Now I am going to inspect every knife blade I find in the ground for a maker's mark!! (I live in Arkansas so I doubt I'll discover anything too noteworthy--except maybe that I need reading glasses.) I love seeing the stuff you are finding!
Man I only know of 4 HBC sites around me. Two have been wiped from existence by development, one is a federal historic site and one I can't get to on an island lol. I'll have to live through you.
This was a great day of detecting. The pipe bowl was really a surprise. I remember seeing these clay pipes described at Fort Michilimackinac as one of the few “disposable” items in colonial culture.
Don't worry about haters brother they aren't out sweating researching digging we are sitting in ac on our butts lol I'm thankful brother knees won't take it anymore
Wow that seal is crazy old! I found a similar seal but it was 1770’s … nothing as old as that one! The trade items I find are fairly close to Fort Mackinac so I often find fort related military items. Do you find military items?
Cloth Seals were a way to Identify the maker as well as a way to regulate quality and control of textile goods. These were used as early as the 13th century.
