Hello BemusingBill, NW Army Italian Division here. This is truly a masterpiece and Arjen is a musical genius and a very talented musician. Too bad he doesn't like very much playing in public because he panics. This is the better version of this song with the presence of so many talented singers and musicians. BTW this is the first song on album "The Source". Take care

Here is a list of the composer and singers in order of appearance: Arjen Lucassen - Composer - Dutch singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist musician and record producer best known for his long-running progressive metal/rock opera project Ayreon. James Labrie - Lead singer for Dream Theater. Tommy Karevik - Lead singer of Kamelot and Seventh Wonder. Tommy Rodgers - Lead singer of Between the Buried and Me. Simone Simons - Lead singer of Epica. Nils K. Rue - Lead singer of Pagan's Mind and also worked with Eidolon. Tobias Sammet - Lead singer of Edguy & Avantasia. Hansi Kürsch - Lead singer of Blind Guardian and Demons & Wizards. Mike Mills - Multi-instrumentalist, vocalist and main songwriter for Toehider. Russell Allen - Lead singer of Symphony X and Allen/Lande. Michael Eriksen - Lead singer of Circus Maximus. Floor Jansen - Lead singer of After Forever, ReVamp & now Nightwish. Instrumentalists Joost van den Broek (ex-After Forever) - grand piano and electric piano Maaike Peterse (Kingfisher Sky) - cello Ed Warby - drums Ben Mathot - violin Jeroen Goossens (ex-Pater Moeskroen) - flute, wind instruments Arjen Anthony Lucassen - electric and acoustic guitars, all other instruments (composer) Next I would suggest reacting to the performances at Ayreon Universe concert, especially the following Intergalactic Space Crusaders, River of Time, Merlin's Will, Valley of the Queens, Ride the Comet, Star of Sirrah, And the Druids Turn to Stone, Age of Shadows & Everybody Dies.

Yeah, dropping the F-bomb at the end is something Arjen does a lot. She normally blows everyone up.💣🤩 If you're a prog guy, then Ayreon is a huge black hole to dive into. Sci-fi space rock/metal operas, same story scattered around all the albums in no particular order. Can be quite cheesy at times, but it's that goed ole Gouda cheese, so nobody's complaining.😁 I will make a somewhat different yet related suggestion. Most people today know Floor Jansen as the singer of Nightwish, but she was in two bands before, both of which were much heavier and rather progressive too. Check out: After Forever - Dreamflight Live ProgPower USA VIII (2007) Yes, they named their band after a Black Sabbath song.😊

It's the beginning. The first song on the album, The Source, which chronologically in the storyline, is the start of the entire story arc that spans multiple albums. Sir Joost van den Broek is one of the most important people Arjen works with, a musician and producer himself. He was the keyboardist in After Forever (04-09) with Floor, played with and produced ReVamp(Floor's band before Nightwish), and has produced the last 3 EPICA albums, and more. He does a lot of work on the live Ayreon shows too. The 11 vocalists in this video are: James LaBrie (Dream Theater) as The Historian Tommy Karevik (Kamelot, Seventh Wonder) as The Opposition Leader Tommy Rogers (Between the Buried and Me) as The Chemist Simone Simons (Epica) as The Counselor Nils K. Rue (Pagan's Mind) as The Prophet Tobias Sammet (Edguy, Avantasia) as The Captain Hansi Kürsch (Blind Guardian) as The Astronomer Mike Mills (Toehider) as TH-1 Russell Allen (Symphony X) as The President Michael Eriksen (Circus Maximus) as The Diplomat Floor Jansen (Nightwish as The Biologist. Floor wasn't in the live version you watched because she was on maternity leave awaiting the birth of her 2nd daughter Lucy. Trust TH-1, that's what the binary translates to. Th for Toehider. The Ayreon universe show from 2017 has pro shot videos available. Try Everybody Dies, Star of Sirrah, Intergalactic Space Crusaders, Valley of the Queens, or the show closer Eye of Ra with all 16 singers on stage. This show is pretty much a best of Ayreon and another of Arjen's projects ,Star One.

Great Ayreon fan here! The many projects Arjen Lucassen did have astounded me. His compositions are so diverse, as his the tone he chooses for his projects. Star One project (3 albums) deal with tv and movie scifi stories: heavy metal for the most part). Than explore his collaboration with Anneke van Giersbergen in their project The Gentle Storm, totally different vibe. Or the Human Equation album, the subject matter is of a psycholocal nature. Etc etc… Some suggestions regarding these 3 projects: Star One: from the live show Ayreon Universe the song Intergalactic Space Crusaders (use these words as search) The Gentle Storm: The Storm Anneke van Giersbergen Masters Of Rock (also live) The Human Equation: Day 11: love Ayreon Universe live. Really worth checking out! If not on camera do it privately!!!!

