Most of my family is in Cheshire and Wallingford. Being from there, I gotta say you guys do a great job in such a populated state, small at that. Not many people at all metal detect in my area, so the condensed knowledge you guys pass along in your videos is really appreciated, as my season begins right now!

That watch-winder has the Jacobin or Liberty Hat as you said, which I found this- The Liberty Cap in France. The Phrygian cap (in French, bonnet Phrygian) is also known in French as the Liberty cap (bonnet de la Liberté) or as a red cap (bonnet rouge). It was adopted during the French Revolution. Liberty is sometimes shown wearing a Phrygian cap. (Also if you remember, the 7 dwarfs wore those) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phrygian_cap

The watch winder is incredible. I love a find like that as much as the Reale Spanish Silver.

That is a cool reason to detect. I have always wondered what it was like to live back then. What did they do, how did the entertain themselves. What they wore. What they read. Just all kinds of things. Clear back to the king and Queen days. BIrdDogg, Relic Recoverist, yourselves, SilverSlingers, Bastia Today and many others in Britain, the U.K., Scotland, Norway Germany - I just want to thank you all for inspiring me to want to detect and fight my spine problem to try and get out, I am disabled. I am trying to,gets bits and pieces from other detectorist and make a collage of little shadow boxes with each find, it's name and date, date found and who found out it. I may contact you. I have only been out 2 times about 30 minutes each in my backyard to try it.

Wouldn't it be great if Whites could take our maybe a 5th or 6th graders, even if for them you have to seed the field, and let them detect and find. You are giving the kids a passions for history and starting a early detectorist group.

You know if in high school they had had a field trip and did metal detecting to,find pieces of history, even if they seeded the field for the students. Just think of how much more interesting history would have been, I for one would have loved it and taken much more interest in history. See just like the large cent you found that you thought was a con-man's trick coin, I am,sure you are probably right. But all of these things would add interest to kids. by the way back between 1968 to 1972 when I was in high school we used to,drill holes in dimes to wear. I don't remember why but we did. My momma used to say Christina Lynn that is defacing government property and what is the use of wearing it anyway.
