Alright been over a year and a half, video blew up (my family died in the explosion), gonna clear some stuff up (and not just the rubble) 1- some people have mistook the metal gear 1 aging poorly as metal gear solid rather than the first metal gear. Mgs1 has aged great imo 2- I believe portable ops to be canon, though many disagreed, that could’ve been worded better tbh 3- a lot more people have played mgrr since, radical Also if you read this you owe me £10
@@slickbait6791 I bought the game, and 10 minutes in I throw a giant bird robot into the orbit, it was at that exact moment I realized that it's the best game I've ever played
@@DarkWatcher149 I've heard rumors they're out there, I've yet to see one. I guess they're kind of like The Lochness Monster or Bigfoot or a unicorn who knows?
@@MOJAHED-XAN Not really a good reason to buy a PS3; sure I have two of them, but I know they have a tendency to fail with the YLOD. As one of mine already has. If you want to play the games get an emulator and play it on a PC. it's a safer bet and much cheaper, and accessible, to most. The console is cool, but not a good financial investment unless you're someone like AVGN who's career IS owning the actual hardware
@@cesxart i hated the boss battles, it forced me to grind for better equipment, besides that i had to resupply my ammo for multiple times during the fights
@@cesxart bad boss battles. Mini levels are understandable since its a psp game but its still pretty bad. Grindy. Too much of the game is built with coop in mind, like the infamous Torture scene, and some boss fights not having any single player health scaling. Also the story was not that good, boss ai and shit was unncessary.
-MGS fans explaining why Metal Gear Rising sucks and it's not canon (they didn't have play the game) -MGRR fans seeing the game is relevant again because the memes Or this one: -MGRR fans watching how ppl starts hate the game because there's no stealth anymore.
Peace Walker is also the most consistent throughout the play through as well IMO, so that certainly helps. But man, it's missing human boss fights that are staples in the series are the sole reason why PW can feels repetitive with no variance. Still 100% it myself though, it was really fun.
There's two categories of MGR fans : - Those who didn't played it, but understand the spirit. - Those who have played it, loved it, and received the message of our Prophet Monsoon.
A lot of people who played Rising today played it for the memes and ended up absolutely loving it. I am one of those people, and it even got me into the Solid games
Same. Literally the best 10 bucks I've ever spent on any game. Haven't finished the DLCs yet, but just the base games were enough to make me buy or *get by other means* all the main and canon games of the franchise (except MG1 and 2, because they both really aged too poorly for my taste).
Somehow I'm looking forwards to gatekeeper comments, that's gonna be super funny. There has to be at least 10 basement dwellers who don't believe MGSR fans matter because of the memes or whatever lmao. Sad.
Kojima be like:"Consistency? Not for me!"(I mean, that's the genius mastermind who made a mockery of a storyline by failing to retcon a plotpoint that had been solidified for two games in a row.)
@@lpfan4491 It really does feel like a supernatural moment at first, when Liquid speaks through Ocelot, which isn't too obscene considering other phenomena in the series but I assume Kojima felt it was easier to explain it as a "mental doppelganger" so he could go on to write a similar character (Venom) to inspire Ocelot to do the same down the line. Don't get me wrong, I like what we got in the end but the execution was far from perfect and I was always left wondering what it'd be like if Liquids pure hatred and determination could've persisted as its own meme in-universe.
@Schwoomy He changed his mind constantly. He switched between being indifferent, liking, hating, then liking again Snake´s Revenge over and over throught the years.
The best thing about MGSV for me is coming up with all the possible reasons that that game made konami fire Kojima. I like to think kojima promised he was going to put in in game purchases in order to green light one of the most expensive games ever made and they went ballistic when they realized he wasnt a monster willing to kill his baby with that crap.
@@superheriber27 yeah you're right but knowing what konamis business model was at the time Its pretty weird that mother base coins was the only thing, cause you didn't even have to buy them. I find it hard to believe they let kojima make that game when mother base coins was the only in game purchase. I could be wrong, I have some other theories about what got him fired
Good. Game producers need more people like you. They dream about consumers who don't ask for more and are satisfied by less. Because why produce meaningful, focused, charming experiences where every single hour of playtime can be remembered in detail when you can just make up two maps and make the player run around it to grind shit to exponentially increase playtime ? Or have an actually human protagonist who actually really talks to other characters and has conversations ? Instead of looking like a mute most of the time, with the thousand-yard stare ? Awesome, isn't he ? So *badaaaass* . Good.
Also based profile pic, I really enjoyed PW, the story was alright for me imo, idk why Snake kind of forgot as to why The Boss defected in the first place, if he did he should have been straight to the point with Strangelove. Finding Zadornov was a pain though...
