Wait, I'm just starting watching now - you're a metal vocalist and you've NEVER listened to Rammstein?! They're such legends! Better later than never! haha 😆
I've seen them live twice and it is exactly like that. The first explosion of the gig was so loud it could be heard 9 miles away. The best live band ever.
You ain't heard and seen nothing yet when it comes to Rammstein! Their live shows are as epic as their music videos, so it's worth checking out both for sure! For more live you could do "Ich tu dir weh" live at Madison Square Garden Official video: "Mein Herz brennt" there's an original and Piano Version. Do both 👌😉
Greetings from Germany 😊 👍🏻 A few psycho fame girls try to destroy Ramstein right now and use the „me too“-Zeitgeist. It is so weired, but they won‘t succeed. Ramstein, stay strong. 👍🏻❤️
The lyrics "du hast, du hast, du hast mich" is translated to "you have/hate me" as the german hast (have) and hasst (hate) are very close in prononciation. The lyrics is a marriage proposal which gets regected. A nice combination of the marching sounds, as it suggests that marriage is some kind of duty.
Hell ! When the singer appears on stage and don't need to sing cauze the crowd does (in a foreign language !) . . . you know you made it ! ! ! PS: look this song's version from Madison Square Garden in Big Apple . . . the FDNY allowed fireworks ! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-f3GY86rxEMU.html Till is an approved pyrotechnician and he knows what he's doin
For all the Engliah speaking people: "Du hast" is the beginning of a sentence, like "Du hast mich gefragt...". (You have asked me...) But pronouncing the same: "Du hasst", especially with the "Du hasst mich" part means "You hate (me)." Rammstein (btw. more like shine with a t inbetween: sh and t ;) does such things in a lot of songs. Not even Germans get that at the first try. Or the second. Or ever. It is lastly up to you, to interpret that.
If you love great bands with amazing crowd interactions I have 2 that blow your mind: 1. Sabaton - En Livstied I Krig [Great Tour Live] (make sure to turn subtitles on, since it's in Swedish) 2. Megadeth - Symphony Of Destruction [Live in Argentina]
@@itsamee3897 for real. I mean, they have been internationally loved since 1997. But f the charts and all that, any real fan of metal should know who tf Rammstein are 🤣 I couldnt believe this guy never heard of Rammstein
@@itsamee3897 this would be like a "Classic Hip Hop Fan" not knowing who the Wu-Tang Clan are...or a fan of drummers not knowing Dave Grohl played drums. It's insane
My best memory of a concert with them, was in Denmark, where we were all waiting for them to start the show. Everything suddently went dark, and the band walked in, single file, THROUGH THE CROWD, with the front man carrying a single torch. Everyone just made room for them, without any security of any kind. The got up on some sort of bridge, that lifted them up level to the stage, and the show started. I get chills just thinking about it still.
Denmark can take the noble credit of being one of-probably-only a few countries on Earth that a Deus-tier band like Rammstein could "risk" walking through a crowd even as large as ⅒ of the population *sans security* and essentially take for granted that not only will their entire trek very likely stay incident-free, the trust implicit in their action would surely be acknowledged by the crowd, and the resulting appreciation for the privilege of being granted such an unfiltered experience would be palpable among such a majority of concert-goers that it would practically encompass the beloved band and essentially double as a highly effective form of security itself †
I'm still not sure this isn't an April Fool's joke. You've never listened to Rammstein?! Goodness. One of my top 5 greatest voices in metal right here. I hope you react to more of them. As I'm sure someone has already mentioned, if you like pyro, you've come to the right place.
Saw their show in LA last September...... the pyro was bigger and better.... the first tour of the US that they brought their full show production.... check out their live shows from 2022.... they only booked dates in the cities that allowed them to do the pyro..... "no pyro, no show"..... it was absolutely incredible, and the heat from the pyro was intense.
The lead singer got his own pyrotechnincs licence and he is aso advanced on it that he is allowed to make his own fireworks. Part of the "sweat" on their bodies is a flame-retardant gel.
