As suggested "Arriving Somewhere....." is awesome. To see drum Godliness and to see those little cymbals in use try "Hatesong". Both live versions preferably.

I'm glad you enjoyed that one. The concert opener is a real rocker, Fear of a Blank Planet. I'd also recommend Arriving Somewhere But Not Here and Mother and Child Divided from the Rockpalast show. For the calmer side, try Heart Attack on a Layby. Cheers!

Great! I'm glad you like Ghost and Porcupine Tree. Both are among my favorite bands, even though they each seem to be from a different world. From P.T. I recommend song ".3 " It reminds me a lot of something from Massive Attack.

they are custom made mini bell cymbals- he has breakdown of his recent kit , the same essentially but with added mini toms

I went back to look so apologies if I missed it, but try Arriving Somewhere But Not Here. When a friend of mine had me check out Porcupine Tree that's the track he suggested. Give it a try.

I suggest "Way Out Of Here" if you want more heavy song and "Dark Matter" if you prefer more peacefull sound.

10:00 - I'm not a drummer, but I think those are just 8" bells tuned slighty differen ways..

Glad to see/hear your reactions to my fav band for the last 15 years! The way they mesh on stage is phenomenal. PT is always better LIVE! So, from the same Tilburg concert watch “What Happens Now” with an incredible middle section from Gavin on drums. Then, from the Chicago concert DVD, look up “So Called Friend” for some of that GH cymbal work at the end…..

Tim Wallace just took the very 2 song suggestions that were top of my mind based on what you have expressed you like RockaRiff. Another heads up - anything you want to listen to from Porcupine Tree or Steven Wilson himself (the lead singer, lead guitarist, main songwriter, producer etc etc) you HAVE to listen and watch it live. Not because the studio recordings are in any way poor, but just because they are the best in the world live. They are ALL on youtube. But as Tim said - I would start with "Arriving Somewhere but not here" live and "Hatesong" live. Prepare to be gobsmacked! And they are just 2 of literally scores that you can be uncovering in the weeks and months ahead. Enjoy!

Porcupine Tree is one of those "Best band you never heard of" type of things and their live performances are the bestest of them all. :D Keep it up, many great songs to come and your reactions are great to listen. I found PT via OSI which I found via Mike Portnoy (via Dream Theater).. :D Song "ShutDown" from their first album really hit me and when looking up more info I learned that Steven Wilson was the lyricist and lead vocals of that song -> Porcupine Tree. And then Gavin played drums on their third and fourth albums. Also Mikael Åkerfeldt (of Opeth) sang on the third album (Stockholm)... So OSI kind of introduced me to PT and Opeth. But my favourite OSI track is still the "The thing that never was" which was Portnoy's and Matheos original idea of what OSI was supposed to be: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kZ_fnh7a6M8.html

The Sky Moves Sideways live in Cologne 2007 by Porcupine Tree is awesome too. I’m sure you’ll enjoy that one it’s both slow and heavy in the right places. Other choices are Normal live in Tilburg 😊

Yeah that live version of Sky Moves Sideways is so good!! I wish they'd release a BluRay of that show.
