Sorry done it again!! I was saying I sometimes think that my metal detector is the closest thing I'll get to owning a time machine , when every signal can transport you to time period! Thanks for another great video Hans, you're favourite RU-vid channel!
+Andrew PIKE that's a good comparison. . it is definitely a kind of time machine! thank you for watching and for your kind words! I'm happy to hear that you like my channel :) all the best, hans
Hello Hans. Thank you very much for hours and hours of very good and interesting videos. I am watching every one of them. Congrats with all the amazing finds you have. Keep up the good work! ( fun work I know, but never the less quite much work to rig the camera every time you have a good signal, not to speak about all the time needed to edit and cut the video back home. I know, I made a few videos myself earlier, of metal detecting under water. Looking forward to your next video. Greetings from Norway :-D
hello kai, thank you for watching and for your kind word about my videos I'm happy to hear you like them and that you appreciate my work. sorry for the late reply but for some reason I didn't see your comment in the community section. all the best, GL&HH! hans

Hi Hans a great video as always. You have written well in a post when you said"only a metaldetectorist can be so happy for a fibula". It is true. I was happy with you and for you too. What a fantastic find!! I think that's the most complete one I've watched anyone pull out of the ground! Congratulations! I had to rewind the vid a couple of times and got a good chuckle at your expense. You threw your pin pointer down like it was an unwanted stick. Lol! Great video and what a range in history. Thanks for sharing and good luck on the next hunt.
+da2moso hello my friend. you're right, it is. . I found only 4 similar fibulae and this one is definitely in the best condition! haha. . yes I was very excited about this find :D thank you for watching!! all the best, hans
Terra Germania, The shell casing is a .45-70. It was a standard Buffalo hunting round in the American west. It was also used in France during the 1st. World War/French side. The rifle was a single shot rolling block rifle shipped from the U.S....Rolling blocks were used in the American Civil War. They even had a .50 caliber round...A monster bullet in size.
+William Hammonds hello william, thank you my friend, I'm glad that you like the scenery shots . . haha. . I'm eagerly anticipating my return to this tree root and to dig the item. . of course I will take you along with me :) thank you for watching!! all the best, hans
. was nichts heißen muss. . vielleicht ist es eher eine art halbierter schelle. . .ich werde bekanntgeben wenn mir mein archäologe das objekt bestimmt hat. vielen dank für deine hilfe. . ich weiß das zu schätzen :) LG, hans

I was so excited for you finding the beautiful fibula brooch and the rest of your finds. I haven't a clue what the mystery item is, I shall keep an eye on here to see what it is. Take care Hans, good luck 🍀 and happy hunting Mary-Ellen UK 🙋 👍
+M Johnson hello mary- ellen, I'm very happy to hear that you like the forest and the birds song! It would be a crime not to show the beauty of the spring landscape. . I enjoy every second in my beloved forest :) the fibula is stunningly beautiful and I'm very happy about this find. . the mystery item is still a riddle . . some viewers assumed that it could be half a bell. . . thank you for watching! take care too mary- ellen and all the best, hans

Another great video! In addition to ReclusiveMountainMan's input on the shell casing. The 45-70 was originally a black powder design, .45 inch caliber 405 grain lead bullet powered by 70 grains of black powder thus the 45-70 designation. Continue getting excited over finds, when you don't it is time to quit. Forty plus years and I still whoop over something good!
+Joel Burns thank you for your precise explanation. . many viewers already said that it is an unusual find for germany. . cool :) thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, hans
Your enthusiasm upon finding that fibula was contagious! I was so very happy and excited when you found it. I am really enjoying the digs in this forest. It looks so beautiful there. Will you be doing any mushroom foraging videos this year? I certainly would like to see that as wel.
+Salvatore Presti I'm happy to hear that :) It was a great and positive feeling to find it and it's great that I was able to make you happy too :) I go mushroom hunting every year unless the conditions allow it. . I would be very happy to show it in a new video :) thank you for watching! all the best, hans
+tnt neon hello john, thank you for watching and for your kind comment. . I'm happy to hear you like my video and the finds :) all the best my friend, hans
Another outstanding video,Hans. I had just finished extoleing the quality and style of your videos on a Canadian metal detecting site.I had also stated my enjoyment of your excitement when you find an exceptional relic. Then I watch your video and voila! What great finds. The fibula is extrordinary.I also think that the other unknown relic is a horse tack ornament. It somewhat resembles the medieval horse decorations found in the British Isles.Congratulations and I await your next video. Dennis
+Dennman88 hello dennis, thank you my friend, I'm happy to hear that you like my video! thank you also for sharing my videos on other platforms . . i appreciate your support! the fibula is not only a stunning find for itself. . the area where I found it is not known for finds like that and that makes the fibula an even more amazing find! thank you for your guess about the mystery item. . you are most likely right with your assumption! thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, hans
Very interesting. I love imagining the people wandering these areas during their different times but all over the same soil. Strange timetravel. Thank you for sharing your finds.
Lovely woods Hans, I love this site, your excitement makes me excited too ! I Love the fibula and buckle, great finds all. I like how you move the leaves with your Boots, makes it very personal, Thank You.
If Hans is posting a video with "EXTRAORDINARY" in the title it is a must see and...it was ! What a dream object to find Hans, I was realy feeling your enthousiasme through the screen. As you stated it is of an enormous importance for the archeologists. Now I'm very curious for the object under the trunk : get your axe and reveil the treasure ;-) GL & HH !
+Johan de vlieger haha. . I'm glad that you agree with my video title. . I think some people expect a huge gold treasure when they read titles like that ;) the fibula find changes the local history of this place. . that's what makes me so happy :) In my next video I will care for the find under the stump ;) thank you for watching and for your kind comment johan! all the best, GL&HH! hans
It's such a joy to see you back at it after a long winter. I've been happily viewing the new videos. What wonderful finds! I hope some day to hear about what was next to the old stump. Such a mystery. Thanks again for all of your creative and fascinating videos.
+Joanna Sandsmark hello joanna :) thank you for following me again! I'm happy you like my videos! of course I will share the digging of the mystery find under the root :) thank you for watching and for your kind comment! all the best, hans
Good day Hans,I too am loving your videos.Thank you for all your hard work sharing them with us.I never detected before but maybe one day.Love your excitement and the unearthed history.Happy hunting.
hello maurice, thank you for watching my videos and for your kind words! I'm happy to hear that you appreciate what I do! all the best and please stay tuned :) hans
You have to dig a signal under a tree. Earlier, people were buried treasure in the earth, and then on it planted a tree. Perhaps, in your case, that's exactly what it was. Good luck and congratulations on the publication in the book!
+kramar hello my friend, don't worry, I will do that and you will be with me :) I can't wait to return there as you can imagine! I hope you are right about the treasure ;) thank you for watching! all the best, hans
I love how careful you are in extracting relics from the ground Hans! You are finding fantastic things, and explaining their significance to us so that we can learn from them and appreciate them! The archeologists that you are working with are blessed to have you! I just subscribed!