This band exists official since 1994 and they have the same line up ever since. Their names are: Till Lindemann (vocalist, lyricist and licensed pyrotecnition, that is why they can do what they do at life performances). There is an old interview with him from 1998 were he explains a little bit of it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-uUkjov1tbAY.html He als has his side projects called "Lindemann" with Peter Tägtgren from Hypocrisy and Pain and in his youth he was a swimmer and almost at the Olympic Games in 1980, but due to an injury he had to give it up. Since 4th of January 2023 he is 60. Richard Z. I don't think he personally sets everything up before every show, Im pretty sure they have roadies that do that, but he does plan do the design and planning for all the pyro
It's nine in the morning here in Germany right now. So you loaded this up at one in the morning German time. You will have the german Rammstein fans commenting and swamping you with suggestions in no time now we are up😊
Amazing live preformers one of the best shows I've ever seen .. an pyro is a standard for them. The lead singer is a licensed pyrotechnic and if I remember correctly so are two other band members.. I'm always watching to see when I can catch them live again worth every penny
And that one was inside so they had to downgrade it a bit. The next one in Paris will be outside, in the Stade de France. They usually use around a metric ton of fuel for each concert.
@@RaXXha I think they have to call in the fire brigade in every city. Although nothing has ever happened. In the beginning, there was a small accident in Germany. 😂
They're saying/singing "du (you)" "du hast (you have)" "du hast mich, du hast mich gefragt (you have asked me)" "und ich hab nichts gesagt (and I have said nothing)" "Willst du bis der Tod euch scheidet treu ihr sein für alle Tage? (Do you want, until death do you part, be faithful to her every day?)" "Nein (no)" "Willst du, bis zum Tod der Scheide, sie lieben auch in schlechten Tagen? (Do you want, to the death that parts, love her even on bad days?)" - - > technically the first part of this line can also mean "until the death of the vagina" if you want to interpret it that way or see it as a pun... the line has several legit translations "Nein (no)" Additional note: "du hast mich (gefragt) (you have (asked) me)" phonetically almost sounds like "du hasst mich (you hate me)" as well, and I think that's an intentional pun too
@@user-fu3hi3lj3w the line can have several different meanings, depending on the grammar, the commas and other factors... I haven't seen an official version of the lyrics by Rammstein and the internet gave me different versions of those factors and I went with the one that I personally like best lol... I know they often have lewd lyrics but in this case the lewd meaning doesn't make a lot of sense to me context wise, it frankly seems like a rather odd interpretation to me, not the first thing coming to my mind... I can make an edit though since it can technically count as a pun
Beside the absolutely driving beat and the pyrotechnics, Rammstein's lyrics are deep and play on the German language. The lyrics of this song use wordplay (things that sound the same but have different meanings) and satire to expose the way that marriage vows can sometimes end up turning into possession, confrontation, hate or indifference or paralysis and inability to answer. The intial lyrics are: Du = You Du hast (du hasst) = You have (you hate) Du hast mich (du hasst mich) = You have me (you hate me) Du hast mich gefragt = You asked me Und ich habe nichts gesagt = And I said nothing
@gracestarcevich9867 Maybe your mum hasn't heard of the spelling reform of the 1990s. Since then the letter ß is only used in writing after a long vowel, not a short one. Tell her to look up " Neue Deutsche Rechtscreibung". But in any case, whether "haßt" or "hasst", the word is pronounced exactly the same as "hast". They are homophones. Without context you do not know which of the meanings is meant. PS: Though not born in Germany, I'm a naturalised citizen. I've lived in Germany for 44 years and been speaking German for 52 years. Germans think I'm a native speaker. Ask your mum to actually listen to the meaning behind the song.
Lead singer til and I believe a couppe other bandmates all became certified as pytrotechnicians after they had their first time using fireworks and pyrotechnics and using another company doing the pyro configuration and they got hurt and it was a disaster. So they do it themselves so its amazing :)
Rammstein have no problem with live performances (obviously!), and when it comes to what is allowed and what is not allowed, it is best to watch the live performance of BENZIN.
What’s so amazing about that? The song is in German. If they were singing in Spanish the crowd would be singing in Spanish. The lyric is not that complicated.
@@europainvicta3907 Perhaps you're unaware of the historical animosity between France and Germany especially during WW2. There has been a lot of hatred towards Germany by the French. Many years of German-Nazi occupation failed to force the French to speak German but a few minutes of Rammstein achieved this. And the French hate to speak anything but French anyway..in general.
@@europainvicta3907 The point is that a horde of French people, who consider their language to be the non plus ultra and are not prepared to speak to tourists in another language, bawl in German, "Du has(s)t". «You have» / «You hate»
@JohnReavesLive you should react to more of their songs. It's a German band, with deep lyrics that reflect on several areas. They don't dance but the shows are always fantastic. I love your BTS reactions and I think you'll really like Rammstein.
