Delirious Nomad is one of the most underrated albums ever. I don't understand the dislike. I found this on cassette when I was fifteen and it took me away from a world of missing my recently deceased father and the hate I had for the world. I'll forever be grateful for that album.
Delirious Nomad - to me- is about as perfect a metal album was made. There isn't a single filler track and the songs are deep AF, especially considering what was out at the time. It's criminally overlooked when discussing the metal movement of the 80s. Raising Fear was great, but they set the bar so high with DN, it didn't carry as much weight and consistency. RIP, Dave Pritchard.
He’s okay... but when it comes to Anthrax Joey will always be the best vocalist of Anthrax - read my main comment if you are interested and reply if need be , but do so in a respectful manner. Cheers from the land Downunder.
@@dragonqueen6589 I was an Anthrax fan even before Joey came along and I have to admit that the classic line up has always been the best to see live. I went to see Anthrax in the 80s, 90s, 00s and 10s. My first was when they opened for Metallica in Dublin Ireland in 1986 and I was there as an Anthrax fan. However, this may seem strange but the album I've listened to the most is The Sound of White Noise. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but saying that Bush is merely an okay singer is harsh. The guy is a fantastic singer and his influence on Anthrax was excellent in terms of how they wrote.
@@tonytendencies4698 So you think he’s better than Joey, oh alright ……… what other bands do you think are underrated I guess it’s a little off-topic but there’s a long, long list for me,……
@@dragonqueen6589 I didn't say Bush was a better singer than Belladona and I'm not saying Belladona is better either. I implied that Bush is a fantastic singer and that his time with Anthrax produced some amazing albums. I was lucky enough to see Anthrax 8 times when they came to Ireland and a few more overseas and the best of those gigs was in 1989. They are one of my all time favourite bands and I appreciate the Bush era too. I've always been an East coast metal fan of bands like Nuclear Assault who were moderately succesful and Overkill who were succesful as well as Ian's side project S.O.D. and the associated M.O.D. (all of whom don't get the recognition they diserve).
I don't care what anyone says, "Sound of White Noise" is the best album Antrax ever put out and John Bush is a big reason why. He's an amazing metal singer (not just vocalist).
"We Come For You All" is the best Bush era Anthrax album. In my opinion, it started their comback which was followed by "Worship Music " and "For All Kings. "
other than their very first album, the only Anthrax albums worth listening to, are the ones with John singing. he somehow made the other members of the band step up their game and created fantastic albums!
I've known about the band since I was 16, now I'm 41 and they're still in my top 5 bands, no regrets, just pure, authentic, unpretentious American Metal at it's finest.
These guys are severely underrated. It makes so much more sense when you hear the story of their early record labels. I never understood why this band wasnt way bigger than it was, now I know why. Symbol of Salvation is a masterpiece.
John Bush has always been my favorite singer. I can still remember how blown away I was the first time I heard Can U Deliver, such a masterpiece. Symbol of Salvation, to me, is the only album that could ever stand next to Metallicas Master of Puppets, both are absolute musical perfection, from start to finish. The music John made with Anthrax is far and away better than the stuff they did with Joey, but I do still very much enjoy the Joey era Anthrax. Songs like Hy Pro Glo and Invisible are such good songs, not to mention the entire We've Come for You All album, another album that has no bad song. Long live The Saint!!!
About a year ago I heard "Reign of Fire" and "Last Train Home" back to back late one night while wasting time on RU-vid before heading off to bed. I was blown away. I thought, "Why haven't I ever heard these guys? They've been one of my all-time favorite bands ever since.
probably my fave band of all time. got to see them open for lynch mob and Dio. I remember John jumping off stage to break up a fight between 2 drunks. myself and another guy held him back as security got there to kick them out. I told him this wasn't the way I wanted to meet him and he grinned and lightly hit my shoulder a couple times and we got him back on stage. that night rocked and they are such a great band
had a pleasure meeting dave at a guitar clinic in La Habra CA before he passed had no i idea at the the time he was in armored saint i had heard of them at the time but never heard their tunes he actually introduced himself to my bro my friend and me way cool guy Bruce bouillet from racer x was doing guitar clinic he even signed my ozzy shirt i had on and i still have the shirt
Been rocking with the Saint since the early 80s, and they still routinely show up on my playlist. They never gained the popularity that they deserved, but I’ll always hold them in very high regard !
