Please remember that Ren’s music and story telling is so powerfully well done that it means different things to every person. Ren I’m sure would never take it personally that you find something amusing. That’s the power of his music we all feel and connect with something different so never be worried just to be yourself. As far as your lyrics comment I totally understand what you mean, if you can’t connect to the actual music behind the lyrics then the lyrics don’t matter. Ren has an intense following which you've probably noticed. Sometimes people can get protective because he's so beloved but watching his interviews and whatnot I cannot imagine him not appreciating whatever genuine reaction you have. Also, we tend to show up in mass when there's someone new to Ren and didn't always understand the channel's nuance. I'm watching one where a guy had to explain he wasn't putting himself down but that self deprecating humor was an Australian thing bc people were trying to encourage him. All that to say, I hope the renegade responses are a net positive for you and I'm glad you're diving into his catalog!

Regarding someone having a go at you for laughing, some ren fans can be a little sensitive and protective of ren partly because of the crap he's dealt with and partly because he's given a voice to people with different issues of their own. Try to skip past those comments

I'm with you on lyrics in general. There have been songs I've listened to for forty years where I've never really heard the lyrics. Somehow, Ren caught me though and I actually listen to what he's saying. And laugh away. Ren's got a great sense of humour. The thing about politics is that you can ignore them all you want, but they will affect every aspect of your life anyway.

Great reaction mate. As a guitarists I think we all noticed the bum notes on the 2 occasions when the song stops. It's definitely intentional to exaggerate the atmosphere of the video. It's joked that Pt. 1 taking 186 tries is the reason Pt. 2 is a lyric video. Ren has A LOT of purely fun songs. Ren has a lot of everything songs. (I laugh when I see unexpected brilliance too.)

Keep going bro! Everything Ren does is definately not political, but he has a way of connecting to people through his lyrics. He spits bars and brags on some tracks, he is naked and vulnerable in others. He makes almost everything himself, but he also does cover (or retakes) of other songs he likes.

I want you to know that when you mentioned the stout imagery I immediately thought, “oh that was a good word for it! I wouldn’t have thought of that” When you followed it with, what’s the “smart” word for that I decided I needed to tell you that❤ If you search the meaning of the word stout, there are so many iterations of the word throughout the years and depending on which root so many meanings. And please disregard any negative comments from certain Renegades, i feel some Fans in every fan base can be a little overprotective of the artist and a little judgemental which is unfortunate but it is what it is. Yeah… Don’t worry about the comments like the “patronizing laugh.” Ren has a wicked sense of humor and even some of his deepest material, like Hi Ren and Money Game, have clear elements of dark humor. And yes, Ren, is definitely meticulous about everything. I’ve been watching his BTS videos on Patreon and he seems to obsess over the visual and auditory details. 💔❤️🩹❤️

Yes, the RATM cover was a nod to the Buddhist monk who set himself on fire in protest of religious persecution. The history of self-imollation as a form of protest is long, and I think the narrator (Ren) inadvertently sets himself on that path when he gives the blinded hostage eyes. He personifies the mysterious "other." He's been saying it's easy to blame, and asking people to look in the mirror. The narrator winds up deciding to remove himself once he realizes he's also part of the money game, too. Do your reaction how you want, if someone doesn't like it, they can leave. Ren's authenticity is one thing his fans like most. No, Ren is not always deep or serious. Far from it actually. For example, his Love Music series gets progressively sillier and naughtier. Part 4 (part of the Sick Boi album, which revolves around the many ways that one can be sick) is very cheeky. "Losing It" is a fun rap about beings who "lose it" - monsters, killers, musicians, etc. The majority of Ren's rap/hip-hop stuff appropriately leans on the braggadocious side. His guitar and piano tracks tend to be deeper, but not always. His discography is unusually diverse in content and sonics. You really never know what you're going to hear next; he even mixes genres in a single song. Ren taught himself guitar by watching videos of people like Jimi Hendrix and John Frusciante (of the Red Hot Chili Peppers). If he can do it, so can you. Of course, Ren ironically had many years of being bound to his bed/bedroom due to illness, so he was able to practice *a lot.* Ren had a lot of time to read, write, philosophize and practice.
