Metabarcoding is a technique used to identify organisms within the same species, class or family using DNA. In this video, we look at the equipment used in this process with the help of SAIAB’s Instrument Scientist, Dr Gwyneth Matcher.
We follow Dr Matcher as she hosted a Metabarcode NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) training workshop. Through the virtual sessions, the training covered principles behind NGS sample preparation and sequencing chemistries.
The participants received hands-on practical training on how to generate metabarcode libraries. Computational data analysis of the resultant sequence data was conducted virtually with participants analysing the libraries they generated in the laboratory.
