Tbh I feel like the reaction 99% of people have when they hear about a good player is to think "Okay, maybe they're good, but I bet I am/the people I know are better". No one defaults to assuming "I bet they'll be the best player I know" unless the person has a legitimate reputation lol.
I dont get the joke. Is it cause they play all the time and you do not know which match you are talking about? Watched one match and it was quite boring. But you know, thats just me..
The Smash Brothers got me into SSBM. I'm happy to see this clip, since it's obvious that you poured as much talent and hard work into it as you did the original documentary.
Just want to thank travis (samox) for being a big reason to why i play this game. We all appreciate your work and the time you take to do so. Thank you.
This is a really clever way of showing the Pound 3 losers bracket run in an exciting way when the vods aren't available. Samox, you continue to impress me. I cannot wait for Metagame. Everything about this excerpt is masterful. The interview clips all serve an important purpose, the pacing and sequencing is EXTREMELY well done, and the music, dialogue, video, and pics all fit together and are perfectly timed . You are an amazing storyteller, Samox. Your hard work really shows. (Also, I just realized that TBH4 grand finals was Mango in losers vs. M2K. Genius.)
Yeah, I can make out what they're saying, but I feel like people who don't know all the names and lingo are giong to have trouble following... (And I think it has more to do with the people not enunciating well, than with the music being too loud. Some people like Scar and Toph are easier to understand. Unfortunately, even though he's awesome, Wife seems to blend some of his words together when he speaks fast.)
The people saying this most likely have way too much bass on whatever theyre using. With high quality headphones you shouldnt have a problem hearing them
You never know what'll happen in the future. If anything, Mango still has the potential to squash anyone. Despite not winning every tournament, it's not like there's anyone he hasn't been able to beat recently
I have seen this single video no less than 10 times now... every time it has given me chills. I don't care whether this documentary comes out in November or 10 years from now. As long as it comes out, I will be MORE than happy. Keep up the great work, Samox!
I saw the original doc in the spring of 2015, and I was amazed at the depth of the story lines and how resilient the smash community is. It got me into competative smash so to see a new episode coming out is really cool to me and makes me optimistic about the direction that the community is moving in.
I rarely tap on the notification for new youtube videos from people I am subscribed to, but when I see a new video from East Point, I stop whatever I'm doing cause it's time for a melee update.
Good stuff Samox. Excited to see the end product. You clearly have a grasp of the shape you want it to be. Keep working your magic even on those long nights in front of the screen.
I mean… These are exactly how Mang0's matches at Pound 3 and The Big House 4 went. These were his actual matches in losers. Pound 3 smashboards.com/data/rankings/160.jpg TBH4 (bottom right) smashboards.com/data/rankings/2364.jpg It's certainly symbolic cuz it's two tournaments 6 years apart where he came back from losers to win against M2K in Grand Finals. But it IS a literal representation of two tournaments. These aren't made up examples. So… you know.
Yeah but they're not visually different enough in my opinion :o They look exactly the same save for the colour - and the names of course, but with rapid editing like this + voiceover, it's not easy to keep track of. I think making them more distinct visually would help out viewers like me. Yknow? Idk. Maybe make the Pound brackets look like old paper brackets and the TBH4 brackets look like challonge brackets. 's just my two cents!
Exploiting the habits that people have, that they're conditioned to do because that's what you're supposed to do and that's what used to work nine times out of ten until you fought him. And then he gets away with it because he knows you better than you know yourself.
YOU GUYS GOT BOBBY HELL YEAH we in for a good time. We have a great lineup of personalities, really looking forward to the commentary on this just as much as the documented material itself. Wife looks like someone's dad, Chillin fixed his hair (finally. that shit looks clean though), Toph looks like a kid someone picked up somewhere, Lucky looks like he's been in the mountains, and Mang0 hasn't changed a bit. Love these guys.
After seeing this in the actual documentary I’m amazed with just how good it was. I thought this was an improvement over the original doc when I saw it years ago, but seeing the final product shocked me with just how much it had improved since this original clip.
Super Hype for this Samox!! Couldn't ask for a better man to document this history. One thing that I think would help the mirroring effect between the 2 different tournaments would be to show the player portraits like the last series, but with a young Mango portrait for the older tournament and a current portrait for the newer tournament. Maybe even change the color scheme of the brackets. Keep the energetic neon for the new tournament but possibly use a more desaturated color scheme for the older one. No matter what I think it will turn out amazing like last time, just spitballing ideas. Keep up the amazing work!
Yo, I'm so hype and I don't know how I'm supposed to contain it until Dec 11th. Truly the best timing, and #FreeMelee is gonna rally to let this game live another 19 years