Oh John... Seriously, it's freaking Rammstein (pronounced ram-shtain)! They've been around for ages 😂 If you liked fire I suggest Feuer Frei, for more emotional experience for example Mutter. They are from Germany so if you find vids with subbs, go for that. It's so awesome when someone discovers a band that's been around for a long time and they get to experience all their work from scratch (like BTS or One Ok Rock 😉💜). I hope you'll enjoy the experience. As usual thanks for your reaction 😊
Welcome to the Rammstein World! No Fire in America? 😂 Watch: Rammstein with „Benzin“ live From Madison Square Garden!! Or „Engel“ From the Same Concert! Greetings From Germany!
They also played this song in Madison Square Garden (NY) including pyro (just a bit less extreme). Wanna know what the lyrics are about? The first three words are "Du hast mich" (you have me) which at that moment doesn't make any sense in German. But it sounds (intentionally) the same as "Du hasst mich" (you hate me). Later in the song, the first three words are extended to a full sentence: "Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt." (You asked me and I did not answer.) And then, to show what he was asked, the chorus is a wedding vow: "Willst Du bis der Tod euch scheidet treu ihr sein für alle Tage?" (Do you want to be faithful to her for all days until death do us part?) This is answered first by a kind of female voice "Ja" (yes) and afterwards by Till's harsh voice "Nein!" (No!). These - plus a slightly obscene word play on the wedding vow, that I will not explain here - are the whole lyrics (repeated a few times). What videos to watch from Rammstein? I have a "few" suggestions. If you want to see their (incredible) live performances I would suggest (in this sequence) Rammlied (live from Madison Square Garden) Engel (live from Madison Square Garden) Sonne (live at Rock im Park 2017) Links 2 3 4 (live from Madison Square Garden) Ich will (live from Hurricane Festival 2016) Ich tu dir weh (live from Madison Square Garden) (don't take the lyrics too serious) Mein Teil (live at Hurricane Festival 2013) Amazing official videos Sonne (Sun) heavy, screwed up fairy-tale Links 2 3 4 (left) partly heavy march Ich will (I want) heavy, simple, way to celebrity Spring! (Jump!) (fan-made animated version with english subtitles) slow, partly heavy, very dark sarcasm! Radio (Radio) catchy song (with serious background) Keine Lust (not in the mood) heavy, funny, slidely sad Mein Herz brennt (My heart burns) scary, nightmarish, very special Amerika (America) catchy, not a love song Newest official videos from their last album "Zeit" in sequence of the tracks on the album: Zeit (Time) slow, dark, melancholic, emotional Zick Zack (Snip Snap) catchy song, sarcastic, funny Angst (Fear) very Rammstein, scary, credits at the end are helpful to understand the message Dicke Titten (Big Boobs) heavy (most of the time), catchy, funny, credits are funny too (my view) Adieu (Goodbye) dark, sometimes heavy, emotional Last but not least the great (but not nice) video "Deutschland" which has a lot of references to (mostly unpleasent) parts of German history. Video, lyrics, and sound are great (my view) and work very well together. For many of Rammstein's videos there are English subtitles available. To find a lot of them, you may search on RU-vid for: "educated marine rammstein" + songname For live videos of Rammstein songs, www.youtube.com/@Bucksttabu/playlists is a good source. In case of Rammstein, precise translations of the lyrics is hard work (and sometimes not possible in subtitles), because they are playing many times with double meanings of words or slightly modify common German expressions and symbolic language pictures to invert or change their meanings. (That is even used in the very simple lyrics of "Du hast".) I wish you to enjoy your Rammstein journey.
They did all this in San Antonio. Also "Mein Teil" was updated with a third flamethrower, big enough to require wheels. And the giant foam-spouting penis was upgraded to at least 15 feet long and he rode it like a bucking bronco while dousing the crowd. A Rammstein concert is very serious business.
They had no or little problems with the pyro in the US. As everywhere it had to be approved by authorities and some things are only allowed because Till, the singer, is a certified pyrotechnican, he has to redo the course every few years to stay up to date. They also have a huge pyrotechnics crew. They DID get into trouble over other things in the US though, getting arrested live on stage and two of them having to spend the night in jail. Watch a live performance of "Bück Dich" to find out why ...
They do that in America too. Ok at the beginning they have been arrested and stuff (not only for explosions 🤭). But now a days they say no pyro no show period..the last concerts have been the "North America Stadium Tour" in 2022.