If I may suggest, Ayreon like Nightwish, Epica and more are best heard live. So if you want the ultimate Ayreon experience start with Ayreon Universe, a best of concert. Then I suggest you listen to Into the Electric Castle and other tales. But Electric Castle needs to be heard in order. At the end of the concert And Other Tales start, these are songs from the other Arjen concepts, also, Fish (Marillion) singing Kayleigh with a stellar performance from Damian Wilson (The Guilt Machine) singing Twisted Coil.

He did his first Ayreon reaction with a live one. Unfortunately a bootlegged version from 2023s concerts with poor sound and visuals. I concur your recommendation but like to add to stick to the official release videos… Most of the reactors only do „Everybody dies“, „Valley of the Queens“ and „The Eye of Ra“. There‘s so much more to watch from Ayreon/Star one…

I've seen this many times, but it was great watching it again with you! 👍🤘🤟 BTW, Arjen said in a recent interview that he's sick of this song, because it's so popular with reactors, and he watches all the reactions. So, chances are, he's either seen this already, or will soon, and I'm sure he'll be pleased.

The cool thing about Ayreon is that all the albums sort of tie into the same story. 'The Source' (the album which this song is from) is technically the start of the story. It's about a race of humans that give control of their planet to a computer (the 'frame) to help solve an environmental catastrophe, but the computer determines that the best course of action is to eliminate the humans. Ten humans and the robot TH-1 escape the planet on the only interstellar ship they have (the 'Starblade') along with the ships crew and head to an ocean planet. The chemist creates a drug ('The Source', aka 'Liquid Eternity') that allows them to evolve into an 'aquatic race'. The drug also makes them basically immortal and allows them to communicate telepathically. The album ends with the survivors (ten plus the ships small crew) living on their new planet ('Planet Y') in relative peace, but in the final track we learn that TH-1 is becoming a new version of the 'frame deep in the ocean. The next album in the timeline, 01011001 ('Y') tells us how machines have now taken over this new planet, and the humans have basically merged with the machines are losing their emotions and sense of time. They now call themselves 'The Forever', since they are essentially ageless drones at this point. We also learn about how they seeded a comet with DNA and sent it to Earth, where it creates human life on our planet. The Forever believe they can live through us telepathically and that they may regain their emotions by doing so. Some of The Forever believe that we need to advance more quickly, and use their telepathy to give us medicine/technology, but this results in us advancing quicker than our morality can cope with. Eventually The Forever realize humanity is doomed and has to decide if they will give them the technology to reverse their past mistakes. Somewhere in the timeline sits the album 'The Electric Castle'From a summary by Arjen: "At the end of the journey those that successfully dealt with their personal demons find out that the voice belongs to an alien named 'Forever of the Stars', a member of an alien race living in a distant galaxy. These aliens created planet Earth and its people as an experiment so they could study, and hopefully one day experience emotions, as they themselves lost feelings eons ago." That's only three albums (less than half!) but I believe those three give you a solid foundation for how the story plays out. Also, I highly recommend any of the Electric Castle Live videos; They are just so fun to watch, plus John de Lancie ('Q' from Star Trek) plays the 'Forever of the Stars' character, which Arjen said he originally based on Q.

This is not the final song. This is the first song on the album "the source". The whole album is an absolute masterpiece. If you are wondering where to go after this I'd suggest arguably one of Hansi's best performances Fiddler on the Green by Demons and Wizards. If you want to branch out a little further one of my absolute favourite singers is Matt Barlow when he was the lead singer for the band Iced Earth. His rendition of their song Dracula live from metal camp 2008 is a great intro to his vocals if you are unfamiliar. If you want a band that are just pure joy then Electric Callboy are outstanding. If you want an absolute marathon of a song there is Highlander by Lost Horizon. Probably one of the most absurd pieces of music created. In terms of absurd marathons The Glass Prison by Dream Theatre is another long arse but beautifully produced prog song.
@BemusingBill
@BemusingBill 9 месяцев назад
Thank you for that. Great information here. The only band I've heard that you mentioned is Iced Earth but I don't think I'm that familiar with them. This is a very big path of music and I am so grateful for all these discoveries.🤘🤘

@@BemusingBillThe lead guitarist for Iced Earth Jon Schaffer was also in Demons and Wizards with Hansi. Hansi has his own band Blind Guardian. Demons and Wizards split up because Jon Schaffer was involved in the insurrection and Hansi didn't feel he could continue the partnership because of how opposed their positions were.

it's a very bad thing to stop to write a reminder of yours, people want to see your reaction after the comments at the end of the song, but stopping not only makes it difficult but also useless, you risk commenting on something that immediately turns out to be the opposite
@BemusingBill
@BemusingBill 9 месяцев назад
What makes it difficult? You already know the song and have seen the video countless times. I'm here to react and comment on what I see and hear. That is how a reaction channel works. I suggest you watch other reactions especially the rappers when they try to figure out the 'bars'. I wrote down Toehinder so I could go find their stuff later, simple as that. I like taking risks.
