Thank you for the review. I have been using this machine for about 4 months and I have a wonderful collection of beach tent stakes. I look forward to your continued review of this machine.
Got this machine for Christmas and if Aluminum ever goes up in price Trump will call me for a Loan ! I always hunt in Disc and use all metal for pinpointing only if you get the dreaded ring to coin pong bounce it's Aluminum 99% of the time I just move on now !
Take some known targets with you, ring, coins bit of metal, etc. to test your new machines. You will learn them better and quicker. Thanks for your videos.
I suggest you make some common targets, just epoxy a coin, nail, pull tab, ring, washer etc. in plastic caps or lids. Throw them on the sand and see where a coil's hot spot will be located. The various shapes also affect detection.
Fellow Floridian here up in Jax. I've got a Minelab Explorer with a 15" WOT coil that I use on the beach and recently scored an Excal after seeing another Excal user come out of the surf with two rings and an anklet... which is what brought me to your channel while looking for Excal tips. Thanks for the great videos, you're like, totally awesome !
Hi there! Oh wow a 15 inch coil!? That's insane! But I bet you find some amazing items. :) Yey on the Excal! It's a fantastic machine. :D I'm glad you found my channel. :) Hahaha, well thank you! And thanks for watching!
Take your coil cable and spiral it around the shaft and you won’t need the cable tie ,, that way you won’t have that big loop to snag on😊love the video👍
I had the beach hunter with i.d. I found the floating coil would wear me out after a while. Got a Tiger Shark and sold the White's. Good video, thanks for posting.
I know what you mean. In the last hunt I did, I did some hunting in the water and I did start noticing the coil floating a bit. I'll need to try it in deeper water but I'm expecting the floating to get more noticeable the deeper I go. Thank you! And thanks for watching.
I have a Beach Hunter 300 Id...Works great on the beach and ok in wet sand, not so great in the water. But I do like it and planning on keeping it. This is the one I take when I go to the Beach for vacation. It loves to find gold rings, and hates pull tabs, but you dig all green and yellow color with this detector. This is no pi machine...sandollar....!
Oh really? Hum, that's a bummer. I'll have to try doing a test underwater and then on land using the same targets and see how it responds. Thanks for the idea! :D Oh that's good to know!
Another excellent review video. You go into great detail in these reviews. This is a must watch for anyone considering buying this excellent detector. Whites is still made in Oregon USA. That I like as any problems can be sent back without huge charges with shipping. Looking at Whites detectors, that coil looks standard on most of their machines. It must work really well to be offered on so many detectors. I like the colour light identifications. If you were snorkeling with a mask on, that would be easier to see. They really put a lot of thought into this design. I would think that it takes time to get used to all the pros, cons and quirks, but in time would appreciate the value in this detector. looking forward to watching you do more hunts with this Beach Hunter 300.
Thank you! And thanks for watching! I try to answer all the questions someone might have about the machine. :D That's a very good point! Yea, this is the first machine I've seen with color ID. It's interesting. :) And your right, snorkeling would be a great place for this machine. Especially in murky water possibly. :) I'm looking forward to hunting with it some more also. :)
On your Raptor handle mount, you can cover the bolt ends nicely. Go to an auto parts store and pick up some vacuum port caps. They are rubber and then you won't scratch your arms, hands or legs. Also I enjoy your videos, you've come a long ways.
That's some good thinking! Yea, every now and then those screws get my arm. OUCH!! Thank you! And thanks for watching! I've really tried to get better at everything. :D
Yea, it's pretty nice so far. Well, I don't get to keep all the machines I test out. I only own three. The rest have all been sent back once I finished testing them. :)
Didn't take you long to imitate the beeps. I just love that. Good to see the beautiful legs getting an outing. I spent ages waiting for your little black skirt to blow up , then after half an hour I realised that the black bit are shorts. I'm bloody like grease lightning mind wise. Pity you never got to hear a coin signal.
