I love your channel because you can see things that a lot of others ignore. DC get the respect they deserve here. Yoohyeon bias here but your love of Gahyeon is so sweet, she really is adorable and a sub-rap queen!! The "Scream, scream scream" bit reminds my of symphonic metal, like Nightwish and I LOVE it. I loved it in the back of Deja Vu chorus and here too. Everything about Dreamcatcher blows my mind. I hate that most of Korea doesn't like rock... I think they'd do better in the west, like our rock scene. All the female fronted metal fans of bands like Nightwish, Within Temptation or even Evanescence - DC could scoop up so many of those fans if they were promoted here (and promoted properly) I so badly want them to do well and for people to see their talent. I guess all we can do is support them, buy their albums and vote. :( I have all four on the way as I type.

I tihnk it's very interesting to see Dreamcatcher succeeding where a bunch of modern rock bands (30STM/Muse) have failed. Mixing EDM and rock and still have a banger of a song.

Obviously this is a new story, I don't know if it's related to the Nightmare saga in any way but here's my theory about this new story: This is about the world turning evil and I think they will go through challenges to cleanse and save the world. The tree at the beginning is pretty safe to assume is Yggdrasil the tree of life in norse mythology (bunch of their photo teasers had norse/celtic inspiration, which I thought would be more present in the MV but I think it's still relevant). "Please I don't want to make you scream" turning into "I just want to make you scream" means they got corrupted as well, or at least whoever is talking. There's the thing with the gem, I think this will be a recuring object in future MVs, as of now I'm not sure if it represent greed which corrupts people and made them turn evil or it's something magical they need in order to save themselves and world and we see it as a side story beginning here and unfolding later on. EDIT: After rewatching I noticed at the very end they all leave the tree while wearing black hoods, all 6 of them, yeah, not 7 this time. I don't know how important this detail is but they might just all have become evil and this fits the whole corruption theory. But since we don't see the fake Handong in dark hood it's either a mistake or she's gonna be the chosen one to bring them back to the light in a future MV. That being said, I want more warrior SuA with the sword and everything and wtf this is amazing.

My husband and I are huge fans and stayed up until 1 am to watch it and have been mainlining the album. They are SO underrated and I've seen some really interesting videos on their history and factors that may be affecting their growth. But I loved your analysis of their sound, their evolution as musicians, and I agree completely that they already have, but will continue to grow their international appeal. Someone commented on another reaction video “finally Side Effects has someone to sit next to at lunch” and I thought that was an excellent observation. This is Side Effects goth sister. The last chorus we get synths instead of guitar which is nice. Gives it a more orchestral feel.

I agree. Scream had way less rock than I anticipated for a title track, but it's still awesome. Their style stands out so much that it's hard to understand how they aren't way bigger by now. I also think they are on the rise. Win or lose on music shows, they're gaining more and more fans every day and that's what matters. And yes, Gahyeon bias-wrecks everybody, it's inevitable. In my opinion the song starts with the girls sensing the damage done to the tree is affecting them, and them refusing to succumb to it like JIU "It's not funny at all", second part where you see it in affecting them and how the girls losing their "good" identity JIU " I don't know anything". The last part is when the evil took over them from "please i don't want to scream" to "I just wanna make you scream"

Also, the suit dance isn't a dance practice, it's a performance video. How amazing are they? The MV is captivating, but same, I have no idea what's going on. I love that they're still accounting for their missing member with a masked dancer. But in the suit dance showcase, the black mask was super creepy. I couldn't look away when she was on screen! I don't think it is the dance practice, but a showcase! The lyrics were inspired by the witch hunts from the middle ages. "those who throw stones at me", "on this burning fire" and "please I don't want to scream". I feel like they could also apply to the society of today. If you're not like the norm or like most people you're judged, cast out and sometimes even hurt. That makes me love the "I just wanna make you scream" even more, the message of fighting back and not letting others bring you down.

For the story, it’s about witch hunt, but it suits modern days too. Where they use verbal attack “bad words” to hurt others. The victim who is innocent (Jiu’s line), they don’t know why they’re being attacked and “Please I don’t want to scream”. In the end the devil come and “I just wanna make you scream” “No more no more” I think it means they’re finally breakouts of it.

Also the change in the lyrics about Not Wanting To Scream to I Want to Make You Scream, if you Took Notice of The Title Text at the Beginning of the M about People Forgot How To Say Kind (Nice) Words , the Room with the Red Computer Data Type Room, and Examine the Lyrics about Cloud of Smoke, Words Hurt Like a Knife, Random Target of Hate, Who Is This For, The Masks as being symbols of Hiding behind a Facade or Mask or Computer Screen, it is easy to see this song has a strong underlying message regarding Malicious Hate Comments and Social Media.

