*Love this **MyBest.Tools** have the original dremel oscillating tool but it's corded which is fine in many instances but this is so versatile. Must have for any tool monger like me.*

I think I’m with you Rodger regarding the little red locking cap, I would definitely lose it. Let’s hope every tool manufacturers jump on the CAS battery platform

Hi Roger not sure I would like to mess around with that bit in the middle to much, might be lost or some thing that just becomes worn quickly, but like the slim grip less strain on the hand. well explained , good video as always, thanks.

Found a 20+ year old Metabo corded drill I thought I'd lost. Works great. Gave to daughter. Someone has said Erbauer is all you need - mine have all gone back dangerously faulty or just horrible in the hand. My corded DeWalt multi-tool is brilliant - power for long heavy grinding and cutting, very precise control for detailed work like hinge housing when no other tools because wasn't expecting to cut them. But I no longer work where I need battery.

Had earlier brushed version, sent in for repair 4 times. Chucked it away and bought fein supercut 18v, which I should have done in the 1st place.
@ron1martens

I had the earlier version. Not sore if it was brushed or not before I got cleaned up. All my tools were stolen. I used the multi tool heaps of times and never any issue. I bought the fein 14 volt which the machine actually packed it in. Shame I have the charger and batteries away. I have the Bosch 12 volt multi tool with 1.5 amp hour batteries. The machine is good although the run time is very short. The reason I then bought fein and later the metabo multi tool. Having my tools stolen meant I was on the market to repurchase. Which was not a bad thing as upgrade and technology has seen wonderful advances in higher amperage batteries. I had the festool cordless plunge saw. I'm considering the new metabo cordless plunge saw as I belief the tracked run on both mafel and festool rails. I don't think it has a rifing knife though. This multi tool looks good. I have since purchased metabo 8 amp hour batteries and a metabo drill with 400 bl I think impact wrench. I don't often use the wrench. Too noisy although good for scaffold erection and taking car tyres or driving bigger bolts. It has a dial 1 to 12 to take off car tyres 5 is powerful enough.

Yeah mine been in twice. First time they replaced it because the machines vibrations destroyed itself and now the switch is gone on the newer machine and I am being charged. Went to buy a starlock version while it was being repaired but didn't because one blade cost 16 euro. Love the machine but hate this Starlock.
@cyberdogg5

The Metabo has a magnet in the blade holder which is not shown here but is on the Metabo video. Don’t think the blade change is as bad as some other that use the pin system.

That battery being wonky would drive me nuts ... Only real perk I noticed is that it has a light, my brushless Makita is grand (if you don't mind some slightly heavy vibration on your hands) but there's no integral light. Working in a dark corner the other day I was having to hold my phone torch in one hand, tool in the other 😅 small things like that on a regular basis really get to ye!

I used to own some Metabo mains powered tools years ago and they were good pieces of kit. 1&1/2 years ago i deceided to go all battery with Metabo & the CAS battery system. In short the quality isn't there any more . The old model multi tool MT18 LTX is now on its last legs. The impact driver SSD18 LTX has just been changed under warranty (that took a month). The batteries seem to be holding up well. I would not recomend the tools.

Its a shame but it isnt the new starlock, its like the old starlock with the pins. That’ll put most people off straight away, no quick snap in and click out.
@cyberdogg5
@cyberdogg5 3 года назад
Roger explains that the quick system is patent protected by Bosch and Fein. However I’ve seen the tat the Metabo has a magnet to hold the blade while you put in the pin. Nice feature.
@juyhfrty
@juyhfrty 3 года назад
@@cyberdogg5 I saw the reason why but it doesn’t alter my comment. Its a backward step when the others have moved forwards. I recently bought the corded fein with starlock plus, its fantastic changing blades and noticeably better than the faffy pin set up (which is also streets ahead of the older alan key set up).
@paulstevenson8979
@paulstevenson8979 3 года назад
The reason for starlock is to enable 100% power transfer as OIS cheaper blades from China use to excessively vibrate and break
@SkillBuilder
@SkillBuilder 3 года назад
Paul The Starlock system has better power transfer but it is still about stopping you overloading the tool. A longer blade has a wider arc and that puts a lot of strain on the tool.
@paulstevenson8979
@paulstevenson8979 3 года назад
@@SkillBuilder yes that’s what I was saying as it enables 100% power transfer, star lock max are the longer blades with the wider oscillation hence as I said the reason for star lock being designed

Festool Vecturos have always been re-skinned Fein Supercuts. The current cordless Vecturos are most definitely Starlock Max. I don’t know why Metabo is slapping Starlock language on it’s multi-tool other than signifying compatibility. That’s pretty lame.

Is it me !! Or I’m i the only tradesman that feels like fish bait , for extra this , extra that, more power, bigger battery power, lasts longer and how much does milwalkmydog charge for a service ? Ill bet its More then a cheaper one that runs for two years and is more then £100 lower then a branded one. Ive been using a non branded item for two years now, batteries last all day ( and that’s trade use ) I’m not knocking at the big boys but step back and look at the iPhone stile of marketing targeted at you all 🤔 Can you all afford to keep paying out for this stuff ? And it keeps getting taken from your vans !! Let’s start thinking out of the box

No it's not only you. Take Erbauer, a dirty word for many. I have their 1st generation impact driver which i brought i think in 2007. That thing still works hard 5 days a week and still the batteries hold full power, hammer action is still spot on. It looks like it's been through 2 world wars but is an excellent piece of kit.

Fein is best.and the starlock system. Isn't as good as the pin system from fein. It's common sense. U wouldn't have vehicles wheel nuts held. With a clip holding on to the blade. Only reason is fein had to start using the starlock system. Because there patten. Was void. Ran out a fews years ago

Starlock is a crock of sht, tools and blades are ridiculously expensive, the OIS system works perfectly and the blades are cheap and plentiful. I won't be upgrading my OIS tool anytime soon if ever, noticed similar sentiment on Amazon reviews for starlock machines, people regretting getting them due to now needing starlock blades and tools.