Looks like a very nice machine. its a whites so im sure it is. Also looks like the perfect machine for you. I wouldnt abandon those holes so quickly , Keep digging a few more times. you may have just let a nice ring get away from you. love your videos, keep it up. Thanks for what you do.
Yea, I'm liking it so far. :) I hate bailing on targets that's for sure. But I have a habit of digging until I get the target and 30 minutes later, I'm pulling up a pull tab. :( I hate to think of what it could have been though. :/ Thank you! And thanks for watching!
The Beach Hunter ID is deepest when set close to max sensitivity in all metal. There is a significant jump in sensnofnthe LED disc system in AM when you push sens near max. you will go much deeper with LED id. GB is not so important in FL soil due to low mineral content. I have mine with 9.5" coil and it is quite deep in close to MAX sens in AM. Disc modr sucks and the coil floats, only cons with this unit. It is good at micro jewelry hunting in wet and dry sand when set like above. It is an inherintly noisy MD at max sens but you will hear targets through the noise. In the water preset or slightly below works well.
Oh that's good to know. I'll have to try increasing the sens on my next hunt. :) It floats huh? Good to know as well. I've not gone very far into the water with it yet but I will. :) Thanks for the tips and info. I'll keep them in mind on my next hunt. Thank you!
I think she is just learning. One video the sand scoop handle was on the bottom side, but now it is on the top side correctly. And yes tie the first 8-10 inches straight from the coil with some play, and then wrap starting over the top around the detector stem until you get to where you connect it to the brains of the detectors. This is almost standard practice. I don't think she is really watching other youtubers like aquachigger or relic recoverists and learning from them about how to really find things. She could especially watch and listen to Ed the beach hunter's videos and learn a ton of stuff and increase her good find rate. Maybe that would increase her subscriber base because I think all serious metal detectorists take these things seriously as well as entertainment. Please take this a helpful comment.
I am still learning. I learn something new every time I go out! :D For the Raptor handle, I've mounted it a few different ways to see which way will work best for me. I don't really think there is a set right or wrong way. Same thing with wrapping the cable. I honestly don't see a difference if I wrap it around the shaft or run it straight up and bundle it up top. The machines work the same in my opinion. Plus, having the majority of the cable weight closer to me makes the coil area lighter and thus easier to swing. Tony Eisenhower uses that same practice. He's actually who I learned a ton from. Check him out if you don't already watch him. :)
I have been using mine for a few years, if you submerge the unit it performs awesome. but ya the waves crashing makes you think you have a hit, but you will know if you do even amongst the chatter, provided its a solid hit.
Yea? That's great to know. I'll be taking it in the water for sure. Hopefully this weekend if it's nice. Fingers crossed! :D Yea, I was surprised how chattery it was but it was VERY rough that day.
I see you don't have a digital I.D readout screen on the 300--and I know you are really good at figuring out the identity of a target without it and you must be good at knowing the depth of a target by the sound issued by the detector, and it's great--I am still a newbie at this detecting hobby so I think I would need a digital readout that indicates by number the identity of a target and depth ---like the mx5 or AT Pro--and I just like to look at numbers anyhow--lol--,so I got to think you are pretty good at this sport, which I admire --I appreciate you, taking the time to demonstrate the abilities of the different detectors, and someday hope to get to your level of experience -- I will be looking for your next video, thanks HH and GL
That is correct, no screen read out with this machine. Well thank you but I assure you, I'm no expert at determining what I'm about to dig. Only with the Excal can I guess 2 possible items. Bottle caps and foil. Hahaha! Neither are helpful of course. oh well! :D Thank you! And thanks for watching!
