Honestly, the language barrier doesn't deter me. I love the cadence, delivery and harmonies of the singing. I look up the translation of the songs to get the gist of them. But I've listened to their music so much, that I'm starting to recognize the words and can almost sing some parts of the songs in Japanese. I keep coming back to their music because it gets me pumped up and full of energy! I've listened to a lot of rock and metal bands, and this band, for whatever reason, keeps giving me that energy with their music!
I do exactly the same for the lyrics. And I also think I can phonetically sing along some of the lines. :) The focus is on what my ears perceive. I don't necessarily have to understand every single word as long as I can feel the energy and the emotions. 🔥🤘🏻
@@phaeron Of all the musical artists that I've listened to in my lifetime, BAND-MAID taps into my soul like no musicians have. I can't explain it, but the way they execute their music and their style speaks to me on so many levels!
@@breakpack Believe me, I understand you very, very well! And no, I can't explain it either. 🤭 When I saw the thumbnail for 'Thrill' in my suggestions now almost 5 years ago, I would never have thought that a single mouse click would be enough to change my life so much.
Great reaction! Check out the lyrics to this song and stand back as Band-Maid's vocalist Saiki spits fire and scorches the very ground around you. The song is called "Hate?" because it's a song about one's absolute hatred for the person who betrays one's trust and breaks their vow of fidelity. It's actually more than mere hate, it's a vindictive desire to erase even the very memory of the person's existence in their life. It's not a song for the timid or the weak, it is a searing song of one blasting their justified uncontrollable rage at someone who has deliberately destroyed any ounce of respect for them by cheating on them. It is not a happy song of rainbows and puppies, but rather a powerful song screaming from the fires of hell seeking retribution to the point where that other person is erased completely from the world of memory.
Totally agree! I think Taylor Swift could learn from this song - she's always writing about her ex-boyfriends John Mayer being one of them. The guy who caused this song - from SAIKI's friends experience - is probably still burning from this scorching song.
These ladies know how to serve you a feast. 🍽 Great song with some spicy lyrics and fiery solos. 🔥 There must be some kind of cooling solution built into their new outfits. There's no other explanation for the fact that they didn't burst into flames9. :) 🤘🏻 Welcome back to Band-Maid. 🙋🏻♂ _____________________ 「 _"Our rock never dies ever. Absolutely one of their best. As to Miku's (The Small Pigeon) guitars, She is sponsored by Zemaitis Guitars. The guitar she is playing here is her signature model, 'The Flappy Pigeon'. She has quite a few Zemaitis metal faced guitars in her collection.
Miku debuted a 'new' Zemaitis at this show which was a 'disc' front, same as her first Zemaitis but it had pigeon inlays. Including acoustics, she has around 12 Zemaitis guitars. Also in one of the Cluppo MV's, she showed off half a dozen different Zemaitis models, it was basically an advert for them lol
When rock and metal ruled the music world, the music was fun and happy. Most of it was played in major chords. What I call "depression metal" came about in the 90's with grunge. Music went from fun and happy to stick a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger. Far too much angst to be enjoyable. I disassociated with metal during the grunge years. This is also why so many older metalheads flock to Band Maid and Lovebites. They bring the joy and happiness that we experienced in the 80's. I'm just sorry that younger metal heads can't enjoy music this way.
Hehe I love what you said - and I'm going to twist it a bit for effect: "Band-Maid can even make a minor-key guy like me super happy!" 😂 It's one of the things I like best about them. No matter what, they always make me happy when I watch them play.
HELLFIRE, great surprise to see you back to BAND-MAID!!! daRiff Bobbleheading with Kanami vs Misa’s solo battle… PRICELESS, hahaha. …you still haven’t done “Freedom (live)” thoooo… you’re gonna get a great drum solo with that song… just saying😉
Good to see you giving the maids another go. After a year and about 100 King Gizzard reactions, I thought you had given up on them. They played 33 songs during this show. This was song #27. It was crazy.
