Thanks as always Pat. I don't know which I liked more the sterling spoon or that beautiful property I have permission on. All things considered it was a great day in the field.
Thanks Deej. I've been picking it up as I go along. So many beautiful pieces of glass and stoneware even in its shattered state. I appreciate your support as always !
Great video Todd live those old IHP nice sterling spoon. Looks like you got a lot of land to cover, should make for lots of videos. Lol. Thanks for sharing. Until next time HH&GL *Chris*
Thanks Chris. Yes there are acres of land to sweep but it's been somewhat slow. I have a feeling that the quarry has been hit although I was told otherwise. So few coins and no silvers. As a matter of fact those sweet " high tones " are few and far between and are almost always Copper or Iron. I'll keep plugging away. I appreciate your support as always !
Hey I've heard those Wal-Mart spoons date back to the 70s good find LOL but seriously that's a great find I've yet to dig one&the Indians always get the blood flowin GL&HH brother--Brian
Great finds and hunts! I bet that key is a railroad switch key. Can you see any marks on it. I worked for an Illinois RR years ago and have several similar to yours. Good Luck
Suncast45 I dug that at the former site of a quarry town. It had a general store, a cheese factory, post office, school and several homes. It also had a rail line running to it and I found that a few hundred yards from the westernmost spur. I bet you're right and if so I love it even more !! Thanks a bunch for the input but most of all for your support!!
The very first time I saw a metal detector in action was at a railroad office in E. St. Louis in 1974. A RR clerk was searching a gravel parking lot for a coworker who had lost a massive key ring with at least 20 various RR keys on it. And I was amazed when after about 20 minutes he kicked gravel aside and picked up that bunch of keys. I was hooked forever, LOL and my first silver coin, a 43 war nickel came from Forest Park, St. Louis. I'm still hunting today at 72!