I think Peace Walker genuinely had the potential to be the best game in the series if it just wasn’t a PSP game. Literally every problem I have with the game is caused by it being made for a portable console.
my favorite is Snake staring down a giant robot, the camera zooming in on his face, and then a fade to white saying "TO BE CONTINUED" because having a boss battle at the end of a mission instead of making the boss battle its own mission would be inconvenient for a 10 minute bus ride
@@Mate_Antal_Zoltan actually I like that part since it lets you change your loadout from the sneaking load out that you have in the prior mission to one more suited to a bossfight
MGS 3 fans trying not to tell everyone you can kill The End by fast forwarding your console's internal clock 2 weeks or when he's sitting on the docks ( literally impossible)
I'll never forget the times i played Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker on my PSP. That was an amazing game. The theme that played during Peace Walker and it's cry will always be beside me. Is it just me or do other people feel pained when it struggled to raise it's heavily-damaged body to stand while it makes strained shrills? That really made me feel bad, despite Peace Walker being my first MGS game. Didn't play MGS3 so i didn't know the attachment of Peace Walker.
@@enzomorales1 it's canon. With your logic PW and MGSV aren't canon either. MGSV STILL managed to contradict Gray Fox's speech to Snake since Big Boss at the time of Vietnamization was in a 9 year coma thanks to Skull Face and thus COULDN'T have saved him during that time. Oh, and apparently, if we go by the script and novelization, Psycho Mantis's mom and dad, ESPECIALLY his mom, were involved in selling off Mantis to the KGB for cash, resulting in him blowing up a plane in rage over this, in a complete and VERY blatant contradiction of Psycho Mantis's whole backstory where his mom died in childbirth and he accidentally went Carrie on his village when reading his dad's mind and learning his father hated him.). In fact, Venom Snake himself IS a walking contradiction since he was never alluded to even ONCE, not even on Big Boss's deathbed in MGS4. And don't get me started on Miller being so heavily rewritten in Peace Walker that there's literally NO way to reconcile it with his past characterization.
there are very few things I hate about it so far, those being some glitches in the ranking system in specific places and also SAM VR MISSION 4 SOMEONE HELP AAAAAAA (I'm brazillian and I am going to raid world marshal HQ)
peace walker is so good cause its what we always wanted. Everybody wanted to play as solid snake while he was in his prime, with up to date game mechanics, and save the world using stealth tactical action. While we didnt get solid snake, we got big boss, which is better imo, so yeah peace walker is my fav
Not enough peopel give the story of portable ops the credit it deserves. Gene was definitely one of the best Metal gear villians ever made. I know the gameplay aged poorly but i fell the story makes up enough for it
The story was straight shit the entire way through. Gene was nothing more than filler for a game that performed so poorly it made the series stay dormant until 2010
0:40 Absolutely true. I haven't played Ghost Babel, but anytime Ac!d comes up in conversation I get a hit of dopamine. If Konami wants to continue making Metal Gear games, they could go the Ac!d route, and do a spin-off series set in a different universe/timeline.
*cough* it was more or less what Survive did, as a matter of fact, the art director of Survive was the same as Ghost Babel, and the secondary main producer was the producer and secondary director of Acid 2, Survive's physical sales on PS4 also had around the same sales as ACID2 in Japan *cough* but I guess they got too niche on this one and lost some fans + the controversy (even if almost all spin off games got lacklusters receptions outside of MGRR) It's a shame Shinta Nojiri, who directed GB, ACID and ACID2, completely left the gaming industry after the poor reception of his game Neverdead. I've read he was a mobile phone salaryman now.
Shit I was so slick on acid with the cost reduction and double move cards I’d literally go for ever and have my decks reload again before the boss rush enemies would get a turn 2(as they always get a first turn) I felt like a god on that game after a certai point and I hope I am not alone in that aspect
I.m probably the only one here but I always thought Raiden was a well written and interesting character and the story and writing was emotionally griping I.m not ashamed to admit this but that scene where Hals sister died is heartbreaking.
Out of all the games, MGR was my favourite because I really loved the different Sword Slicing style with the fast action and awesome soundtracks. Also, Sam is my favorite character. But when MGS1 came out, It really introduced me as it is supposed to back then. MGS will stay as one of my classics, that I HAVE to replay every few years
MGS1 and 2 is the peak of the series for me, the gameplay of MGS is still good, and the dialogue/story is still enjoyable, Solid Snake will always be the real protagonist of the series, that was before Kojima started to let the series go off the rail with the Big Boss games.