Welcome back! Glad to see you reacting to Band-Maid again. Looking forward to jumping back on your bandwagon of reaction videos. You will probably enjoy Shambles (MV). It's heavy and Akane goes into full gorilla mode behind her kit. Cheers!
In addition to the center runway there was another walkway going from stage right all around in front of the upper-level seats and back to stage left. They used it to go around and play right up close to those fans on several songs.
I really enjoy your reaction videos. Maybe it's because your vibe resonates with my feelings. You don't come across as condescending or over-the-top when reacting to musician performances. You express your thoughts calmly, yet your gentle demeanor conveys your emotions. When you don't know a musician's name or pronunciation, you take the time to look it up and share it with your viewers, which I think is really smart. Thank you. 🥰🤘
You were excellent with the names. "Saiki" had a bit of a drawl but most of your English has a drawl. So does mine. Appreciate the effort. @5:50 "That's surf rock! Yeah, you could definitely take a surfboard and ride the wave of that riff right there." That's why I chose my name! Lovebites were at this concert ... about halfway down the stage left side on the rail of the aisle that runs in front of the first tier. From what I can tell, the bands like and support each other. They're different bands with different sounds but they're both awesome!
Missed you man! Glad you are doing okay. Don't you Tell Me Live has another battle. It has a Rock and Roll Halloween flavor. Band Maid's recent track Shambles let's Akane show her stuff (even though there isn't a drum solo).
Hey Rock Da, happy to see you back with our favourite Japanese ladies! To be honest, as one of your older subscribers, (in several senses of the word) I'd almost abandoned you, thought you'd become the official King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard channel, lol. 😂 Nice to see you now have 10K+ subs btw. As you mentioned Lovebites, just a gentle reminder that they have some excellent new live material on their official channel, from last year's comeback concerts after 2 years hiatus, with new bassist Fami. Start with Hammer of Wrath, even if you have done a previous version. Or Liar, which you may not have seen live. Their performance is now next level. Cheers from Australia (home of King G and the LW. Yes, I have seen them. 😊)
😂yeaaa king gizz is the rabbit hole im goin down atm, like how I did ghost…Im trying my best to balance among all the requests and favorites of subs, plus the bands that have hit home with me too….hopefully before too long I can have more time to work on more content for the channel
An this is 27 of 33. Would have been an awesome concert to be at. Great to hear Akane get a mention ... She may be in the background without the spotlights, but Akane doin what she does best. Oh, an that's Miku's Zematis.
Yeah Man, in all of these Official Yokoari Lives, I I feel Akane hasn't gotten enough Love! She's been a complete Superhero in back, eiher supporting her band mates or destroying her drum kit . Also Akane is a disciple of Maximum The Hormone, so yeah probably inducing self restraint.
Miku is the Pigeon, she plays Zemaitis guitars. The one she's playing in this video is her signature "Flappy Pigeon" model. She also teased us with a new model that has pigeons flying up the fretboard, kinda like Kanami's PRS, at this concert. no photos of what the engraving is on the round metal disc of this new guitar. 🤘
Fun video dude. Thanks. That show lasted for three and half hours. I wish I was there. With crazy shit like that I bet they were exhausted when they finally sat down. Check it out with the subtitles, the lyrics are great.
For me (showing my age) it is still enchanting to see women in rock who are not just clones of their male counterparts, that is prevalent in western metal and rock music. When you add in the tightness of, in this case, Band Maid and the level of musicianship, respect for their fans, plus not on stage, stoned, drunk and full of other substances, plus they are clearly having a great time, it all adds to the wonder of how different from the mediocre, drug fuelled performances I used to watch from four or five guys in my youth. Fan boying finished but also post production for live music has vastly improved in the last ten years or so.
