Man i’ve watched this video so many times. Im on vacation in thailand right now and saw the vid again. Just got to know your pops passed away and i almost started crying man. He was and is still an amazing person. Such a smart layed back person who enjoys life. Thats one of the best things about all those vids with your dad. Those memory’s will be on video forever and you can always watch them back. Visual memory’s like these: deep conversations, fun conversations, laughing, are a real blessing. Thank you for doing this together. I have a paper on the influence of politics and religion on art and this and a few other videos were the first that came to mind. With the division and the steps back that it's caused i think this is the #1 video that sums it up from the start of it all. For every step we've taken together some real and some faked by many the divide still remains and hurts because we can't just try to work together without splitting up into groups still somehow and that's not true progress. I still get chills every time i listen to this and it's the perfect way to sum up overall history in America and what's happened again and again as progress is made together. It's never been perfect but in the last decade it's really set more of it back into place. Someone always finds a way to divide and split us when we're all supposed to be and say we're one nation and people together. Travel around out of our comfort zones and go sit and talk with people from different states, backgrounds, political affiliations, etc. and don't assume or try to finish each other's thoughts or sentences. Really listen and picture the story of their lives. Talk about subjects of joy and grief and if you're truly listening you'll instantly find that we all have a lot more in common. It will be different experiences and cause and effect but the similarities are there. We also need to claim it and talk about it. It's part of American history and just because we're ashamed it happened doesn't change that it did. Every time we try to sweep it away it forms a gap in our society. Each crack and divide multiplies quickly and it takes that much more just to get back to where we were. This is nowhere near solved and it can't be unless we start to truly talk and be a part of other people's lives and don't let people find ways to divide and separate us as people. There's so much we can learn when we just listen and share. Focus more on the similarities than difference without trying to compare too much to where we start to divide again. I've been listening to a lot of music that helps to sum up the time of eras from all directions and this is one of the best. I'm glad i listened to your thoughts on this too. Every bit of insight we can gather helps to solve this puzzle we all live in together through good and bad.

He's looking at his father, during the white man speech, expecting him to be triggering by his point of view and go mad. But here's the difference between this young man and his dad: The son is driven by emotions that cloud his mind, and pops is driven by knowledge and common sense. Add some serious life experience to that, and you got yourself an inspiring human being (the comment section here proves my point).