Good job I know what the first time out with a new machine is a challenge. I think this may be a good one but it is also not for the beginner. May I suggest you do a comparison the same as you did with the last one and at lease this way you have a fighting chance on identifying what you have before you dig it. Also I wanted to suggest to you and your viewers that if you have a problem with screws and nuts loosening. Before you tighten them up a drop on the thread so when tightened and the glue dries it will stay till you put a wrench or screw driver to it to loosen. GL&HH
Thank you! You're right about that, using new machines takes some time to figure them out. I'll be doing a few more hunts with the 300 and I'm looking forward to learning more about the machine. :)That's a great tip! Thanks!
Who can dislike your videos? Really? You are so professional and nice.. Nah probably just mistakes, I really like this machine and I''m looking to buy one of this but there are so many good machines out there that confuse me a little bit. Thank you for sharing GL & HH :)
Hahahaha! Tell me about it! I have no idea. Well thank you! And thank you for watching! It can be a bit confusing. There are so many to pick from and they do so many different things. The best thing is to figure out what you really want in terms of "bells and whistles". Once you figure that out, it's a tiny bit easier. :)
cool vid , wish I could afford to have a machine worthy of the beach water lol , I'm still using a bounty hunter I bought 3 years ago when I started metal detecting. ehhhh ,maybe one day.
Thank you! And thanks for watching! They are nice that's for sure. But, you can take any machine to the beach. Hit that dry sand or the wetish stuff. You could still find something amazing with a regular old detector. :) Take it out and try. You might be surprised.
Great video as always much love to you hope you get them jars filled up this year I've gotten three pennies and tons of pull tabs, bottle caps, and foil just wish ppl would though away their own garbage instead of me digging it up and doing it for them take care hon happy hunting!!!
being able to hear you loud and clear in all that wind is amazing. very good job on the way you have your mic setup. have you found nice jewelry that you wear? new subscriber and have not seen all your videos yet. I only subscribe to good and interesting videos.
I'm glad you were able to hear me. I was worried about that. :) Thank you! Well, I've found some nice stuff but I don't wear any of it. I prefer to keep it at home safe and sound. :D Well thank you for subbing and watching! :D
great video as usual. I have used my BH 300 for 2 years but only in fresh water I like it but in water the coil tends to float anxious to see if you have the same problem.
Thank you! And thanks for watching! You're the second person to mention the floating coil. We shall see what it does. I'm curious now if it floats. you wouldn't think it would because it's a fairly open coil but who knows. :)
Well, I've only hunted with the 300 once and it's still to early to tell honestly. Give me another 2 hunts and I'll be able to answer that question. :D Hahahaha!
It sometimes helps me recover items better in the quicksand when I dig several or more quick scoops as fast and deep as I can to try and out run the formation of the quicksand. I just throw the piles away from the water and check each pile hoping I got the item in one of the scoops before the quicksand got them. If you check the hole after each scoop you allow more time for it to sink. Sometimes I'll aggressively dig as deep and wide a hole as fast as I can and pile the dirt up in a safe direction away from the water hoping to maximize my chances of getting it before it sinks. I just know the ones I lose got to be those massive diamond and platinum rings lol.
I know what you mean. I've not very quick when it comes to digging several holes super fast. The weight is just to heavy to me. :( But I try! :D But, I can try what you said about digging several scoops and then checking them later. I like that. Lol! That's how I feel when I can't reach the targets!
Estoy buscando un detector que vaya bien en arena negra y me han hablado bien del beah hunter TDI. Qué me puedes decir de él? Tienes más vídeos de búsqueda?
Hey hunters. They say the PI detectors will work Mach better on beach than any multi frequency like the NoX, Makro, Anfíbio, Simplex, Tesoro, etc, but they will pick everything (trash) because they don’t have discrimination. Is that true? If so, what to do? Lose depth or dig up for everything? So hard decide!