I went to Pasadena city college with these guys. Dave Prichard was the sweetest guy I have ever met. So kind, so patient, he liked jango Reinhardt then. Probably where he got some skills. Also John bush was a friend who used to say” I did a new recording last night, wanna hear it?” And we would listen to the cassette in my truck. They all were cool nice guys. Very honest and real. Good guys❤
As a Metal Snob, I never would have gotten into them until John Bush sang on Sound if White Noise which is one of my top Metal Albums of all time. The thing with Anthrax and the 2 lead singers is like Van Halen with David and Sammy each singer made Anthrax almost different bands. The Best of Both Worlds though was outright totally metal badassery!
SOWN is such a good album, the song Invisible really stands out to me. I have always thought the exact same thing, whether Anthrax or Van Halen, their music was so different once they changed singers it was like getting different bands out of the deal. I love both eras of both bands, but if I had to pick one as a favorite it would be the Bush fronted Anthrax. Everything they ever did with him singing is absolutely amazing, though it took Vol 8 a bit of time to grow on me. We've Come for You All is one of my all time favorite albums.
Symbol of Salvation is one of my favorite albums ever. And hearing what the band had to go through before, it even makes more sense now why they suddenly produced such an incredible record!
Thank you for doing this, this band is overlooked and not meaning that in a bad way but this is an example if when you dig you find some surprising good songs and they have been consistent
i traded a metal head buddy of mine 2.5 gs of weed back in 2013 for two of these albums still sealed , march of the saint and raising fear. i loved the back artwork on march of the saint them and the motorcycles!
I only saw Anthrax once with John singing back in 98 and it was one of the best live shows I've ever been to. I would pay top dollar to see a set with Joey singing and John getting to do at least five or six of their best songs from his time in the band. Both eras of Anthrax are great.
I know being a fan of both errors of ANTHRAX. It definitely would be amazing.. And I can compare it to. Just from what he said in his quotes. Yeah he's legit.. Wolfgang Van Halen was trying to convince his father Eddie Van Halen to do a kitchen sink tour.. With DAVID LEE ROTH SAMMY HAGAR AND GARY CHERONE.. All singing all of VAN HALEN'S hits and deep cuts.. Any statements from Michael Anthony is definitely true.. But tragically never happened.. RIP EDDIE VAN HALEN.. But seriously Van Halen fans would have been going ape s***.. And ANTHRAX has a chance to do this. To make the dream possible for all the fans of ANTHRAX.
Dave Prichard was just an absolute monster guitarist and songwriter, I guess because of his contributions Raising Fear is my personal favorite Armored Saint album. Though some tracks do outshine others, and it did take a little while to grow on me. That’s probably a double edged sword for Saint though, as solid as their subsequent albums are, I’m always a bit depressed that Dave is gone.
I've once watched thier historical VHS video which comments Dave Prichard has been playing his guitar on live show just before the day of his death. We've lost great gutty guy! R.I.P Dave...
Jon Bush is one of my favorite vocalists, EVER. Whether he's with Saint, or Anthrax, great shit, man. Edit:They really should re-record Raising Fear, because it had some fantastic songs on it. Human Vulture being a personal fave of mine. Out on a Limb, Chemical Euphoria, Crisis of Life, just so much good stuff there that deserves better production.
I am embarrassed to say, but I didn’t know much about these guys until I watched this. Love their sound!!! I think I will check out some of their other stuff. Thanks for the great video!!!
Right? I bought Symbol of Salvation without knowing any Armored Saint stuff and loved it, especially Last Train Home. I was surprised to find out they had so few albums.
I triple dog dare anyone to not get drawn in hook, line and sinker when the opening of Can U Deliver cranks. What an epic intro and that March album is my fave Saint release. No love for Delirious Nomad? Shame, great record and from Raising Fear Chemical Euphoria is a an absolute banger. Got to see AS opening for Metallica back when AS was supporting the March album and what a show that was.
and damn shame he didn''t mention "Bandit Country" off of La Raza. That song is just so different for them it really stands out and grabs you by the throat. Fucking love it.
One of the best metal bands from their time-PERIOD ! It's hard to be consistent on every album when there's stresses from life intertwined throughout the process. ANY great band experience-wise can tell you that. AS is no different. Losing their bro to leukemia was really hard on them. Cancer is always hard ! I know. They made a difference in the genre and didn't get the credit they deserved. Great band !
I remember the days when I worked overnight at Walmart, and having the "Symbol of Salvation" album on Spotify as one of the albums to get me through the night.
As an LA native of Highland Park, and a die hard metalhead. I always had an admiration for Armored Saint, just due to the fact they were really close to home, being Pasadena, South Pasadena, and El Sereno areas of LA. Looking at the early photo, it looks like the San Rafael Ave bridge in SOuth Pasadena, going over the Arroyo Seco. Metal Rules!
