2:51 He is saying he spent 50 thousand dollars on a chain, also spent 50 thousand on a Cadillac The tree in the alley signifies his growth and him prospering into fame and into better things, and to new beginnings. 6:11 He’s saying how his mom’s heart would break all the time due to his actions when he was younger. However, due to fame he claims to have found life’s meaning and his mother is proud of him, therefore “her heart not in pieces now”. 6:54 He talks about Kanye West who is one of his idols in the industry. When he says he pumped faked and passed it back, he’s stating that he will be as big as him, and have as much success or even more. Later in the line he says all of this off of rapping - well, he’s a rapper soooooo-. Then when he says i should’ve wrote this in Latin, he’s just saying how smart he is and how confident he is in his abilities to write music. 7:37 He explains his Aunt’s bad habits and addictions, therefore he says “Ports” which means Newport which is the cigarette company. Basically he is saying “Look I’ve made it, there’s no need to do drugs and to take cigarettes anymore.” 8:47 Travis had horses close to where he lived in Missouri City, Texas and he loved to look at them because that’s where his alone time was from the world and the horses were his inspiration, so in his words when he says betting on them he really means my work paid off while being with the horses. Later he says north of the border, he lived in Texas. He says he is his moms biggest supporter, and niggas are fake for supporting him just because he has all this fame and money now. The song and video basically signify his bad old habits, therefore having the significance of the prostitute. When he goes back in the alley a tree grows and it signifies new fame and beginnings due to his rap career. Basically the song signifies the next chapter in his new life.
Just for more context on the video, the entire song and some of the album is about his conflicts with rather unhealthy desires. The larger version of himself (could consider that his conscious) is trying to find the real him (the one having sex) and set his priorities straight. Most people think the blurred women is a representation of rihanna, who he had a relationship with at one point. And the Latin line speaks on how Ye (kanye) jump started his career
AlabamaArtists until now I saw people telling that the Big Travis scott represents the older Travis and the other one represents its new self, but I like your interpretation as well
The song is a reflection of his life from how all he wanted to do was party pop pills and have sex which is the first part and the second is like him reflecting his life from how far he came from ... that y in the beginning the giant doll shows him destroying his life with drugs and shit then it skips to him talking to himself like his in front of a mirror.... thats what i got out of it
The "Gozilla" Travis is meant to be Travis' demons. As he is fighting his deamons, he grows like a tree. Plus he's rapping about his huge success over past years at the same moment as the tree grows.
I love how you don’t just shit on rap music like a lot of metal heads I know you actually enjoy it despite the fact that it might not be your favorite genre
Just so you know, the part he's rapping in, he's basically talking about how he went from rags to riches and how he's made so much money he doesn't have to worry about his family being broke. Where he says "Should of wrote this in Latin" he's talking about how Kanye helped his career and how he feels he's reached a godly status, he's so comfortable writing in English he should start writing in Latin to test his limitations. Also, I see my good fortune in all these horses would also go with the next line about him driving fast, horses as in the horsepower in his sports car.
Keep the videos up bro! I like how you analyze the lyrics, and also how you appreciate all the types of art involved; the music, the video art, the switch up beat etc! Cheers!
as a purebred hip hop raised music fanatic I gotta tell you I fw your wave and this whole series you got going. always cool to see outside perspectives on your favorite artists
caddy is a cadillac, so he spent 50k on that car although i dont really know the actual price. and on the second verse, he's talking about his family and how his success helped their lives although they kicked him out for using his college money for studio time.
Lil peep - awful things ft. tracy please!! (Some people may disagree on him being a rapper, also he unfortunatly died in a very sad drug overdose) P.s You're really the best reactor on youtube for real keep it up
The godzillla is his artistic persona outgrowing him as just a regular person, the trees growing signifies the fruits of his labour, he let his ambition guide him and it worked out.
The song is off of the album Rodeo which in my opinion is one of the best albums of the past 5 years, especially in the genre of nocturnal pop trap rap.
He spend 50.000$ on a chain and 50.000$ on a Cadillac. Basically numbers in rap are representing cash in thousands so 80 would be 80.000. Hope I could help you
When he said he passed the rock to ye, ye is KanYE West and the “alley” is where he finds drugs and etc. the tree growing means he outgrew that past life
I have this CD so I've heard this song so many times, but this is the first time I'm actually seeing the music video of it. You mentioned how it kinda switched up into a new song, there's a lot of songs on that album that do that. Not all of them, but many of the songs are like 2 songs in 1, where at some point during the track it kinda switches up into something else. Good reaction video, I dig it. Let's get that Kendrick Lamar - DNA. reaction. Or one of this older ones. And this is gonna be a really obscure request that probably no one else will request, so me requesting it is probably futile, but the song Heated Heavy by Krayzie Bone. It'll knock you off your feet.
I also don't know for sure what Travis Scott meant with that "should've wrote this in Latin" part, but I just feel like it's comparing his career to that of Caesar, as a "Conqueror" of the rap industry. Travis did produce beats for Kanye West (aka Ye) on his album Yeezus, so maybe he means that too.
Hey man, new subscriber here, I thought your channel is great. Love love love your genuine reactions. My only suggestion would be to do album reviews. It would take a while yes, but I think you would get a lot more of an idea of what different artists do and their "sound". They are also really big on RU-vid right now so might as well cash out as you do it lol okay sorry for the novel.
Ricardo Aguirre thanks for watching! As of today I've made $0 because my account has been in review for 4 months, and either way, all my videos gave copyright claims and they puts ads on the videos and take all the money. I get $0.
vice2vursa yo, your song is on the list. There are more comments and requests for other songs. It's simple math my man. I'll get to Lil dicky, but I'll get to him sooner if there's more requests for him, and there are not many.
Hey man, I know i commented pretty much the same thing like a month ago, but I really wanna see you reacting to guy called Ghostemane. For you I'd recommend reacting to one of these 3 songs (you can decide yourself which one you wanna flow into!). 1- D(r)own, 2- Euronymous, 3- Rake/Hexada. If you would react to him it would be amazing, I believe that you'll be quite surprised! Nice video aswell, keep up the good work man
The point of 90210 was a story of Travis Scott in California. He had a really bad addiction to pills and prostitutes and this is his story explained in a song.
