Installing Eave Trim At A Corner
•Start on the left side of the roof
•Remove the protective plastic film from the eave trim.
•Run the eave trim one inch past the edge of the roof.
•Take your carpenters pencil and mark the underside of the eave trim by tracing the fascia and gable board. The line you created is the bend line.
•Use your snips and cut the center of the eave trim until you get to the bend line.
•Cut away the top part of the eave trim that sits on top of the roof.
•Remove the hem by making a 45 degree angled cut to the bend line. This will allow the eave trim to meet up with the gable trim and have a clean mitered corner.
•User your hand seamer to bend the remaining edge upwards.
•Install the drip edge on the roof so that the piece that you bent with the seamer tool folds around the corner.
Overlapping Two Pieces Of Eave Trim On A Metal Roof
•Notch eave trim by removing three inches of the drip edge hem.
This allows it to slide into the next piece of eave trim.
The purpose is to create a secure fit on the fascia that will not blow around in the wind.
•Apply caulking where the eave flashing will overlap
•Install the second piece of eave trim by taking a screwdriver and slightly opening the hem.
•Then slide the second piece of eave trim into the first piece.
Fastening Eave Trim On A Metal Roof
•Use a 1” metal to wood pancake head screw to fasten the top of the eave trim to the metal roof.
•The screw spacing is one screw located at 8" from each end of the eave flashing. In between both ends of the eave flashing the screws should be spaced at 12" OC center.

do people ever put underlayment on plywood decking and then Perlins on top of that? and is this flashing the same on the top edge slope of a skallion roof?

I used felt paper on decking and purlins over paper.. most of these videos don't use purlins as such under metal roof, but our local code enforcment requires them but not underlayment...? I wanted the felt paper under roof.. plus whilst I finished the rest of the roof, overhangs, soffit and other stuff it kept the water off decking..

The underlayment manufacturer recommends flashing on wood then underlayment to edge of flashing ?

I've watched this a couple times, and I can't figure out a reason why you would use a screwdriver to spread the bottom lip? Because you seem to be cutting away any material (1/8" from kickout) that might fit into that lip. I would think that you either don't bother with spreading the lip with a screwdriver, or you only remove material 1/8" from the bottom lip on the joining piece. That way you actually have an interlock of material. I guess it depends on what size the "kickout" is? If the kickout is 1/4", then 1/8" makes sense. If the kickout is 1/2", then only leaving 1/8" is removing too much material.

Well, I cut away two inches of material on the left piece, spread the hem on the other piece apart a bit, then slide the first piece into the second about one inch. One is sorta locked into the other. Does that make sense? There's a three inch overlap but the drip edge slides in about one inch. The video didn't show that but I THINK my way is the correct way.
