the quest 2, but I returned it after 2 weeks so I could get a ps5
@BMFVR think I may have typed is commented tis before...but I just want to let you know I really appreciate th Bible verses on to your videos. God bless all.
does this work if you have two oculus's and one is for me and it's seprate accounts and it's in a sharing game family can they play those games too? hopefully that made sense
I need more storage space I wish I hadn't bought a 64gb meta quest. It would be better if it was a streaming game service and the ability to save progress on the cloud and the ability to resume progress even if you delete the game and come back later
How does it work when I subscribe e.g. 31.1.2024? Will my subscription only for January 2024 so I would still be able to claim the 2 games from this month, but on February 1st I won't be able to play them unless I subscribe for next month? Or will the subscription last til end of February and I'll be able to claim 2 games announced on January 1st and 2 more on February 1st?, but play them only til end of February (unless I let it renew subscription for another month)?
To be fair… I’m normally the person who wants to own my games. But considering Meta can just take any bought game off of your device at any time, and has done so, means you DONT own any games from Meta regardless of how you pay for them. This seems to make more sense in that way.
👍Metflix is cheaper than Netflix... But the question is WHICH GAMES I get. Our group has always like Viveport as the best VR subscription option. Gives you like 95% of the games from day 1. And we had FREE 3 MONTH trial links too. So..... Metaflix is maybe more of a Meta-Meh
This is great if you're a new user , even if the games are locked in the premium account (like ps+) it's still a steal. But for someone who has an old Oculus account like me it isn't really advantageous. I have mostly every "big" game already and The store library is still quite weak so by subscribing, I'll only get the "cheap" games I didn't want to play anyways 🤷♂️ plus I rarely buy new games now, like 2 a year
And I don’t think the Quest 2 will end support anytime soon or possibly in the future because they already made the headset cheaper and with more ongoing updates I don’t see this headset ending support in the future
After getting the quest 3, I couldn't imagine going back to quest 2. It's an upgrade in every way. People should sell their quest 2 and save the rest up for the 3. It really is that much of an improvement. I can only imagine what the quest 4 will bring, but that will be at least 3-4 years away. This one is good enough to where they won't need to release a new one for a while
Honestly, it's not worth it. Quest already has an option that you can buy a game and refund it if you played less than 2 hours of it with a 14 days period.
I agree. We would be getting 2 mediocre games per month, they won't cannibalize the sales of their best games by including them in the subscription. We could be getting one good game every 3-6 months and the rest will be filler content basically. Content that we would refund if bought manually anyway.
It’s kinda cool, but not for me as i have a good size library and half the games they announced. If they let you pick 2 from the entire library (including new releases) I’d pay $20 a month.