One of my more favorite metal bands! Thanks for doing this video! Loved them since their first album came out when I was a teen. Was robbed of the chance to see them open for my favorite metal band, Saxon, in Michigan, when my girlfriend T-boned a car on her motorcycle and busted herself up badly. It was the day before I was to take off to Michigan from near Toronto Ontario, see the band with an American buddy, then tour around on my bike in the U.P. of Michigan for a couple days. Couldn't really live with myself taking off as she lay there in a hospital bed with multiple pelvic fractures. Thankfully, she recovered a few months later. Rock On and live life while you can as you never know when it can change in an instant!
One of my absolute favorite Metal bands. I saw the video for “Can You Deliver” in 84ish and was turned out. The riff in that song is genius. Mandatory.....
Joey Vera is an incredible bass player! I love his playing! I’ve been playing drums for 42 years and have been playing bass in a band the past year! And I listen to a lot of Joey!!!!
I found Armored Saint in 91 with the Reign of Fire and in the 30 years since it’s never been forgotten, always been in my mix tapes, burnt cd’s, iPods and now playlists. Recently I found Symbol of Salvation on vinyl. Haven’t really had the chance to check out the rest of their stuff but I’m going to try to catch it now.
I first got into these guys back in 1989 or so. I love Delirious Nomad. Of their Chrysalis years, it definitely captured them at their best. Symbol, of course, is their finest album and I loved it upon release. I have been very happy that they occasionally get together, record some great songs and make albums when they feel like it. They deserve more attention. Also, Joey Vera has always been the secret weapon of that band. His basslines are fantastic throughout their entire existence.
I love your channel. These vids are a ton of fun to watch. I played the hell out of Symbol of Salvation when it came out. It's definitely my favorite of their catalogue. I think most would agree.
One of my favorite bands. I think Revelation is a great comeback album. I picked it up along with Halford's self titled CD. Two stellar CD's I picked up that day.
Armored Saint is one of my favorite bands. Dave Pritchard is one of my favorite guitar players. They have not sounded the same since Dave passed away. He gave them more of a British heavy metal sound. Symnbol of Salvation was the last solid album they had. The newer ones just were lacking in some way.
I bought "Raising Fear" in vinyl, around early 1989, 1st LP of them I bought, and I loved it. Song Legacy was my favorite. I knew I had to buy the previous LPs , so I bought them in the next year. And when Symbol of Salvation came out in 1991, I got that too. But I did not get their later LPs. I was more into Fates Warning in the 90ies.
Symbol of Salvation was my first and only purchase from the Armored Saint catalog. Based upon this video though? I'm gonna check out a few others. Well done!
While always being a Belladonna Anthrax fan . At the time when Bush joined for Sound of White Noise , i was on board . I still love that record . While it didnt sound like the Anthrax i grew up with , It was a different time . Sounded fresh . Now ? im glad Joey is back with em . But Bush is a great singer for sure !!
Binge watching your vids mate. As an old school metal head from way back lol, I'm loving the home work part nice way to get your audience involved well done. It gives me a reason to go back and listen to all the albums that got me into metal and all the obscure ones that didn't get the attention they deserved at the time. Cheers
Bought March of the Saint on cassette never having heard it. Awesome! My favorite tune was 'Glory Hunter" Saw them live years later with Dave Pritchard as the lone gunslinger. He was unbelievable, flawless.
Symbol of Salvation is where I found Armored Saint. I played the wheels off of the cassette. Some of my buddies got into it a little, but I was the one in my circle that loved them.
"Symbol of Salvation" was my introduction to Armored Saint, I still have the CD from when I originally bought it. I bought the new album on vinyl late last year, it's not bad. I give it a spin every so often. Last month I pre-ordered the re-release vinyl edition of "Symbol" and their new "Symbol..." Live album that is coming out at the same time later this month...
For some reason, watching this awesome video and listen to the awesome songs, thought of a new poem - "Rack up points, a bridge will flow, everyone has, an afro below."
Sadly Phil was cracked out during his leave of absence and skated by as a bike messenger here in San Francisco...For awhile (a few months) he was sadly sleeping on people's floors. NOW..That is all in the long past. He moves back to LA straightened up a bit and The Saint let him back in and they started up a new plan for recording. Hail The Saint! I disagree with the production being too slick for the 1st LP..I LOVE IT...Great video \m/
Yep, John Bush has always been killer, and I think the band stands out as one of the many that made me fall in love with a round, sonic guitar tone. Love this channel.
Would b great to see them at rocklahoma in pryor Oklahoma. Grew up listening to them since the late eighties (that was when I started listening to metal more. Remember hearing them on metalshop radio show in early 90's.)