@@leonardo25gabriel Yeah I really love MG, MGS1 and 2 aswell. But I have to say that I quickly became fond of MGR's combat style xD I have never played one of the fast, melee fighting games and I really loved the change and I never knew that I will like this kind in the future. I also wouldn't compare it too much with MGS since its just a spin-off. Expect differences compared to the MGS-Series
metal gear 1 fans: blank screen metal gear 2 fans when they find hairspray snatcher fans when theyre game gets recognized policenauts fans after they see women (saul in jail) mgs 1 fans when pyscho mantis (he reads your memory card) "mgs2 is trash cause of raiden" (clown make up) mgs2 fans comprehending the ending mgs 2 fans when someone is named ames or jennifer mgs3 fans when they have a poisonous animal (something involving throwing something at someone) mgs 2 haters when raikov (hes raiden) mgs3 fans when they cant use a menu to instantly mend their shattered legs and 3rd degree burns mgs4 fans explaining how liquid possessing ocelot by an arm isnt dumb mgs 4 fans trying to beat the B&B units with 1 hand
Well as you can see from my profile picture I am obviously a fan of mgs4. Liquid taking over ocelot was an event that took place through out mgs2 and in between 4 and 2 ocelot removed liquid’s arm and replaced it with a prosthetic. He basically did hypnotherapy on himself after removing liquids arm to convince himself he was liquid so that the patriot ai would plan against him as if they were making plans against liquid rather than ocelots personality which allowed him to outsmart them leading to the patriots destruction. Liquid was trying to take over ocelot through his arm in 2 and 4 makes you think that for the majority of the game, but he removed liquid’s arm before the events of 4 and did the whole hypnotherapy thing. And to be completely honest with you even though your joke here was inaccurate the real answer as to why he acted like liquid in 4 is even more stupid than the wrong answer you presented. In conclusion mgs4’s story is simultaneously deeply profound and stupidly fucking absurd and that’s why I love it.
as a MGSV fan the game seems finished enough idk why people say otherwise even if it isnt finished it's far more finished than any AAA game I've played in the past 3 years at launch
Metal gear rising took me away from a severe depression that I was experiencing at that time. I bought it about a year after it came out and it was at a discounted price, I can't believe it got some bad reviews just because of its graphics. The most epic music and battles I've ever played in a video game.
To be fair - MGSV is unfinished. Gameplay wise, it is absolutely perfect. The scenery is phenomenal, the mechanics are great. But the story is definitely incomplete. Exhibit A - Chico. Anyone that doesn’t get it, it is definitely worth looking up.
I like MGSV as it was my first MGS game, but after playing through the entire series and falling in love with Peace Walker, I just dislike how V ruined so much from that game. Chico just dying and never even being mentioned again sucks, and even worse was the concept art of him coming back as an adult who has clearly gone through some stuff would've fit the theme of the game and added emotional moments to the game, but we never got that either.
I played Ghost Babel. It was nice experience. It is like MGS1 in 2d. Aslo, original Metal Gear game was a banger, those electric floors, dogs chasing you, punching those POWs, Boss fights. Ah, memories.
So I've actually played rising to completion. It's a really fun game, of course, and the themes are there, but games like snake eater really delve so much deeper into the concept of "good and evil".
As a kid, I was exposed to the mg franchise thanks to my brother with mgs 4. Eventually, he got me mgr and I thought it was amazing. Then again, I was at the age where I didn’t understand big words. Now that I play it, I can see why it wasn’t so popular when it first came out, but I still think it’s an awesome game.
Playing metal gear rising as a kid was great. I understood nothing and just thought Raiden was the coolest character ever because he could ballet dance with a sword. I still stay by that opinion 🤣
You should've seen the stuff he did in MGS4. He took down two robots by breakdancing and using the wires that they latched onto him as a rope to throw them around. He also stopped an incredibly ginormous submarine from crushing Solid Snake immediately after slicing his own arm off to get unstuck from some debris. Later on he also fights squads of soldiers with no arms, first by summoning lighting (I still don't know how he did that indoors) and then by using his foot and mouth as a way to hold his sword.
@@DaGalaxyBoy No joke i literally just got the want to play the games again, i never ended up doing it last time cuz there was no available way for me to do it but with the recent remaster things i think i have a chance
@how7227 You definitely can play MGS1-3 with the Master Collection (and the 8-bit games but honestly you can skip those, they're kinda obnoxious). And if you have an Xbox, you can play Peace Walker HD rn, and the only game that you'll be missing from playing is MGS4 because that's still locked to the PS3.
MGS3 guy pulling a total power-move posing nude when you he stopped to change his clothes and redo his makeup every time he stepped on different terrain
@SnakeEater776 the game that you were praising was MGR (Metal Gear Rising). The game Kedilaa wants you to praise instead is MGS (Metal Gear Solid). I understand why the other guy wants you to prefer MGS more than MGR (personally, I think any MGS game can outbeat MGR) but you most likely never played any MGS game so makes sense you loved this one so much.
Moreso the entire argument as a whole. "It's intentionally unfinished in that they didn't want to make that DLC-mission that was meant to cap off a storythread, so it can't count as unfinished." "I think the postgame sucks, which is 100% on the game being rushed as opposed to just a bad designchoice." Because it can only be one extreme or the other.