I have my own personal thoughts about the symbolism and lyrics of this video. First of all, this group is amazing!! I'm a new Insomnia for sure. okay here's what I interpreted after watching the video multiple times. I think the lyrics are talking about how words hurt people and how it has serious consequences in people's lives. The mask Gahyeon was holding in her rap part conveys the idea that all of the haters online are nothing but "freaks". They hide behind the very small "mask" of a profile picture emitting hurtful lies, gossip, criticism, threats, and other demeaning things to people. I'm not exactly sure what the line "Please, I don't want to scream" means other than a cry from the heart to antis and haters to stop cyber bullying because it's overwhelming to the point where it makes you scream. The tree might represent the hate and animosity from people The part where it says "Devil eyes come- I open my eyes" may be referring to the fact that the silent and literal stares from haters and malicious comments are very much like the devil's? Maybe? Perhaps "I open my eyes" means when you open your eyes to reality of the negativity and constant hardship of not being good enough for people. It may also mean that now "you" are seeing things in a negative perspective and even yourself because you're so used to that type of behavior in others. Although the previous is unlikely because towards the end of the song their kind of an epiphany if you will. The whole reference of having "your hands tied up" and not being able to "escape" might very well address the helplessness in many idols who reach out for their respective companies and they don't do anything or pretend to help the artists...but not really. When SuA is wearing the white veil in the bridge of the song, she mentions the disappearance of people's faces and traces is very deep and meaningful. Then, the lyrics continue to say "can't believe me". This phrase can mean SO many things like for example "they don't believe I'm going through this constant bullying" or the self reflect of wow...I did something irreparable to myself...I can't believe me. "I can't believe I did this to myself". It's dark dark, but true. I mean, I took away that this may be an interpretation as to how someone may "think" after they decide to end it all...although we will never know. The part where it says "Don't be sad no more-For me no more" maybe talking about what the person who ended it all may want to say the others they left behind. "Don't be sad, because I'm not hurting anymore from this hate." This interpretation made me cry and so sad. Then the lyrics continue to say in the form of ironic criticism to society: "Forget everything you saw-Believe that nothing happened- Like that one by one everyone goes crazy". Isn't this what many people tend to overlook after some time the person has passed away? An idol or another famous person ends their life tragically and then society ignores completely the reality of stalkers, haters, and threats that are mostly left unattended? I think this is very telling. The last part where it says: "I just want to make you scream" possibly means how they want the haters to scream out of frustration once they've realized that their words and schemes are ruined by justice. This is just my interpretation of this deep and powerful song. What a brave thing to do to speak about cyber bullying especially in a girl group!

Ok so what I gather from the lyrics and the video is that this is about witch hunts. The the lyrics mention stoning, the devil, hands tied, etc. the change from “I don’t want to scream” to “I just wanna make you scream” seems to be a reference to how the hysteria of the witch trials (such as the one in Salem) spread rapidly causing people to go from the accused to the accuser. Also, the tree that comes up in the video could be a reference to the hanging tree. When yoohyeon says “tell me why I don’t lie” she is referencing the fact that the ones who were accused of witchcraft often had two choices: confess to be working with the devil and live, or plead innocent and be hanged. Some chose to lie and give a false confession, so in this line she’s saying that she doesn’t understand why she doesn’t just lie so that she can live. When Sua says “on the burning fire” she is referencing the witch hunts in Europe where they used burning at the stake instead of hanging. When Gahyeon mentions a “random target” she is referencing the fact that the accused where chosen indiscriminately. Lastly when Dami says “forget everything you saw” she is referencing the fact that the witch trials in history had been forgotten for years and years. No one talked about it basically until the 1950s when The Crucible was written. Ok that’s all for now. Is this a stretch? Maybe lmao. Hope this helped though!

hi, im a baby somnia, i just recently stan them💞 its unacceptable how ive been sleeping on this gg 😔

(this turned out longer than i thought it was gonna be) the choreo and lyrics remind me a lot of the salem witch trials. the lyrics are filled with lines like "this numb feeling from tied hands," "everyone throws a stone at me," "on the burning fire," and "ridiculous freak." gahyeon's and dami's raps give feelings of hopelessness, giving off the feeling that no matter what they do, nobody will believe them. 5:06 in the choreo shows gahyeon with fingers being pointed at her, and also reminds me of how witches were chosen nearly at "random" (which is also in gahyeon's rap verse) and then blamed by everyone. unlike the witch trials though, i think that dc's new story involves actual witches (or something along those lines), and this mv could be showing the birth of a witch through the torment of the people around her and the influence of a "devil." the first two choruses are "please i don't want to scream," and this could be when the girl is still a human being persecuted for something she didn't do. then the final chorus comes in with "i just want to make you scream," with the prechorus coming in with "don't be sad for me no more," and it could be the awakening of the witch(?) as she opens the devil's eyes once more and is now imbued with a dark power. the story spoiler sort of reflects this as well. i don't speak kr, so i used google translate, but the words that are scripted in the story spoiler go from positive words like "i love you," and "thank you," to negative ones like "revenge," "death," and "devil." at the same time, the girl in the spoiler goes from white to black, which can represent the dark power now being inside of her. there are six other girls in the story spoiler, likely representing the (active) members of dc, so the girl turning evil is someone else... or maybe something else. the mv and story spoiler have a similar scene of a white-clad figure and a black-clad figure facing off, with the white-clad figure quickly disappearing. this probably is the point where the evil takes over, and it's a possibility that the mystery girl in the story spoiler is the "devil" that is influencing dc right now. i can't make up my mind between the mystery girl being an actual being or just a metaphor for one, so i think the mystery girl is either the "devil," or she's a representation of the darkness that is "born from a growing hatred" (the latter of which can be supported by the sudden change of the mystery girl in the story spoiler as the only thing that changes between her being evil and not are the negative words coming from sphere in her hands). i've also thought of the idea that the girl is actually two separate entities, but the dark version takes over the light version. with the album being titled "dystopia," and the opposite of that being "utopia," it's possible that the girls create these worlds--dystopias and utopias. but one day, the dark version completely takes over, and as a result, there are only dystopias. this will then lead to the beginning of the story in which dc have to figure out how to restore order and bring back the light version to balance out the creation of the dystopias. i also just watched dc's live stage on arirang/simply kpop, and the description of the song states that the story is a motif of witch hunts. so not an actual story of witches, but it has the same elements.

My interpretation is that at first they deal with others being bad to them Hence the "please, I don't want to scream" And then they get fed up and "take revenge" or at least think about it hence the "I just want to make you scream" and "devil eyes come" etc Maybe that's just projection on my part though But you're right, they're so amazing and I love them
