Hello everybody!
Here's a NEW video with some GREAT finds!
I went back to the U.S. WWII Position.
After awhile, i had a really big signal in a foxhole... it turned out to be a U.S. WWII 81mm Mortar Ammo box.. but wait.. there is more in that hole!
I was lucky and discovered a dump 81mm Mortar ammo boxes!
In 1 of the boxes, i found something really strange.. but what i found in the other one.. is STUNNING!
It's like a WW2 time capsule.. closed in 1944.. opened in 2017!!
Enjoy watching the video! :-D

Yeah.. The last living veteran of World War I was Florence Green, a British citizen who served in the Allied armed forces, and who died 4 February 2012, aged 110. World War 2 vets are still living long and healthy lives which is amazing! The true heroes we owe our lives to because without those brave men and women, we wouldn't have what we have today!

Hey not sure if it was answered, but that big bar you found was and still is used to tow our vehicles. Instead of getting a “wrecker” to come tow it, you take two of those and attack them to the rings on the front on a truck, then another truck can tow it out. (We still use them now just a bit shorter in length)

Anyway just some facts about the top of the firing table it has some words it reads 81mm mortar and 3in trench mortar. MK stands for mark. H.E. Is high explosive. Lastly where it says fuse P.D. The P.D. Is point detonating. Cool video interesting to see what was all left behind.

When I was a kid, we lived on an island in the Pacific that was the scene of fighting between the Americans and the Japanese. It was not unusual to find shell casings on the beach. I found lots of .30 & .50 caliber casings. I also found a set of head phones behind our house. We also found a huge part of a plane shot full of large holes. It was tear drop shaped and was about 4' at the wide end and about 5' long. It was sealed on both ends, so I think it might have been a fuel tank from a plane. All this without a metal detector. I can only imagine what we would have found with a detector.

Those "stinky" rings at the bottom of the mortar boxes are explosive charges to add greater range to the projectile. They are still flammable.

Alright - I'm an archaeologist - Please take this in the kindest way I can put it. Please leave items in their original position where you found them if you can. The fact you are recording is outstanding because it means we still have a chance to get some of the context of where these things were. When you remove something from where it was - you lose context - and that basically means you can't tell the story of how it got there, what it means or really anything anymore. Because this stuff is relatively recent, its not as big of an issue - but PLEASE to anyone doing this as a hobby, if you find something please try to leave it where it is, and notify an archaeologist so they can at least document what was where, and what it means. You'd be amazed by what I could tell you if I can analyze not just the thing itself but what is surrounding it. Thanks for reading this far to any who do - I hope you have a great day

Those paper rings have gunpowder inside them and that's what made the mortars fly out of the tube with such power

That long metal thing you found, it is from a Artillery, they used those to knock down fighter jets or planes or whatever.

@History Secrets in this video you were reading from the card inside that ordinance can, and didn't comprehend the part which read 81MM and 3". I wanted to just chime in to say that's an imperial abbreviation for three inch. A single ' means the number if feet and a double " means number of inches. For reference, I am 6' 3" (six feet, three inches) tall which would be roughly 1905 milimeteres in your familiar measurement. Thanks for the interesting digs! I look forward to more of this content.

@timothinking9855 5 лет назад
Not hair, wool and cotton fibers they put in "paper" products, they were usually made from very little paper (like money) ,if they were, they would disintegrate during wet rainy conditions and that would be no good for anyone.

Those number on the cans are the Lot numbers given by the manufacturer. Another comment showed the abbreviation of HE= High Explosive ? I saw on another can lid the letters WP= White Phosphorus. Nasty stuff. Be careful. And yes the rings you find, handle with rubber gloves on. Thanks for the awesome video. I wished I had done the same when I was stationed at Gelnhausen back in '71-'72... Oh well.

Amazing find. So interesting and sad too to think how much is hidden under ground and how many young boys and men died in the fields. To find bones one must have respect. RIP soldiers. So sad you died alone away from their families. Be them American, British or German. You are remembered. Salute and Respect

Awesome find. But I wouldn´t manhandle the stuff like you do, considering those are mortar AMMO boxes. The stuff becomes highly unstable, yet you toss them around as if you didn´t care. In Denmark, that stuff would have been blown away.