I would say to check out Deutschland, Ich Tu Dir Weh, Sonne, Ich Will, Engel, Adieu I too have only discovered them 5 days ago and they are all I'm listening to right now.
Metal singer who doesn't know Rammstein? 0.ô Maaaan, you got a lot to discover, but as good as their live shows are, be sure not to neglect their actual music videos!
Lol I mean I’ve heard of them but never checked them out, there’s a ton of bands out there and now that I’ve heard them live I am kickin myself for not listening to them sooner! Any suggestions for a music video?!
@@JohnReavesLive The Video to Deutschland ist a Masterpiece. Go find one with english subtitles. Educated Marine probably has a subtitles version. If not, the automatic subtitles with autotranslate are actually pretty good for this song, saw another reactor use them.
If you want more vocals try "Ich tu Dir weh" or the official Video of the Piano Version of "Mein Herz brennt. In Wiener Blut it gets really dark. The video for " Deutschland" ist nuts. Feuer Frei or Mein Teil live are great if you like the flames😅
I can't believe u have never listened to Till. Omg he's awesome in studio and I hear live. I've never had the privilege to see them live. U gotta remember 27 years and same 6 original members. Gotta be good. Till Lindeman is talented on all levels...lyricist, props, and vocals. As for the Pyro I love how the stage explodes and he just sings like he's in a field somewhere. Does not phase Till.
One of the best bands in the world! If you have the chance, you have to see them live! You will never regret it, even if you're not a fan, it's a mega experience! Check "Spring" fan made video ,or "ich tu dir weh" live from Madison square garden...RAMMSTEIN🤘🤘 FANTASTIC SOUND,VOICE,VIDEOS,SHOWS...HIGH END FOR ALL
Rammstein is often doing a play on words which have a double meaning in german. Regarding to this song you can " listen/read " it in two ways. That " Du hast " would mean " You have ". But " Du hasst " ( with two s ) means " You hate ". But only when the whole sentence is sung, you realize the exact meaning. Because only singing " Du has(s)t " can mean both but once that whole sentence is sung: " Du hast mich gefragt... " ( meaning: " You have asked me..." ) the real meaning becomes clear. The false lead comes also by singing and repeating " Du has(s)t mich. " This sentence alone would mean " You hate me ". But following it with " Du hast mich.....gefragt " it changes towards " You have asked me..." Credit to vonStahlmach
This is awesome..... Epica -consign into oblivion (live at Zenith Paris) the show is just phenomenal. also with fire.....not like Rammstein. Rammstein 's pyro is one off.
Maybe Americans should learn there is a hole world out there, I remember listening with my brother this song as teenagers, dude learn couple of other languages and go see the world. RAMMNSTEIN ARE LEGENDS !!! Is a shame millennials don't listen to good music this days
I knew this song from the dawn of the internet when there was a popular video of mice/rats to it 🤣🤣🤣🤣Never had seen a live performance of it though, cool to see.
Bro, they play in USA , and they have pyro.. many pyro.. check Rammstein - Engel (Live from Madison Square Garden) or Rammstein - Feuer Frei! (Live from Madison Square Garden) (flamethrow on face haha)
You said it right! Check Live - Engel in Maddison Square Garden and Ich tuh dier weh.. And their videos, are the Bar! The best, live or videos.. Deutschland, Adieu, Sonne,Zeit,,..so many.. Radio, links 2-3-4.. Mein Teil -Live festival..
Even I as a no-metal-fan know Rammsteins epic Paris concert (watched it on TV 😊)... but my excuse is that im German 😂.. Joke aside: nice that you took the time to watch them 😎
You should react to „Benzin“ or „ich tu Dir Weh“ Live from Madison Square Garden… pretty crazy Pyro there 😂 You gonna love it And react to „Feuer frei“ live in Moscow … that’s insane, bet you never see something like that before
Oh and check out Zeal& Ardour. Church Burns and Götterdämmerung live performance in hungary. Two of their great songs on different ends of their spectrum.
I saw them last September and they were unbelievable, and they did ALL the pyro. There were big structures in the middle of the crowd that was shooting off flames. I saw them at the US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. I've liked them since 1997 when I was in the 7th grade. If you get a chance to see them live you should definitely do it! Also, I usually pronounce it Rohm-shtine. A couple fun facts... when the lead singer (Till) is bent over pounding his fist on his knee... That's called the Till Hammer. During one of his concerts his knee was dislocated I believe and he was pounding on it trying to get it back in place. Everyone said it looked cool so he kept doing it. Till also has really bad stage fright, so a lot of times he uses pyro and props to take the focus off of himself.