She Detector so, I know you've finished up with this machine. would you tell me what you thought of it? I would like a good saltwater metal detector, I was looking at this or saving up for the excal. Will this be okay in the water (Not too chatty)
As somewhat of a newb to detecting what in your opinion would be a good detector for the beach that’s in the 300 to 500 dollar price range? Thanks Love your vids, very informative
A few people have asked me about that. I'm not ready to try one out. Plus, I want to test out machines that are a bit cheaper than the 3030. Few people can afford the Excal at $1499 and even less can afford the 3030 so I've not ventured down that road yet. One day I will though. :D
I didn't find it heavy or difficult to swing actually. Which is kind of surprising given it's size. :) I'll speak more on that in next week's video. :) Thank you! And thanks for watching. :D
I want to say no, but it could be different on some machines. On the machines I've used, I don't believe any of the directions said not to wrap the cable the way I did mine. So long as it's not interfering with the coil, I don't see a problem to running it straight up. And I don't see a benefit to wrapping it around the shaft. Have you heard or read anything saying otherwise? I'm curious.
She Detector I've heard rumors that wrapping in front of the shaft helps with Target ID. But I've also heard that not completely wrapping the coil like you do, helps with less fatigue while swinging. Thanks for your reply, it's always nice getting to hear back from you. As always, Good luck and Happy hunting.
That's interesting. I've not heard the first one. I have heard the second one though. I agree with that. Adding the weight of the coil closer towards you reduces the weight you have to swing. :) You're very welcome!
@@SheDetector coilling it creates a coil, which creates a field that draws from power (sent/recieved). It's not a giant amount, but can affect performance
Nice technique tutorial...thank you!! (You're racking up bonus points...get ready for a big payday!)So...what do you think...Sea Hunter Mark II...or Whites Beach Hunter 300?
Thank you! And thanks for watching! Hahaha. Yey! I'm ready! :D Hum, well I think it's still to early to tell on the Whites. After a few more hunts, I'll have a better idea. :D
It does not. But the coil should make it pretty easy to locate the target. I didn't do so great during this hunt but maybe the next one will be better. :D Pin point is very nice for sure! :D
hi darling, im in the uk, i just dont think you should go in the sea as you dont know whats in there, sharks and stuff, nice vidios by the way, i have a minelab safari and i love it, take care sweetie and be carefull, kind regards mike.
Nice review. Your thoughts on PI vs VLF for beach hunting? I like PI units. That coil looks a bit difficult on pinpointing it did seem to favor the left side. But it seems pretty good machine built solid. What are the 5 machines you are going to test? I am hoping the JW Fisher Pulse 8X. Or the Garrett AT Pro I am thinking about the AT Pro as I dont have a good VLF machine. Can you post the list your going to review? The Whites TDI Pro looks like a winner, also its PI. Thanks for picking up the cup :) I know the feeling with a hard to locate garbage I feel your pain!!! LOL keepa huntin treasure its out there.
Thank you! And thanks for watching! Oh that's a hard one. All machines have their pros and cons. :/ I don't know that I could answer. But, my favorite machine is by far the Excal. It's a VLF. So.... if I had to pick between a VLF and PI, I would go VLF. But ONLY because I love my Excal. :) Yea, the coil was throwing me off a bit. But maybe it was just the wind. Hahaha! I'll see how it behaves on the next hunt. :) I agree, it seems pretty solid so far. Still have more testing to do of course, including underwater. :) The five machines in the order I'm testing them are: 1) Fisher CZ-21, 2) Tesoro Sand Shark, 3) Whites Beach Hunter 300, 4) Detector Pro Underwater, & 5) Viper Hybrid Trident. I'm halfway done with the list. Sadly the 2 you listed aren't on the list. But, I did try out the AT Pro already. I've got about 5 videos with it, make sure to check them out. :) Hahaha!
I have had the Whites Beach Hunter 300 for a month now and hunt in the Disc mode and Pinpoint in the All Metal mode . If you get the back and forth pong noise as it jumps from Ring to Coin then congrats it almost always Aluminum ! It loves Aluminum I bring home boxes on every trip at the Beach or Park even a 1840's Church yep that where Aluminum goes to get buried ! So, "She Detector " I feel your Pain ! Metal Detectors just prove that most Folk's are just plain Trashy !