+Agent Fungus hello my friend, thank you for watching and for your kind words! It's great that you like my videos! I love the peacefulness of detecting. . It's always like a little vacation trip :) al the best, hans
Wow! What a great Fibula. The 45-70 case is an old US round that was first produced in 1873. The one you found is probably from a sportsman or hunter from the modern era. They still make it. I'd say the triangular copper item looks to me like a brooch or pendant. Very nice.. Take Care Jeff
+ItsAlwaysRusty hello jeff, thank you, I'm happy to hear you like the finds! thank you for your help with the cartridge! I appreciate it :) ... this mystery find keeps me busy, so many possibilities! thank you for watching and commenting my friend! all the best, hans

I have missed your videos this year Hans, but I also enjoy ever one of your old videos. Such a pleasure. Very curious to see what is under the stump roots. Chill Bill calls the bell shape object a crotal bell ,I think. Used for animals. Don't know if I have spelled crotal correctly.
hello myrtha, I haven't got luck with the crops my farmers grow this year :D all of them will be harvested late summer. I hope to be able to detect and upload new videos soon! I'm also curious what's hidden under the stump. . unfortunately my permit to detect the site expired with the end of the excavation. now only the night hawks are haunting the place and maybe they will be the only ones to find out what it is. sad, sad. . . all the best, hans
+gyulanszky hello! thank you for watching and for your kind comment! I'm happy to hear you like my video, the finds and music :) check out the website of notabene. . you can purchase the cd with all of their music very cheaply: www.notabene-musik.de/styled/ all the best, hans

+benwiwi67 hello ben, haha. . I was over the moon when I recognized what It is. . .such a great find and the area where i found it is very unusual for a find like that! thank you for watching!! all the best, hans
Oh my gosh! You had a tough dig, moving that rock and kept digging and were rewarded with ROMAN!! Proof they were in that area you are helping to study, congratulations!
+Clad Queen hello my friend, haha. . yes, I had to dig trough 2000 years. . .I didn't cut the dig. . I thought you should see this live dig. . the main reason why I was so happy about this find (beside the stunning fibula) was the historical importance of finding it in this area! thank you for watching and for your kind comment :) all the best, hans
Thanks Hans for taking me along on this hunt. Spring looks great over there, and as usual your filming was impeccably stunning. Love your first find and the comment by 59acres really cracked me up about the mystery object. I'm not going to have a fake nose nailed to my forehead no matter how much it would improve a missing proboscis thank you very much. Ha Ha! Looking forward to the next video and I hope the mystery object under the stump will be eventually found, maybe its a hidden treasure or a coin horde of gold from the distant past, that would be great. Happy Hunting and cheers from sunny Australia.
+John Korhonen thank you for coming along with me my friend! I'm happy to hear that you like my filming, nature and the finds! haha. . I like the comment! when I can't come up with the definition of a find I always have silly thoughts about what it could be! his idea was very creative and funny :) I promise that I will dig the hidden find together with all of you. . can't wait to see what it is :) thank you for watching!!! all the best, hans
I love your metal detecting adventures! It is amazing to see you find these ancient objects. Here in America, we are happy to find anything more than 100 years old.
+KRETOWISKO hello my friend, thank you for your kind comment and for watching my video! I'm happy to hear that you like them! all the best, GL&HH! hans
always love detecting in Germany. ashame forrest rangers are not happy to see us in Germany. in Holland its no problem to detect. now awaiting my new Makro Racer 2.. 😀😀😀 Get in HH
actually you need a permission from the department of archaeology to metal detect in germany. It illegal to detect without it and it can cause you trouble with the police. I know that the metal detecting law changed in the netherlands . . i think it's quite liberal. .is it? all the best, hans
Oh Wow, first find, I had a huge smile on my face looking at you with the beautiful fibula, congratulations, as for the mystery find, I would go for horse harness as some of your other comments have suggested, a Jewish mezuzah, have tended to be oblong and cylinderical, for the only reason that the prayer that goes inside is very long. Great hunt, can not wait for the next one, and big thumbs up with respect to nature. 👍
+Louisa Diamond I'm happy to hear that, thank you for your empathy :) the mystery find is still a riddle. . but doesn't we all like riddles? I will tell you all what exactly it is when I have found out. the mezuzahs I looked up all had a different appearance. thank you for watching and for your your kind words! all the best, hans