No, that is not how you say rammstein. Just listen to some of their song where they actualy say it like the song rammstein or Wollt ihr das Bett in Flammen sehen to mention a few.
welcome to Rammstein, probably the greatest band you never heard off..check out 'Rammlied', 'ich tu dir weh' and 'Engel' from the Maddison Square Garden ..I would recommend more but by then you be on line trying to score tickets..good luck on that btw lol
The crowd sings the lyrics: Du! Du hast! Du hast mich! (You! You have/hate!/ You have / hate me!) There is kind of a play on words in German - Du hast can mean you have or you hate. Then, in the first verse for example, he finishes the sentence saying Du hast mich gefragt, which mean You've asked me.
OMG! Im so happy you are now listening to Rammstein. This is one of my favorite bands ever (together with BTS 💜) and I have been fortunate enough to be in their show many times and they never disappoint. Pure fire 🔥 They have played many times in the US with fireworks and all. If you can, get to one of their concerts, you will never forget it.
Du hast by Rammstein always is a good introduction to this band as this is their most popular song all over the world for decades. but if you want to know what the lead singers ability is, you maybe should check out their live performances of "Rammlied" or "Ich tu dir weh" at Madison Square Garden.
I am 17 years old and come from Germany. I grew up with Rammstein. Even when I was 3 years old, my parents sat me in front of the TV and turned on Rammstein videos. I was always perfectly happy watching them, my favorite thing to do (and I still do) is to watch the concert live from Paris. My parents have seen Rammstein live quite often. My mother has probably seen them 10 times now. I saw them live for the first time in 2019, then in 2022 and now last week I went to the dress rehearsal in we were standing front of stage (Feuerzone= Firezone), for which my mother won tickets, and I'm going to see Rammstein live again at the end of the summer. I'm already incredibly excited! I have to say that Rammstein concerts are not like normal concerts, I've seen a lot of bands like Green Day, Coldplay and Kiss but no show can compete with Rammstein. Not only the show is amazing, but also the lyrics, especially as a German native speaker you understand the background and in a completely different way. No live act has ever made me cry but when Rammstein opened the show in Prague last week with Ramm4, tears were streaming down my face because it meant everything to me. Rammstein is not just a band for many, many associate them with special memories and just a good time. For me, Rammstein is childhood!
I love different bands for different reasons. Rammstein is the best at what they have become, in my opinion. A million other people want to do their thing, aber das ist nicht echte. Yeah I ain't fluent.
I've heard one of the reasons Flake is on the treadmill is to charge the tesla coil for the lightening effects but don't know how true that is. If you want more be sure to check out all the live performances and get the English subtitled versions if you can - Ich Will, Engel, Mein Hertz Brennt (Piano version), Deutchland, Feuer freil, Mein Teil, Ich tu dir weh.....the list is endless but all masterpieces, you won't be disappointed!
I've been to a Rammstein open air concert at a stadium. We were not anywhere near the stage and sitting way up, and yet those pyros gave us such nice warmth in the cold evening 😄
Cool, but you have to check out more. For live experiences check "Engel" at MSG, "Ich Will" on Hurricane Festival and "Waidmanns Heil" at MSG. But you have to check their official videos of "Deutschland" and "Zeit". They´re next level. Make sure to go with subtitles and don´t skip the outros. ;) Have fun.
I really love that, even though their performance is double as extra as 90% of every metal band's show fantasy when theyre listening to their idols on the way to the shops, the way Rammstein still downplays the actual *playing* of the music is such a fun diversion from the over the top musical performances of classic metal. It makes it somehow both very blasé and cool, but very theatrical and over the top at the same time. It fits their strange industrial metal so well, which is so grimy and gritty, but also funny and a spectacle. It's this total package that just *works*.
This was exactly the same pyro they just did in the US tour later summer 2022. I caught the LA show and was amazing. I also saw them in Dallas in 2001 and Chicago in 2011. No one does a live show like Rammstein. Now you gotta go and look into all their work. Hands down best song/music video has got to be Deutschland closely followed by Zeit. Ohne Dich is probably their best song musically. The piano cover of Mein Herz Brennt with till singing is one of the most surreal performances of any artist you’ll ever see/hear, watch with the subtitles.