Miku's guitar is her signature guitar by Zemaitis (A24MF-FP "Flappy Pigeon"). First 50 were released on 3/9/2021. They were sold out right away. They had to issue 30 more guitar after. They are all sold out. Zemaitis has no plan for any future releases. They were ONLY sold in Japan. Many US fans had to go through hoops to get it to U.S.
MISA plays a BLACK CLOUD Private Reserve bass guitar - she will have a signature model out soon. Cost is about $3500.00 Keep watching BAND MAID and you will get the names soon enough. KANAMI TONO - LEAD GUITAR - Plays classical piano since the age of 3. Writes the music on Acoustic Guitar or Piano MISA and AKANE contribute to the music. Miku Kobato - RHYTHM GUITAR - Originated the band and brought all the members together. Has only been playing guitar for about 7 years. Was the lead singer but took a back seat voluntarily! Misa - BASS GUITAR - Switches from pick to slap in the same song. - Played electric guitar in other bands before switching to Bass. Akane Hirose - DRUMS - Jimmy Page was impressed enough to meet her back stage. - Plays trumpet and DJ's on the side. Saiki - VOCALS - Plays classical piano from an early age.
Neophilia is another band to check out. Darker Metal Core. Dueling guitars by two extremely talented Japanese ladies. Band-Maid live is beyond words. Wished they played closer to me when on tour. Like the breakdown.
RockdaRiff is back! You're the first youtuber I thought of when this video dropped. You've probably listened to Don't You Tell ME before, but the latest version is pretty great too. They always sound happy, but rewatch it with the close caption lyrics on it, they're pretty hilarious. Saiki wrote them on this one and she definitely will let someone know when she doesn't like them. (you did really well on the names, a little rough at the start, but by the end you had it as close as most of us English folk can get)
If understanding the lyrics is that important to you, there's a RU-vid cc button giving English subtitles. These lyrics for "Hate?" are unusual in having been written by Saiki rather than Miku (her guitar, "The Flappy Pigeon," is made by Zemaitis, btw), and Saiki can get brutal: "Just using me to make you feel you have meaning Tеn minutes of limp gymnastics."
The reason this HATE? sounds so positive, IMO,... It's a liberating kind of hate. It's a "I'm sick of this and I'm taking ownership of my feelings and not leaving myself open to be mistreated anymore." kind of hate ! If there's a triumphant hate...This is IT ! 🔥
Japanese vowels sound phonetically close to the vowel sounds in DO-RE-MI-FA-SO-LA-TI-DO and the U sound like in Sue. And all pronouced short and sweet. Band Maid members: MI-KU SA-I-KI KA-NA-MI MI-SA A-KA-NE Also, Miku's guitar is her signature Zemaitis "Flappy Pigeon".
have you thought about checking out BABYMETAL? it might not be your style but it‘s definitely interesting. for a first song i‘d recommend Headbanger or Catch Me If You Can (live) with the band intro
The lyrics are by Saiki (she only done 3 songs) and she is pi$$ed. There are Eng Subs with the MV. Muki's guitar is her Signature Ibanez - only 60 made at $5000 a pop. Now it would cost you $10,000+ to get one!! Hear's what Rolling Stone said about Band Maid at Lallapalooza in 2023. Lallapalooza is by invite only!! 2nd Japanese Band to perform there!! ROLLING STONE Japanese Rockers Band-Maid Put Guitar Center Showoffs to Shame There’s a pun to be made about how much Band-Maid ripped, but the Japanese group goes even harder than that. Fluctuating between hard rock, aughts nu-metal, and pop rock, each member of the quintet is a virtuoso in her own right with more than a decade of practice in Band-Maid alone. They lured curious onlookers into the fold when highlights like “Domination” and “Don’t You Tell Me” got huge reactions from the crowd, but it was the bass solo-versus-guitar solo duels mid-song that got the biggest cheers. This is what those guys in Guitar Center think their ridiculous riffing sounds like. Turns out it’s done best, and most effortlessly, by women in black-and-white maid dresses and frilly hair-pieces as they smile ear to ear. -N.C.