Hahahahaha! That's what another viewer said. The exact same things! :D Hahaha, 1840's huh? Sounds like good hunting ground! :D Oh you're telling me. Humans suck! Hehehe. I'll try to remember the pong noise on my next hunt. :D
I'm a new subscriber, my name is Larry. I've noticed from @ least 2 of your videos that you don't use a metel detector with a digital display. Is there a reason why you prefer the more analog versions over the digital ones. I own a Garrett AT Gold, digital display and I love it!
Hi Larry! Thank you for subbing and watching! Hum, not that you mention it, I don't use machine with displays do I? Hahaha. I never really noticed. It's not something I didn't on purpose I promise. The machines I'm testing out where selected by my viewers several months ago. They are machines people wanted to see in action. I do plan on testing many more machines and several of them will have screens. The ones I've been testing lately are specifically beach machines, made to go underwater so screens aren't really good for that. To much pressure from the water.
Not at all. I didn't like the machine at the beach at all. Other people say they can get it to work for them at the beach but I didn't. :( I preferred the MX Sport over the AT Pro actually.
Thank you! And thanks for watching! It doesn't have that feature. But the coil should make it pretty easy to locate the target. I'll be playing around with that more on my next hunt though. :)
I don't believe so, so. The coil is hardwired to the unit. I'm sure you COULD put a different one on but you'd have to find someone willing to do that and it would for sure void the warranty.
I think it`s too much of a detector for beach hunting. Too many adjustments to have to keep playing with. I like my AT Pro .It is easy to operated once it is ground ballanced and doesn`t get fussy when your in and out of the waves. Great video thanks for sharring. Cheers from Canada.
Yea? You could be right. I'm not sure yet. Need to do more hunts with it. :) The AT Pro is a nice machine for sure. :D Thank you! And thanks for watching! And hello way up in Canada. :)
Not really surprisingly. Hahaha. I do have to learn each machine when I first use it, but they are all relatively similar. Some have pros and cons over other machines for sure but for the most part they are all pretty easy to figure out. :) Of course figuring out the best settings for my environment takes a little time. Well thank you! And thank you for watching!
Thanks she detector! I didnt get something! Is this detector same detector with the name whites dual field PI detector or its completely another machine?
As ChuckVT said, it's a different machine. Here's a link to check out the specs if you're interested. :) www.kellycodetectors.com/catalog/beachhunter-300
wow i like that,, what is toggle switch on bottom for???? is it water proof and for how much??? what is cost of machine???????,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,sanddollar
Hi !! I enjoyed the video. Sorry, I haven't commented in awhile. I've been battling lung cancer. It was caught in the early stages, so hopefully I won't glow in the dark for nothing. :)..Now that I got that outta the way, I was a bit shocked that the Whites acted up when the waves past over it. Is that common with most beach detectors? I'm sure that machine would probably act better once you had time to work the bugs out. I also noticed that the target I.D. wasn't all that either. Then again until they come up with a way to eliminate Aluminum if it isn't going to get better.. Thank, for sharing the vid Bye
Hi! Thank you! And thanks for watching! :D Oh my gosh, I'm sorry to hear that! Well, glowing in the dark could come in handy. At least it will make adult time in the dark more fun. Hahahaha! ;) I was too. I didn't expect it to act up like that at all. It's not super common but it does happen. It actually happens from time to time with the Excal. But after you're in the water a few inches, it's fine. But yea, I think you're right about working the bugs out. The target id does seem finicky. I don't think it's so great with the deeper targets. Thank you for watching!
the mx sport is great but in salt water, you have to lower the senitivity down to three and more if you go deeper than three inches or it over loads,, its great in sand or even wet sand,, but if you go into salt water its crapp,,
